  1. Commuter Bike.
  2. Thank you all for the info. I will pop the rivet and run single layer gasket.
  3. Hello, I am just installing the Cylinder Works Big Bore kit on my DRZ400SM. The kit comes with the thicker 3 layer base gasket. Can I run the thinner 1 layer (E) gasket with the CW Big Bore kit? I don't know if the big bore kit with piston is already running higher compression? Is anybody running the Cylinder Works BB kit with 1 layer base gasket? thank you, Rick
  4. Hello, I installed a STM slipper clutch in my DRZ-SM and it seems to work fine. The clutch lever pull feels smooth and normal in idle or upshifting, but when I pull the clutch lever under deceleration / downshifting, I feel a hard snap when pulling in the lever. Not sure what causes this and if it is normal or not? The clutch seems to engage and disengage and slip properly. Thanks for any input or explanation of the mechanics if that behavior is normal.
  5. Hello Eddie, I got a DRZ SM with 3x3 mod, jetkit and drilled out the end restrictor in the stock exhaust can. Geared it taller to keep the rpm's down. It runns very well, but a few more HP's would be nice. Would you recommend a yosh ti pipe or big bore kit to gain some more HP without spending too much? Thanks for all your great advice. Rick
  6. It's fixed ! (CRF450R '06 with 480 kit - So Cal) It seemed like it needed to be leaner with the 480kit from the beginning. It ran Ok when I installed the 480kit but was never running crisp at the lower end, and I think overtime (wear) it got worse (richer) that it actually started to cut out sometimes. I installed a 38 slow jet (was 42). Did the fuel screw check and it idles now highest at 1 1/2 turns. Leaned out the needle to 3rd grove (was 4th) and put in a 160 MJ (was 168). The bike runs perfect now. Very crisp, no hessitation. Starts perfectly hot or cold. (ran it on a softer track with lots of load on engine). Thanks for your help Eddie, Rick
  7. Yes, all stock thanks, Rick
  8. It runs worse with the fuel screw out further. The idle goes up a little when turning the fuel screw in from the stock setting and it still idles with the fuel screw turned in all the way. I would expect it idle lower and die with the fuel screw all the way in. Thanks for your reply Rick
  9. Yes, stock jetting. When turning the pilot screw in from the stock setting, the idle goes up a little and still idles with the screw all the way in. I would expect it to go lower and die. From when the bike was new, (bought it end of last year) the low end did not seem as strong as on my '04 but it has been running ok. Thanks for your help Eddie. Rick
  10. Hello, Got a '06 CRF450R that suddenly sometimes boggs or cuts out when accelerating out of corner or turning the throttle before a jump. yeiks! From one weekend to the next. Did not touch the bike in between. Change the spark plug. was very black. When pulling the hot start lever while running, the engine revs up like pulling the throttle. When turning the pilot screw in all the way, idle goes up a little bit. When riding, it is not all the time, but overall does not seem to run as smooth in low and midrange. Bike is all stock - except 480 kit that I put in quite awhile and it ran great with.A Airfilter is good and valve clearance also ok. Choke is in. Seems to idle ok. Something seems to make it run rich at the low end. Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick

  12. Hello, I got a 04 CRF450R and would like to get a new 06 or 07 CRF450R. There is $1000 difference. Is the 07 suspension plusher? Is the 07 worth $1000 more? Thank you, Rick
  13. Wouldn't that turn up your idle a lot?
  14. Hello, Does anybody know who makes a shorter twist throttle that would work on a CRF 450R. Due to an injury I don't have full wrist twist motion anymore. thanks.
