  4. Toolpack Necessities List is standard issue when you join the Jawbone Tea Party movement ... do it now!
  5. Bob, As you and I sit here at Jawbone Station this morning wondering where Bill is, I think that your comment may be a bit of sarchasm since I can plainly see you scratching your nose with your middle finger extended... OOOPS, one day early.
  6. While checking out the snow levels this weekend, we happened to pass through the J-Bone/Dove "limited use" area to do some fence-line inspections ... just to make sure the destruction is on schedule ... Came upon a new fence section at the head of what looked like freshly dug graves in a forty-foot wide line going off into the horizon ... what the!!! Decided to "hike" in and see where it ended. For OVER A MILE, some knucklehead in a tractor had dug coffin-sized holes in the desert every few feet while mashing the sh*t out of the flora and fauna twenty feet either side of an 18 in wide natural rain drainage line in an attempt to keep two-wheelers off of it!! WHO directs this waste of our green-sticker money Ed? Any grade-school graduate knows that next rain, that drainage will re-create itself !?! Here's the view from the end of the destruction back towards the fence line that sits just this side of those mountains...
  7. Can anyone who would like to express their “thoughts and ideas regarding these grant applications” make it to the Wednesday morning meeting at Jawbone Station? Requests to hold this type of meeting around the average rider’s working schedule falls on deaf ears … but I’m happy to think that the city and county law enforcement representatives will be on the taxpayer’s clock. The invitation to this meeting posted on the FOJ website says “The agenda will be dedicated to discussing the proposed projects and grant applications of agencies and organizations involved in managing OHV recreation in the area … If you have any thoughts or ideas regarding these grant applications and pending projects, please come voice them at the meeting.” WHAT? You can voice your opinion in a public meeting but not a public forum without being “moderated”??? Meeting notice on FOJ website: “Friends of Jawbone will host a public meeting for area State OHV grant applicants to share their projects and consult with the public. The agenda will be dedicated to discussing the proposed projects and grant applications of agencies and organizations involved in managing OHV recreation in the area. The public is invited to attend and share their concerns and suggestions on Wednesday, February 16 at 9:00 AM until approximately 12:00 PM at the Jawbone Visitor Center. The agencies expected to participate are: BLM Ridgecrest Field Office California City Police Department California Trail Users Coalition Friends of Jawbone Kern County Sheriff's Office Kern County Fire Department Kern County Search and Rescue Ridgecrest Police Department If you have any thoughts or ideas regarding these grant applications and pending projects, please come voice them at the meeting. Bring your family and friends and let us know what you think!” By the way, another article on the FOJ website reads: “The California City Economic Development Corporation has honored the Friends of Jawbone with its 2010 Business of the Year Award. EDC President Jim Quiggle cited the Friends of Jawbone's significant contributions to both the city's employment base and tourism programs.” Must be the employment of all of those fence-building crews…

Green Sticker = The New Red Sticker???

Bill, Every time I'm ready to give up on this website and lapse into a coma due to boredom, you post something that makes me want to stick around I'm tempted to start a Where's Waldo thread so the blow-hards can take pot-shots at naming that trail ... is it "legal"? can't be, it's ST! Crap, I think I'm going to get scolded AGAIN...
