XR650R false TDC and almost broken foot

I have 2 xr600r , and one has auto decomp with manual decomp and the other has only the manual decomp. I like the manual only better, because it is way faster & easier to find TDC .

Are you twisting throttle? Take your hand off & rest it in middle of handle bars.

    My XR600R need some TLC

Usually when kill switch is activated, it is closing the black traced wire to earth/ground. If you follow the blacked traced wire from the button, somewhere you'll see a connector to pull apart. This will dis-able kill switch. Make sure the unpluged wire is not touching metal, & recheck for spark.

    XR600r oil lines

Tony, If you do what Holler's diagram shows, make sure you have a good fresh duck bill on the end of the lower drip hose. You can see it on the hose tip, on Holler's diagram. Part # 15 in parts breakdown: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1997/xr600r-a/air-cleaner But personally I'd do it different to try & keep sand & dust out of oil, due to pulsing of piston displacement. If you do a search you'll find a few options with breather filters attached. https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fthumpertalk.com%2Fapplications%2Fcore%2Finterface%2Fimageproxy%2Fimageproxy.php%3Fimg%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fi305.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fnn228%2Ftbakner%2Funicranks.jpg%26key%3D19569fdcf981e35c093754f20660e1928e958a174cef6eab35e91c68f5d54883&f=1

    Confused about tube sizing

I was in a jam one evening & needed rim band badly before leaving next day on a dual sport ride. Went to Walmart, bought a bicycle tube (16"?) & cut off outer half of circumference, & punch hole for stem. Worked perfect!

    Confused about tube sizing

Or go tubliss, I'm a happy client but I do say, I do check the air pressures before I ride. (I did even before the tubliss) http://tubliss.com/
  9. Did you try local auto parts ? https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/putco-wiring-harness-h4-standard-harness-239003hd/10156652-P?searchTerm=Wiring+Harness+-+Universal & if they dont stock, they can usually have next day or sometimes same day.

    XR600R Decompression Arm

Here's a pic of an 1983 xl600r & 1997 xr600r. I cannot tell any difference, except maybe the weld on the end where the flange goes onto shaft appearance. I measured with calipers and both are the same. The spring arm on one is a tad longer which doesn't make any difference.

    DIY stator rewind on XRR?

Tim this is an old post & Sniper hasn't been back since 2010. But looking at what he said, this is what I found >>>> https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/sla-sealed-lead-acid/12?facets=Capacity:2.9AH

XR500R 1984 Carb - bogging on second carb

Mark your throttle grip with a small white paint mark on the twist grip for when the secondary slide starts to open. Then proceed with testing for bog & note if it does in fact start bog when the mark is reached. When it does bog, try the choke. If bog gets worse, indicates too much fuel(rich) condition, or if bog starts to go away, indication of too little fuel(lean) clogged jet etc...

    My XR600R need some TLC

OK good. Back to basics, check for spark when problem occurs. (carry a spare plug & something to clip it to fins for grounding, so you dont have to unscrew the one in engine)

    My XR600R need some TLC

After your engine is really warmed up, you can adjust your fuel screw, which should be under carb where meets cylinder adapter. Here is a good explanation for "how to" video. The guy shows both different types of adjusting, air metering from side or fuel from bottom front. Watch over & over until it make perfect sense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxpQjDQzX7g
