Japanese 450's or 525sx Ktm in sand riding

He has a 300 ktm. It's the age, your right and I need every edge possible just to ride behind him. Maybe a lighter bike and a scotts damper will make me more confident in that soup! Don

Good suggestions Brian, suprised when you said 300 ktm, that's what my son has ('03 300sx) excellent for him! My 440 feels like a heavy hog. I've been salivating over those crf500af on Service Honda's site for awhile now. I have experienced the overheat you mentioned also on a '02 480 Husaberg (fourstroke) I had awhile back. I attributed that to not having a fan on the radiator like most of the newer guads do. Good stuff Brian thanks, Don
  3. Re: crf450r or ktm 525sx in sand, play bike I'm 55 and 200 lbs. I ride in sand mostly since my son got old enough to now ride there, I'm trying to keep up to him as much as possible. I want to trade in my '95 ktm 440 2stroke, 250 lbs. for a 450 thumper (honda suzuki yamaha ktm). I think it's best to keep the weight down around 220 or 230. I tend to think the jap bikes are best for me (220 lbs.) alum, frame etc. but the local dealer has a demo ktm 525 sx for 4800 (great condition) and is tempting. I've heard alum frame hard to service carb etc.
