    switching tanks

I need a tank, mine is full of abuse from the previous owner. Can you send me a Private message with cost and info? I also need a seat if anyone has one for cheap. Thanks.

    Starter on 650L

Hi, Question about starter on 93' 650L. The bike turns over good and starts if I jump the battery, but will only turn very slow, and selenoid? clicks if not jumped. Battery is new and charged, reads 12v, terminals are clean. Any ideas? are these starters pretty tough? I don't find much info on starter kits or rebuilds, etc. Does the selenoid go out? Anything else to check? How else to check the battery? Any info would help, this is my 1st project bike since I was little. Thanks, TL

    jets for 93' 650L

Hi, I am working on a real fixer upper. I got the carb apart again, and the jets are a 55s and a 155. The bike is stock as far as I know and I don't plan on changing much, maybe a better airfilter and blocking the smog stuff. Are these the stock jets, should I think about upgading. (I'm not planning on high elevation, or racing, I just want it to run and start good.) Also how far out should that little screw on the bottom of the engine side throat be ( I think it is the mixture screw?). Thanks TL

    backfire, intake leak?

Thanks for the info so far, any more ideas & tips are welcomed! The bike is stock, I might need to replace the jets as they may have corroded a bit (especially the screw that comes up from the bottom in the front that i think is the air screw {Please correct me if im wrong i am guessing}). If im not planning on upgrading the exhaust or the airfilter I should probably stick w/ factory jets right? Is the "intake rubber" or the carb insulater supposed to be in 2 pieces that just slide together? enough for now, thanks again - TL

    backfire, intake leak?

Hi, I just acquired a 93' XR650L that was really abused, I cleaned the carb well, and got it started on clean fuel, the two piece intake rubber between the carb and the head is pretty hard. The problem is it runs ok but I have to choke it a little to keep it idleing and it backfires and blows small flames back at low RPM. Before I die, I was wondering if the leak could be the solo cause? How to fix it? (RTV blue?), if the carb is set wrong? or if I should check something else like the emission crap/vacum hoses or the valves. It runs pretty well (in the garage) and less-none backfire when I rev it up. Any help would be great. I just "saved" this bike from the salvage and I think it is gonna kick butt. Thanks again - TL
