  1. Hi all, This is my first post on this site, but I've been reading quite a lot already. I just bought a 91 DR350S from a guy, true mileage unknown, shows 5k on the clock, but he said it wasn't working when he got it. Anyhow, when I crank it, there seems to be a slight knocking coming from the head area. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. If you pull in the clutch slightly and give it a little gas, the knocking seems to let up, release the throttle back to idle, and the knock comes back. He said it had done that since he had it, maybe maybe not, who knows. Are these engines known for rod knocking? Any suggestions on what to check? Piston, timing chain, valves? I changed the oil and noticed a few metal flakes in the oil. Should I run it till it dies or try to do some pm before something major happens? It seems to run fine, has good power, no rocket by any means though. I just want something street legal to tool around on until I get back into shape and maybe get something else. Thanks for any input. Richard
