  1. excellent question. i asked this a couple months ago and didnt get the huge response you did. i own a 2004 yz450 and i bought it for Glamis. Turned out i went to the track more and its a little powerful for that. probably weighs a little more than other bikes on the track as well. the yz is fast, powerful, and light. its made for motocross and works great on the track. more power than you'll ever need there. for the desert meaning glamis sand dunes its awesome except for the 4 gears make the engine work kind of hard when your flat out. and its not the fastest bike flat out either. People will pass you. yet riding around the dunes the power is great. in baja the bike is good through the rocks, up and down the hills and through the ravines you feel like your on the whoopie de doos from the track. the bike is great for the desert you will pass people everywhere except flat out you will get passed. luckily in baja its not always flat terrain. also ther are no lights, kickstand, electric start, fuel tank, extra guards for rocks.. so you'll need that. i already have the yz so i am buying the parts necessary to make it baja worthy. including a steering dampener. The WR on the other hand comes with most of the parts such as lighting, kickstand, electric start. Howerver the tank is too small, needs a chain, and i believe some extra guards for desert. For motocross you will have to change the suspension and thats pretty much it. and since you already do that... Get the WR for lighting and electric start
  2. i have rear wheel complete with sprocket and sand tire.
  3. Youre not kiddin. That bike is sick. The 2006 XR650. Wow. Got me thinking now.
  4. starts at $9k. Thats a little more than i'd like to spend. But thanks for the help. I have a girlfriend thats already trying to broke me. Dont need anymore help.
  5. yes. we all are just having fun here. lol
  6. I think your right on there. gotta get lights, kickstand, gas tank, steering dampener, skid plate, change gearing, all should be less than selling the yz for $4k and buying WR for $7k.
  7. Motogoalie you should change your name to moto gay because i am going to drive that Tornado up your a@@.
  8. yeah. KTM seems like the best bike to get for Baja.
  9. who makes the 525?
  10. I have a yzf450 2004. 2 years old now. Runs excellent. However, i go to the track mostly and just started going to Baja. I really like Baja and the track a little less. Don't really go to the Dunes anymore. Want to start riding Baja more and know will go to the track once every 2 months. Obviously the stock 450 needs additions to make it Baja worthy; fuel tank, skid plate, light, kickstand, steering dampener... the list goes on. i weigh 200 pounds and feel the 450 is a little powerful for the track; my friend rides a 250 four stroke Suzuki at Lake Elsinore and does fine. What should i do? Buy all the parts for my 450 and use it for track and Baja? or should i sell it and get a WR450 and use that for track and Baja? or just bite the bullet and have two bikes even though i ride only 1 every 2 months?

  12. live in San Diego. Just road the ensanada baja offroad race. awesome time. Bike road great.
  13. How much do you think you can sell a 2004 yz 450f for in So Cal? It's all stock and looks like it hasnt been riddent too much. All in excellent working order.
  14. Total for bike $375 including $125 parts. so that means not much for they replaced the gasket between the head and the valve cover (not covered by warranty). Gave me a new air filter, and adjusted the valves.
  15. they are going to adjust the valves and do their #point inspection. i usually know thats bullcrap for cars. 21pt inspection means pay me to do nothing.
