  1. Has anyone tried a 14/49 combo for offroad? What was your impression and does it take away too much top end speed? I only ride street to get to the trails.
  2. Thanks for the feed back and direction everyone. Over the past couple weeks the KLX has been striped of 12lbs worth of junk, gotten a new skid pan (White Bros), case guards, and Maxxis knobbies. Time spent on the airbox mod, including backfire screen removal, was rewarded with a noticable increase in power. Next on the list are gearing changes, re-jetting the carb (any feed back on recommended kits for the "S" would be appreciated) and an FMF Q-2 silencer. Happy landings.
  3. Where can I find that cool muffler bracket that I have seen on some bikes after removing the passenger foot pegs?
  4. I'm beginning to make mods on the new KLX400sr and want to know which air filters you would most recommend. I'm leaning toward the K&N but is it worth the extra cleaning hassles?

I have just purchased an '03 KLX400, box stock, left-over inventory from a local dealer. What are your most recommended "must do" mods for the engine and suspension to make this bike super reliable and maximum fun to ride (75% offroad)? Thanks...W
