    4 stroke engine noise

I have a 1985 yamaha bw200 4 stroke, the bike has not been used for 3-4 years, after I went through the whole bike and fired it up I am getting a loud ticking from the fwd top end, it is to loud to not worry. I checked the rocker arm gap, they are at .010 and inside the valve/rocker arm area looks good. I removed the l/side timing chain cover and everything looks ok, the chain is tight but not to tight. I checked the kick start decompression valve assy and it is operating correctly and is not contacting the rocker arm when at rest. HHHMMMMM ***, any one got any ideas Thanks, Fran

    Weak Spark

I checked everything with an ohm meter all looks ok, THEN the bike starts and runs like sh!! then dies, I kick it a million times (buy an electric start) and it ocassionally fires, I check output from cdi and nothing, I check input and big voltage, I know what is wrong now, I am mad as he!! at this point but temper is under control, and i get the thought of the century "BFH" actually handle of a small screwdriver and I tap on cdi then kick it once and holy freaking shizzle the bike come alive, it runs 100%. HMMMMMMMM I think the cdi is intermitten. CDI Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow night. I will cut open the cdi and "hopefully" find a bad solder joint or two. I will post pics and post surgery results when I am done. I haven't ridden this bike since I bought it, it was a screaming mess when I brought it home, but now it is all redone and just sitting in my garage, Determination will prevail and hopefully I can help out a fellow rider or two. Weak Spark

Hello All, I have a 1985 BW200, it had great spark, then it would run for 10 min and quit, now I get 1 good strong spark then only 1 weak spark with each kick (with the plug out so i get a good amount of rotations)??? I checked all the wiring, connections and even pulled the coil, cdi and voltage regulator and cleaned the grounds I am thinking coil?? I will measure thr resistance tonight and the cdi Input line for ac voltage and get back to this thread. Thanks, Fran

    carb problems need help

It sounds like you have a air/vacuum leak, try checking for a leak, let the bike idle and spray starter fluid (carefully) around the carb & intake area, if you get an increase in RPM's you have a air leak. I use starter fluid because the bike responds very quickly to it, but be sure to use it with caution. Good luck, Fran

  8. 99 XR100 Engine Problems I am looking for some help, I am considering buying a 99 XR100 that does not run (only $300), it has "zero" compression, when I slowly push down on the kick starter I can hear a very quiet clicking by the valves, I pulled the plug and with my finger in plug hole I kicked it over pretty hard and I get virtually no compression and no unusual noises besides the valve area clicking, I also checked the exhaust pipe and there is no compression being sent out the exhaust (stuck valve) I don't hear any air being sent back through the carb so I don't believe the valves are stuck open???, the guy told me he was riding it and it started to lose power so he shut it down, when he tried to start it it had no compression????? Any Feedback/idea's is welcome

    2000 xr100 engine noise

If you get a little smoke at full throttle it is probably a sign the rings are worn , if the bike runs fine and there is nothing else going on I would just enjoy it, you should probably plan on a top end rebuild in the future. I have seen bikes like yours run for a very long time that smoke a little. Keep an eye on it, if the smoke gets worse get the top end rebuilt. Best of luck, Fran

    Honda Need Help wTRX70 Wheels

I just bought new tires for my daughters 86 TRX70 and I am having a hell of a time getting the new tires mounted, they have 7" 2-piece wheels, I can only get one side to seat properly, if you are not familiar with the old style 2-piece wheel there is a 1/4 lip the tire has to go over on each side of the wheel before it is fully seated. I tried everything I can think of: Warmed up the tires so they are plyable, used soapy water on the tire and wheel, I secured the wheel to a piece of wood so I can push down on the tire while spinning it, I bolted the wheel togeather and put air in it hoping it would pressurize and push the tire out and seat properly, but it won't build enough pressure the air leaks out before the tire can seat, ????????????/// I would buy new one piece wheels, but thet don't sell a 7" diameter wheel anymore and I have the new tires I hate to just have sitting around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I go crazy

    2001 cr250 engine parts help

I have a 01 CR250 and I may need the right side crank case, I recently pulled mine apart and found the govenor very sloppy where it rotates in the crank case, there is a bushing that the govenor slides into on the case assy and mine is shot, the problem is the dealer doesn't list it and it is not shown on the micro-fiche. I am at a loss, I can't beleive I have to spend 300 Bucks for a r/side crank assy due to the bushing. If anyone has any insight on this it would be appreciated, and if you happen to have a case assy hanging around you want to part with. enjoy the season it looks like mine is over for this year. Thanks

    1990 XR 80 -- need help

Stick to the basics first, check the spark with a new plug, the back track up to the coil, check all the electrical connections, if it has a key check the continuity through the key, give us a heads up on what you have already done so we can recommend whats next. Hope it helps
