  1. I think I'm gonna change my nickname to "NoTime4Rest". Thanks to all for your patience today. You guys sure know how to lay it down!
  2. I'd like to join in. I've been wanting to try Elkins but wanted to go with some folks who know their way around.
  3. Never been to Elkins flat and would rather tag along with some folks who know their way around. Mind if I follow? BTW - Can anybody sum up how technical this type of ride is?
  4. Broken shoulder?! Glad to hear she's getting back in the saddle so fast! I might be down for Mammoth on Sunday. I've never been riding there.
  5. Prairie City is easy to get to and easy to ride. I take my daughter out there sometimes in the middle of the week, just to avoid crowds. They are closed on Wednesdays though. http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1221 According to the site, Red Sticker riding season there is October 15 through April 15, so you may want to consider buying a green sticker bike.
  6. I found this online. Haven't been there in person (yet). You'd need to call to confirm whether or not its open. http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sequoia/recreation/ohv-osv/hl/hl_ohv_map.html Hope it helps!
  7. Is it a "gray" area? Are there signs posted? My brother lives in Visalia and I was sort of looking for a place around there that I could ride trail. If you can, let us know where it is!
  8. I surely agree with you on the XRs. I bought an XR185 about 16 years ago and although it is beat to hell (was 11 years old when I bought it), I still like to ride it. The problem I have is that I'm 6'2" and 260 lbs. I feel like I'm riding with my knees in my chest (although the bike has impressive power for its size/age). I recently bought an '02 XR400R, for these reasons: 1) Every Honda I've ever owned has been very reliable (ATC90, CR125 Elsinore, XL125, XR185). 2) Green sticker bike. 3) It was in great shape and I picked it up for about 1/2 of the cost of a new bike. 4) The XR400 suits my height/weight. My 2 cents. Good luck!
  9. I worked on it up until about 1/2 hour ago, but couldn't get my bike ready for this. Sorry I missed out...hope to catch up with you all another time.
  10. Yeah, I've been through there a couple of times and I've got it mapped out. If I can make it, I'll be in a black Dodge Ram with a Honda XR400R. Hope to see you Saturday!
  11. I've never ridden in this area before. I'd like to tag along, if I can get my scooter ready in time!
  12. So true. I was born and raised in Porterville, my folks in Tulare/Visalia. About 25-30 years ago, Porterville was close to a lot of great places to ride (anyone remember Woody or Oildale?). I don't think there's many places left around there anymore. I was wondering if it is still possible to ride the Old Stagecoach road from Terra Bella to California Hot Springs? My dad and brother and I used to do that a lot! Oh, the good ole' days!!!
  13. My 2¢: I'm 38 (male) and I had significant acne problems duing my high school days. I too tried everything that was available to me (they've all been mentioned). After I turned 25 or so, the acne went away. For me personally, the most effective medicine was Retin-A. I found a link to some info: http://www.skinsite.com/info_retin_a.htm The worst side-effect was that you can damage your skin if you stay in the sunlight for very long.
  14. Sounds like a plan! I will give you a shout next time I'm headed to Prairie City. I'll probably be going out there tomorrow morning.
  15. I live in Cameron Park.
