    DRZ Throttle cables

    I'm in need of replacement throttle cables that won't hit my engine case. Changing from Edlebrock carb to a MX carb and the cables hit. Which model has the curbed cables to clear the engine case? S, E, SM?

    USED FCRMX Install - no start

    I have the right plug for the vacuum line. I started the bike 2 weeks ago with the gas in there and it started with the old carb, but did add a gallon of fresh gas. I did try the petcock on prime as well. It seems I'm not getting enough fuel in the bowl, will need to pull the bowl and check the float.

    actually the plug was bone dry, so I'm not getting fuel. carb was bought used. fairly sure it's a FCR MX carb.     USED FCRMX Install - no start

    Finally getting around to finishing up the FCRMX install on my 02 DRZ400S. Been waiting for jets, extd fuel screw, O rings, etc. Installed and now the bike won't start. So far I've relocated the mounting bracket, installed manifold nipple and run it to the fuel petcock, installed extd fuel screw (2 turns out), completed O ring mod, installed correct jetting (155 main, 45 pilot) and changed needle (EMS) per the chart. bike turns over, but won't fire. I pulled plug and I'm getting spark. I am able to drain gas from the carb drain so I believe I'm getting fuel. The carb has two plugs (red and black) on my MX carb. I believe the red one is for choke, but what is the black one for? It's been a while since I started this project so I'm trying to remember if I disconnected anything. There's a triangular black plug at the top of the airbox. I don't remember it going to anything, can anyone confirm? It's a male plug that fits the TPS plus off the FCRMX Carb, which I've just zip tied under the seat. Problems: mainly the bike won't start. choke (red plug) hits fuel petcock, need new cables as mine are hitting the engine. (my bike came with Edlebrock carb and different cables). I couldn't get them to fit the FCRMX carb, not long enough and the cables that came with the carb hit the engine. I was told this combo came from another 400S. anyone care to take a guess?

    carb leaking

    can I use a generic O ring from HD? The smallest one I found is a #5, but it looks thicker.
  7. Finally got the right jets for my MX FCR for my DRZ. Installed the carb and now I have a leak. It's not at the plug where you get to the jets, it's at the other plate next to it. The one with 3 screws and a rubber o-ring/diaphram & spring inside. Bike sputters and almost turns over. trying to get leak fixed.
  8. is it possible to replace the seal at the shifter? I stripped my shifter at the last 8 hr endurance hs and noticed the seal started to leak shortly after. I'm hoping to avoid having to tear the engine apart to replace the seal. lucky for now as it's only a minor leak, but it will need attention soon.

  12. my 02 DRZ converted SM came with an Edlebrock carb. Initially I had an issue with it, but after adjusting the float the problems went away. I not had a problem since. I can't speak about the install or any tuning problems as mine was on the bike already. Mine works better on the bike than on the desk as a paper weight. The previous owner claimed the bike put out 48hp when he tuned it on the dyno (high compression piston, hot cams intake/exhaust, air box mod, stock exhaust with baffle removed). I haven't had it on the dyno to confirm the hp figure yet. There's only a couple other people I talked to online that were happy with the Edlebrock carb. I also haven't ridden another DRZ with FCR to compare.

Trying to tame my 03 YZ450F for the woods. reinstalled the stock exhaust (had Pro Circuit Ti race system) and now I'm going to install a Rekluse clutch. how much extra weight does the rekluse add to the flywheel, 3oz? Also how much heavier is the 05 YZ450F vs the 03 YZ450F? Considering that option if the rekluse doesn't do it. thanks.

    Vapor install on DRZ S

    rec'd the Vapor kit and the magnetic bolts they provide won't work with my setup. The bolts stick out too far and hit the fork when the wheel turns. Are you guys JB welding yours to the rotor? Are you rebalancing your wheel afterward? Won't that cause the wheel to be out of balanced? also, my DRZ has the larger rotor and uses the stock brake caliper with an adapter. I don't think the sensor will fit where Trailtech suggest. Anyone have any pics of their install on their DRZ S model? Thanks.
