  4. I currently have in my bike 178 main jet 48 pilot stock needle (N3EJ) at clip #1 air screw 1.5 turns out 40;1 mix with 91 octane pump gas FMF fatty gold series pipe fmf power core2 silencer built in spark arrestor no other mods ! will be riding in sand no paddle elevation 0-600 70 degree temp I had this in the jetting forum but after reading lots of post requesting help,....it never came. so I though I would erase my post from there and ask like minded YZ owners. When I bought the bike the guy had all stock jetting except with same mods and ran same gas. he had installed a 182 main. he did say he took it to Glamis 2 times. This might be why he upped the main jet. The first and only 2 times I took it out it spooged alot, and with lots of smoke. I rode at 1000ft elevation. Reading between the lines while searching for answers it seems that the fmf fatty pipe along with the power core 2 silencer will make the bike run rich compared to stock. true??? I though I would drop the needle a clip and install one size smaller pilot. will my new setup be too lean for the sand. opinions please. stock settings for my 2005 yz250 are 178 main jet 50 pilot needle on clip 2 (N3EJ) air screw 1.5 turns out with stock pipe and silencer

I'm looking for a riding partner. I have no truck to get my bike anywhere so I need a ride. I will ride anywhere. I dont work weekends. I have flexible schedule during the week. I have a yz250 with stock tank so the only thing that my hinder is long rides. I am willing to pay for gas to get to riding spot. just a bit about me so you know what to expect. I'm 30 years old, 3 kids, married 10 years, intermediate rider, fairly conservative person/rider in general (not willing to risk killing myself with too much air beneath me and my bike)..... I feel like this is the "personals section" PM me if anyone is will to rid:thumbsup: e.
  8. I have a 2005 yz250 it came with a FMF gold series fatty pipe and a FMF Power core 2 silencer on it. I just rejetted the bike for this combo (the guy I bought it from had inproper jetting, it spooged all over) and now I'm thinking I should have asked these questions before spent time on the jetting. How does this combo change the performance of my bike from stock equipment. I was given stock pipe and silencer with bike. . does anyone know if the FMF Power core 2 is more of a woods/trail silencer mellowing out the power band (power core 2 has a spark arrestor). What I am looking for is less of a woods/trail bike and more of a moto bike. do I keep the combo I have? do I keep fatty pipe and put stock silencer back on? opinions please,... I dont mind have to rejet againg for the best combo.

med will fit you I am 5'10" 165 and I just got my medium in today I have it on the smallest settings possible and it is still to big I had to retrofit it to fit me. the part that the back piece fits into has 2 shims and you can adjust the back piece by inserting the bracket (lack of better terms) into the neck part on either side of the shims or in the middle of the shims. there is also a wedge that you can insert to help the fit. this will allow the back piece to run strait down the back and give a snug/firm fit. like I said I am too small for even the smallest settings with the wedge inserted. I know I will get flack for this but I drilled out the holes and bolted (with 8/32 screws, washers and nuts)to the inside of the neck brace. the brace now fits securely. snug on my chest, rests on my shoulders, and the back brace now holds nicely down my back. long story short the Med will fit you.
  10. I asked this in the yamahe 2 stroke forum but thought i might get more imput here. I just purchased a very clean 2005 yz250. I'm new to owning a bike that requires premix, with that said. the original owner I purchased it from ran Motul 800 premix with 91 octane pump gas at 40:1. the bike seems to run great. Because I'm new to 2 strokes I don't have anything to compare it to. I was reading about what kind of fuel people run. I live 3 blocks from a small airport so I decided to go with a recommended AV gas 100LL. I mixed up at 40:1 100LL fuel with Motorex Cross Power 2T Full synthetic (recommended from local shop as being the best they sell). I emptied the tank of fuel that was in the bike when I bought it and poured in the new mix. I fired it up (first kick) and it now seems to run like crap. it smokes really bad and doesn't sound like it is firing evenly and consistently. not like a bog but small inconsistent popping. I only ran the bike for about 30 seconds and in neutral while reving it. So I did not get it up to operating temp. How bad does this info sound to you guys. Can I go out and run it like this tomorrow with the new fuel mix or should I not have messed with anything that obviously worked. This my be a case of "If it ain't broke don't fix it" type of thing. Could my jetting just be off for the new fuel.
