I just recently bought an '02 WR250F and took it to do some power line riding today for the first time. It far exceeded my expectations. If the bike hasn't been modified to any great extreme you should get about 30 miles to the gallon. I tackled mud pits, open fields, and wooded trails and it was great! I was riding with my son at times, I had no prblems at low speeds as he is getting used to his PW80. That four stroke has no issues with lugging around in 1st or 2nd gear. But it can also get the front wheel up in 1st through 3rd. It handled great in the tight stuff too. My nephew, who has ridden YZ 2 strokes for the most part, said the bikes feels and rides a lighter than he thought a four stroke would. Trails=WR IMO.
  2. Greetings all. I am a proud new owner of a 2002 WR250F. I bought from a dealer. It was trded in with only 95 miles on it. Still had the rubber hiars on the stock tires, flawless. Theywanted $3800, I walked out the door with it for $2,900. I have riden it 3 times and I love this bike. I am 34 and havn't riden since high school. I got my son a '01 PW80 for Xmass. Just bored it out twice over, new piston, rings, etc.. I got the bike to ride with him and find myself falling in love with the sport all over again. Anyway, enough with the back story, here is my question. I have done the grey wire and throttle stop mods and removed the airbox cover, the rest is stock. After the bike is warmed up and I'm riding the bike seems to have two idles. If I pull in the clutch it seems to idle high as if the choke is on (maybe not quite that high). It's the same when I'm cruising in gear. It's only when I use the brake does it the idle drop to a normal level. Is there a reason for this or is it normal? Sorry for the long post, it's my first time (be gentle with me and respect me in the morning) Thanks guys, great site!!!!!
