  1. I second that, go buy one! Oh yeah, replace the rear light assembly too. The stock ones get eaten by the rear tire.
  2. Thanks guys, I'll try all of the above. Sounds like easy tasks to avoid taking another gas bath in the middle of a dry forest miles from civilization. Bogeyman, Did your bike "burp" fuel after you ceramic coated the pipe? Has anyone tried one of those reflective blankets/shield things you can buy aftermarket for the tank, wonder if those work? Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack this thread.
  3. Hey guys, Just got home from a ride in the Sierras near Truckee CA. After a long day of high altitude single track, my bike acted like it had run out of fuel. I was curious because I only had about 20 miles since I had refuled. When I poped the cap I was doused with a gyser of fuel which covered me and the bike. I thought the whole bike was going to ignite into a fire ball since the engine was hot. It didn't. Obviously my fuel was boiling and it had built up a lot of pressure in the tank. So, here are the mods I have done to the bike that I thought would prevent this from ever happening: KTM fan kit Reflective tape under all areas of the stock tank FMF muffler Engine Ice coolant De-smogged Things I don't have/didn't do yet: Still waiting for my 70 degree tank (since Feb.) Drill out or remove ball bearing from fuel cap ceramic coat the mid pipe I was hoping the mods I did would prevent me from having to do the rest, I guess I was wrong. What is unusual is it didn't do it till the end of the day, we were basically coming down out of the mountains, slow speeds, technical single track but hardly using the engine at all. I guess thats when heat builds up in the fuel? I would think going up the mountain on the same terrain would be when it would heat up. By the way, the engine never burped coolant and the fan seemed to work great - no engine overheating at all, just fuel. What do you guys think? Help me out. Dave FE570S 2011
  4. A couple of times, not as much as I would like, been buzy. Plus the desert is perfect right now so when I have time, its out there. Nor Cal has spectacular riding, you got some of the best right there. And like you said, Nevada isn't that far.

  6. My bad - I guess I meant more of a stall than flameout. The stock gearing on the FE570S (street legal) is 14/42 not 13/52 (oops, I need to edit my earlier post. I got confused), which is way to high, therefore making it real easy to "stall" out the motor when riding tight trails. Since changing to 13/48 its become a non-issue, the bike chugs through anything. Not even a hickup.
  7. Yea, that thing looks brand new, what a beauty. Now have fun scatching her all up. Though, now that Husabergs are becoming "classics" you may want to keep her pristine.

  9. I don't know how you would know for sure, but I ordered it direct from the manufacturer and they said they have sold all of the tanks they have produced. The ones you get now are on back order until the production of new tanks can catch up with the new orders. I called other sources of tanks (retail) and they said they were waiting for the next production of tanks too. John Wiser of 70 degree racing in an email to me (2/27): "Production actually started this week. Should have tanks to ship within two weeks." I'm pretty sure the ones you order now are going to be the new tanks, though I haven't heard any complaints about the old tanks.

Duken4evr, Since the seat takes 1/2 a second to take off, I was thinking you could just pull off the seat then the pull off the check valve when you are filling it up to help it fill faster and more completely? I don't know the location of your check valve but I assume its under the seat. . . . Just think'in Is the type of check valve you used just the typical one most of us have on our bikes anyway? EX:
  12. I don't think it should. It's only a little over 1 gallon and it sits low and centered. I'm not racing at a high competitive level where I'm going to notice it much, if at all. The extra range I will definitely notice though, I'm looking forward to some long range desert trips this spring. Maybe buy one of those Coyote Giant Loop saddlebags too for the extra gear. I better get to work and make some dough to pay for all this!
  13. Hey guys, Just ordered a 70 degree fuel tank. I've looked at some photos online and the installation looks pretty strait forward. So I have a few questions for those who have one: Any problems with the installation? What about the vent tubing coming off the top of the fuel cap, it looks akward - is it? Rumor has it they made some changes to the latest batch of tanks, do you know what they were. And the all important questions: What kind of range are you getting with it? And does it hold up? I know there is info spread around all the different websites but some of it is getting a bit dated, I was wanting some fresh input. Thanks

Yeah, I think I'm getting ya, Some parts on this bike are KTM compatible parts (like sprockets, lights, some plastic, bars, etc. . . ) If the parts guy looks up a part for you, a lot of the part #s are the same for both bikes. I forget what they are, but the part # start with the same group of numbers if it's a KTM matching part. I think the KTM dealers don't realize that there are a lot of KTM/Husa compatible parts, they need to cross check the numbers and they'll see that they match. Not all but some. I got this sprocket from my Husa dealer, about 75 bucks. They didn't have any other sprockets in stock and I was anxious to get one so i splurged. I think it comes right out of the parts catalog on line. The rear bolt on the chain guild has two settings. You can unbolt the rear bolt and pop out the backing threaded plate and turn it around so it can drop down to the lower setting. This will be obvious when you take it apart, it sounds confusing but it's not. You need to loosen up the forward bolt so the guild can rotate down. This will give you enough clearance for the larger sprocket. Hope this helps, Dave
