  1. What day were you thing of? I am in Lexington, VA.
  2. Dennis, that is a fine looking DRZ you have. How do you like the Rekluse? I think you guys should hand out rain checks and do the ride again so us old sugar cubes can come without fear of melting from the rain. lol...
  3. I am 59 and 5'10'' short. I recently upgraded from a DRZ400 to a KTM 450EXC. I love it. However, you being 5'6", may present a problem with your feen not reaching the ground. I recommend you sit on one before you decide.
  4. When I bought my new '08 450 EXC from Moto Virginia last January, they (Dirk) recommended the F2 Racing kit and as part of the overall deal he agreeded to do the install. We thought it best to wait until the bike had around 15 hours before the install. During this wait period I installed a Rekluse auto clutch (highly recommended), the higher capacity battery (highly recommended), and a bunch of other stuff. So here is my experience: -Dirk ordered the kit and after a number of false shipments and other issues, the kit arrived four weeks late. - I dropped the bike of yesterday at 1pm and Dirk started on it right away. - It was ready (almost) at around 5pm. There is a lot more to this kit that installing a new jet. The instructions include removing all the smog stuff, modifying the air box, and the muffler exhaust tip. Dirk is very meticulous. -At 5pm, Dirk started it up and it did start right up. I could tell right away that the motor was running smoother and the muffler was muffling less. -The next 30 minutes Dirk spent fine tuning the engine and test riding it. (Dirk always goes the extra mile...) -Then he handed it over to me for approval. - All I can say is WOW. The only negative is that the bike is louder and I guess I can learn to live with that. I prefer quite. - Did I say WOW? The bike idles as smooth as butter and the front wheel comes up with little or no provication. - ...hang on...
  5. Did you fabricate the black side pads or did the tank come with them? My tank had none and I haven't seen them before now. Tell us more...
  6. I believe the Mussy is the quieter of the two. With the spark arrestor in place, it is about the same as stock but a bit deeper. Be sure to change the header pipe as well else it will be for looks only.
  7. Two great bikes.
  8. Hmm. I am picking up my new 530 today and the OTD price was $7,004, and that includes a jet kit. ... and that includes the dealer installing it and removing the extra weight associated with that! YaHooooooo... (seven thousand and four, US dollars) Whopppeeee... I will however, have to pay the sales tax and registration when I go to DMV for the tags. That should be less than $300. The dealer is Moto Virginia of Charlottesville. Very nice people. Does anyond need an extra, tricked out DRZ400, driven only on Sundays by a 59 year old man?
  9. Were there any issues with the seat? How about some pictures? Thanks
  10. Here (I hope) is a picture of a cut/filed one-finger lever. Message edit: Sorry, I was not clear as to why this lever is so short. I don't use the clutch when shifting and a Rekluse auto clutch handles the start off from 1st gear. I only pull the lever when I rev the engine and don't want to "take off".
  11. I just installed 1017-00092 2005-2007 DRZ-400S/SM Duel Sport/Super Motard Stainless Muzzy Exhaust System W/Oval Titanium Canister and in the kit there were four identical springs. Two are to attach the muffler to the midpipe and those are fine, However, the other two that attach the headder pipe to the mid pipe are not. The springs go on without any tension. Either the springs are too long or the loops that the springs attach to are too close. Has anyone else come across this? Thanks.

  13. Has anyone with a DRC edge tail light seen this? I went riding some really nasty, rocky, woods yesterday and my license plate kept getting bent in the up direction. I can't see any evidence of it being hit by rocks ot the rear tire. Please don't tell me that the plate was getting a hard on from the ride - it was good but not that good... http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1203/1185307650_58752fe54b.jpg
  14. I can remember that back in the late 50's and early 60's everything from Japan was considered to be 'cheap", even more so than what we think of China today. In the not too distant future, products from China will be the quality of what Japan produces today, only 'cheaper" (lower cost, lol)...
