  1. Admin, Please delete this post. Well...Here we are again. Bike locked up this past weekend again (2/18/2017). I'll try to remember to give an update as soon as I figure out what happened this time! I haven't been on here in quite some time due to injuries.
  2. The shift stop bearing will also come apart on a 2014 YZ250. The bearing has several small "balls" in the bearing that are about the size of an ink pen ball. My son's came apart in the final moto a couple of weeks ago. Luckily just causing the bike to be stuck in 2nd gear. No major damage. Did have to split the cases to find the other balls and shrapnel!
  3. Have you shipped bars?
  4. MXRider72, Payment has been sent for bars. Thanks!
  5. MXRider72, I may be interested in your stock bars! Where are you located?
  6. Does anyone know the bend of the factory bars? A crash took ours out this weekend. Need some new ones. Son likes the factory bend. I don't like the factory price. Retail on those babys are @ $160! That's before any discount. Thanks!
  7. There is a small tear in my son's seat on his yz250. It's really small at this time. What is a good way to keep it from tearing any further? Is there a tip or trick?
  8. Yamaha goodwilled crank #3 for me. They suggested that I get away from Amsoil Dominator & go to Yamalube 2R at 32:1. Jetting seems to be on(tweaked a/s & went up one size on main Jet). The motor builder said nothing negative as far as the leakdown test. Broke motor in last weekend. Raced three classes(6 motos). Put 2 hours on bike. No issues in this short time. We'll give it another shot this weekend.

  10. Well, at this point(April 13, 2014). A new crank, bearings, seals, and top end lasted this time...8-9 hours. Contacted Yamaha again. This time Customer Support and Corporate. Hoping to hear back from them tomorrow again. This has me at a total loss. Set up as before Dominator 32:1 Main jet up 2 sizes. I'm emailing member some pics of plug and piston. Maybe he can post them for me. Factory and 2nd crank lasted 8-9 hrs each. ?
  11. Well...I guess I'll have to figure out how to post a pic on here! LOL!
  12. Broke motor down this past week. Seems that lower rod bearing came apart. Not exactly sure what it was. Just thinking it was a one in a million questionable bearing(should go to Vegas!). I will try to get some pics posted of the crank and spark plug. Put motor back together and got it broke in with no problems! My son raced the bike this weekend. Amsoil Dominator at 40:1 w/ 50/50 mix of 93 pump gas and 110 Renegade. Took several plug readings and ended up with the air screw turned in 1/4+ in and a 182 main jet. I may try a mix of 2 gal of 93 w/ 1 gal of 110. Maybe that will richen it up just a bit by removing some of the oxygenated race gas. I'm going to play with it a with it a bit, find a good combinitaion and stick with it. BTW IntoTheVoid, My son does get around the track pretty well at times. He is also almost 5'10" and 195lbs. He's not a small kid by any means. He's been riding since he was 5 yrs old and racing since he was 6. He loves the 2 stroke machine. The 125's just didn't please his desires, so to the 250 we went!
  13. I tried to discuss with them the lack of cylinder damage doesn't point to a "lubrication issue". I will not buy another bike to go along with this one, nor will I buy two new yamaha race bikes next year. We've never had only one bike at a time. If this one lets me down again, we'll just pack up and go home. Anyway, In the long run, it's cheaper for me to buy the parts and do the work myself than to have them furnish parts and I pay for labor. My delima now is what to do different to prevent the problem from happening again.
  14. Yamaha declined any help at all. They recommended 32:1 & 27:1 for break in. I mixed slighly richer at 34ish, after break in...so I had a "lubrication error". However, they couldn't tell me what the problem was or what to do different to avoid this problem again. I asked SEVERAL times if there could have been a bearing issue. I have seriously been thinking about changing oils. What do you guys recommend? I've had some Motul 800 2t , 927, and K2. I've never had any issues with any brand of 2stroke oil. 927 was quite "gummy". Jetting changes? I'm thinking about going to a 180 main, just to settle my nerves. ???? On fresh rebuild... 3 gal 91/91 HO + 1 gal 110= 96 minimum octane (95 recommended) 40:1 with ???? oil? Maybe 180 Main jet Our CR125's ran 50/50mix of 91/110 at 40:1 Dominator. I want to find a solid set up and stick with it!
  15. I bought my 13 yr old son a '14 YZ250. The lower rod bearing on crank locked up on 3rd ride, including break in of 1-1.5hrs @ 27:1 premix(Dealer mixed and prepped). Bike has stock jetting. Ran 91 or 93 Shell high octane & Renegade 110 mixed 50/50 w Amsoil Dominator @ 34ish:1. Plug is dry, but isn't paper white to make me think it was too lean. Cylinder & rings aren't damaged. Piston has some roughness on crown, possibly part of bearing shrapnel bouncing around. I'm thinking it was a bearing issue, as is most people I've talked to, including a couple of motor builders and Yamaha personnel. Yamaha is saying it looks like "lack of lubrication". It's hard to believe that 34:1 had a lubrication issue without other problems. What would you guys recommend that I do? I can't think of anything that I would do different with a another new bike. This isn't my first rodeo. Counting back, this is the 17th bike that we've had the last 7yrs. From 50cc's up to this yz250. No unfounded catastrophic failures until now. I would do the same procedures again with a new bike. If it wasn't a questionable bearing, what could it have been? I don't want to have the same thing happen again! I've had several yz owners say run 40:1 New crank, seals, bearings, & topend kit will be here soon! Time to rebuild, but what to change to another lockup? Thanks!
