    Offroad motorcycle tours

Hey everyone, looking for some good ideas on offroad motorcycle tours. A group of 8 of us are trying to get accepted to the Colorado 500 but it's unlikely all 8 of us are going to get excepted so we're looking for something all of us can get into. We've already done Arizona to Mexico, a trip to Trials training center and the Hatfield/McCoy trail systems. We're looking for something Midwest (no farther than colorado or something Canada or Northeastern U.S. We want something mostly single track, 4-5 days of riding with a guide or if it's something like a Hatfield/McCoy something layed out similiar to that system. We've considered looking into the Moab trip but that's just outside the distance we're looking to travel since we're paying someone to truck our bikes out and we plan to fly. We've looked through the back pages of dirtrider and most of the riding areas are Baja Mexico or California, any ideas would be great.

Spokes, that's exactly what we're looking for. Do you know of anyone willing to spend 3 day's of riding showing us the trials. We are willing to pay money to have a guide as long as they know what they are doing and can ride. We have 8 guys so it wouldn't be hard for us to make it worth someones time if they are willing. Shoot me an email if you have some information I could research. Like I said, we've gone on the Steve Hatch Offroad Adventures and Hatfield/McCoy and really enjoy doing things like this. We would just like to set something up so we can plan the trip. Thanks gmay@kionix.com

Thanks, but we're looking for more of a single track guided tour with challenging stuff.

  9. Anyone licence one in NY? I was told that the KTM's come with a Title that you can take to the DMV and license, I just picked up an 02 520EXC and I received a Certificate of Origin with the bike. I'm afraid they are going to laugh at me when I take this to the DMV. Did they start doing titles after a certain year or what? The other thing I'm worried about is the DMV giving me a hard time because it doesn't appear the previous owner payed sales tax because he was in PA and purchased in NY. Do you think they are going to give me a hard time and I'll have to get back in contact with the previous owner to have him pay sales tax. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be appreciated, I'm really looking forward to getting this thing licensec.

    *****ouch!!!******

My buddy did the same thing on a dirtroad and sh'arted as soon as his ass hit the ground, he had to go into the woods and clean himself up.
  12. Has anyone tried one? I saw a column in the latest Motocross Action this month where they are using it and like it alot. It's a 2 piece unit that makes putting your air filter on a breeze. I just purchased one for $70, haven't received it yet, so this is all unconfirmed info. They aren't claiming an increase in HP but they claim air filter maintenance is much easier and less frequent. I figured I would try it out, it can't be any worse that the current cage/filter system which with the K&N you don't need the cage. They claimed weight is about 2lbs versus the stock system which I haven't weighed to know what that wieghs in at. It looks identical to one you would buy for your vehicle with the same filtration element. Interested to see if anyone has tried one.

    Bubba needs to chill

I was at the race, pretty much the same angle the cameraman was, that was definetely a bonehead move whether or not he intended to land on him or not. RC was clearly faster and made a clean pass and to get taken out like that was BS and everyone that saw the crash was booing Bubba. Taking someone out in a corner can be somewhat tolerated... that's racing, when you jump on someone unless it's a blind jump and someone is down that's careless riding. That's when people get seriously injured, I can't believe AMA hasn't done something, they penalized Windham 25 points in SX that one year for rough riding and almost cost him a championship but Bubba hasn't been penalized and this wasn't his 1st incident this year.

    05' CRF450R, pipe recommendations

The tests I saw in the latest dirt rider show the stock pipe holds up very well against all the pipes out there. Unless you're trying to shed 3-4 pounds in weight it isn't worth the $700-800 to buy an aftermarket pipe and silencer. Just my .02! Check out the latest Dirt rider, they test the stock pipes on 450 Honda and 450 Suzuki then they through on several aftermarket pipes and tested, you'll see what I'm talking about, the Suzuki did have some significant improvements in power but the stock honda pipe did very well.
