    09 CRF450R Need Help

Yes I have been calling American Honda Customer Service, although the bike isn't working they have paid for all the repairs to date. They were able to track my calls along with the repairs at the dealership and and could see that the bike has been in the shop since we purchased it. And that is why their paying for the repairs. So a word to the wise always call Customer Service.

    09 CRF450R Need Help

I was hoping for a miracle. I'm frustrated, it's hard to see your son go out an purchase his first bike on his own and then have the problems he's haven. That's a lot of money for a young man to spend and get nothing in return. Maybe he can sell the bike as parts (part it out).

My post is a plea for help. Is there someone listening who has had similar problems with the bike and what was the solution? I will probably buy Honda again but I've lost 7-months of "money opportunities" riding an 09 HONDA CRF450R plus the depreciation of the bike plus $1,200.00 supension work. I'm looking for answers! BTW I changed the oil.

    09 CRF450R Need Help

I think you're right that's why I changed dealership. I like Hondas, owned TEN of them and have always had great success with them. And will buy Hondas in the future but this one has been a problem. Also, owned the following and never a problem like this. 7-Kawasaki 1-Husky 1-ATK 1-KTM 2-Suzuki 1-BMW

Oil changes are not the problem, there are only 6-hrs on the bike and we've changed oil.

How does that help me?? I can't change when the bike was purchased. Ok, since I purchased the bike in January what's the fix? Is there something I should know about bikes purchased in January? I'm in the dark here.

    09 CRF450R Need Help

My son purchased an 09 CRF450R in January 09 and it's been in the shop since. We have about 6hrs on the bike. All the work on the bike has been done by Honda dealerships. They fixed it, we test ride it... broke again. One time we only made it to stagging before it seized. It all started with the decomperssion pin. They have replaced the head, cylinder, cam, timing chain, timing chain guide, stator, throttle body assembly that I know of. American Honda has been working with us, but the 2010's will be out soon and I have an 09 that I can't do anything with. I need to talk to an expert mechanic. Timeline of events: Bike Locked Up: Dealership repaired the Decompression pin Got the bike back: Seized the cam bearing into the head from the truck to stagging...replaced head, cylinder, cam etc... Got the bike back: Made a few laps then the bike started spitting and sputtering, it would crank but when you reved it on the stand it was spitting and sputtering. Dealership replaced stator, throttle body assembly, timing chain, chain guide Got the bike back: Made a few laps then the bike a code flashed on the mechanic suggested we ride the bike and bring it back and he would reset the computer??? over the weekend it started spitting and sputtering again. Changed Dealership: Found loose ground wire. Got the bike back After the second practice same day. It's like the decomperssion pin problem again. Can't start hard to kick over. Bring the bike back to the Dealership Tuesday. I will say American Honda has made all the repairs to date. They always remind me that the bike does not have a warranty and they are fixing the bike as good will. I appreciate it but like I told them at this point I need to know if the bike can be fixed just tell me who can fix it. We've losted 7-months of use of the bike.

I would not buy the 09 Honda CRF450! It's a first year bike and it has problems! My son purchased an 09 CRF450 in January 09 and it's been in the shop since. We have about 6hrs on the bike. All the work on the bike has been by Honda dealerships, they fixed it, after about 20 laps it's broke again. One time we only made it to stagging before it seized. It all started with the decomperssion pin. They have replaced the head, cylinder, cam, timing chain, timing chain guide, stator, throttle body assembly that I know of. Striped out threads oil plug

I striped out the threads in my case where my oil plug goes in...brought it to my local shop to repair.....they installed a heater something?....now the oil will not drain out....as it turns out the oil drains out through small holes within the threads which is now blocked by the heater something?....any advice.
