    Is my timing lined up right?

    You are off 1 tooth. There needs to be 13 timing chain pins in between the 2 timing marks. You might have to remove the spark plug if ithe gears keeps moving from the compression.

    Wiseco makes 2 different pistons for this engine. a GP version and a OEM style. I had this problem also. On 1 of the styles I had to drill 2 oil holes for the exhaust bridge. You can run either 1, only lowers the compression by a little.

    First off, you can not hone the cylinder as it is nikasil. Send the cylinder out to get replated. The rings probably could not seal to the cylinder wall as there was no cross hatching to break the rings in. The clutch plates all look fine, mic them to see if they are all in spec. The black one looks like it was slipping a little, causing it to burn, ompletely normal. As far as the hard clutch pull, check to see if concave washer in basket was installed correctly.

    Different friction plates?

    The 2 end plates have smaller pads to help diisapate the heat better. Since the pads are smaller there are more of them. Most after market friction plates do not have different end plates.

    I went to a bigger leak jet, not sure about Boyseen quick shot but I thought that changed the duration but not the volume, but I may be wrong. You could also have a small air leak at carb boot causing a lean condition and a bog. Just a thought.

    check to see if a clutch plate broke and is inside trans. Had this happen to me once. If not it is probably the lower rod bearing.

    I was cleaning the 04 rm250 today, and I noticed the power valve vent tube/elbow is missing from the engine. Anyone know where I can get a replacement or make one? thanks

    loud popping and strange idling

    The pilot jet is 1 size to small. Adjust fuel screw to richen it up to eliminate popping.

    Iridium plugs never go bad unless you crack them. Make sure you are getting a good spark from stator/ capacitor setup. This makes the bike hard to start, causes a weak spark.

    Here's another thought. try pulling the crank from flywheel. Radius on crank end could be rubbing bearing that got pulled in when torqued primary gear bolt.
