how to go street leagal in WA

wondering what it takes to go street legal in WA, anyone know? thanks-alrod
  4. i actually have another shaft from a parts motor and i also have a gaskets set, mostly i dont wanna get taken on the labor cost.
  5. whats a reasonable price to pay for a repair like this?? thanks-allan
  6. no, the shaft broke just outside the casing, the guy who gave me the quote said it was so much because the shaft runs all the way through and it would require the entire motor to be torn down and put back together. But yeah just the part of the shaft that has the actual kickstarter on if broke off. theres no way i can do an entire tear down by myself, i just dont have the tools or the skill. thanks-allan
  7. so i got this great deal on a 81 xr500 with a rebuilt and bored top end, the only problem with it is the guy broke the kickstart shaft trying to kick it over without a compression release. So i thought no big deal until i got the quote to have it fixed, $480 just for labor, im in a bind and i was wondering if there is any other way to fix the problem without replacing the shaft, like maybe a way to hook up an electric start or maybe weld it, i dont know i just thought someone on here might have some ideas? thanks-allan

    street legal xr500?

i know this is for 600/650 but theres no forum for the 500 so i was just wondering if anyone has been able to get their xr500 street legal in washington state? or anywhere for that matter, and also what does it take to get that way? I just picked up a 83 xr500 and i am hoping to be able to ride it to the trails. just wanted to know if anyone has any information on this. thanks
