Thanks for coming... glad you had a good time! Mark you calendar for November 5th & 6th for the 2011 edition of the HAMMER RUN!

Last year someone changed the arrows and sent one of our guys into the underbrush where he promptly cracked his engine case on a large rock. That was hidden in the brush. Just remember we are the ones with permits to use the trails we use. I am told that we are only on two track and dirt roads over there this year.

Like Fish and Game said last year... someone illegally cut trails in a WMA (and it wasn't us) and they (F&G) are looking the other way. If there are problems like last year (markers torn down and changed, rocks put into the trails, etc.) we are to let them know then NO ONE will use the land. We have permits to use whatever the trail guys reported that we are using and they have been GPS'd and the files sent to and reviewed by DEC to get the permits... that is how it works now so whatever trails that are in that section are now officially on a DEC/F&G map for anyone who wants to apply for permits to use.
  4. OK people the pre-registration deadline is coming up quick (Nov 2nd) If you want to save $10 on the two day AND get a free "T" shirt you need to get your registration in the mail pronto! http://www.teamhammer.org/2010%20Stuff/TCS%202010%20Dualsport%20Flyer.pdf The trail teams have the trails in great shape and we found some old enduro trail that is wide open, fast and smooth. We also have some new firecuts that the section leaders say should have everyone grinning ear to ear... can anyone say bobsled run? This promises to be the best Hammer Run in a few years! Be there or when you hear about how good it was!

  6. If you are street legal (motorcycle tag NOT atv) I know The Hill pretty well.

The Rally Cars are there tomorrow... A bud that lives near the track saw Travis's rig pulling in yesterday.

All AMA sanctioned events require a sound test fail it and you don't run. Your silencer falls of during a race and you get DQed. The problem with the track is the CARS. As far as I am aware NO sanctioning body in auto racing requires mufflers or a sound check. By allowing cars to run without mufflers ALL tracks are shooting themselves in the foot. The local residents do not understand or care that the motorcycles will require silencers all they understand is the racing season will be extended and the hours of operation of the track will be extended also... To them that equals MORE NOISE PERIOD. The residents do have a good argument in that an off road track was and still is approved at the facility... it was approved for across the street (farther from their homes) and they have no problem with opening and off road track at the ORIGINAL approved location but the track owners do not want to spend the money to buy the property that has been pre-approved for the off road track. Instead the track wants to cheap out and build (I would estimate) a mile closer to residences.
  9. Definitely not bitchin' just getting it out that it's not all play to have an area like this available to ride in. When people hear about the place they all want to join the club but few want to work. Come to our HS in the Spring and you can ride the area again! If you are "plated" come to the Greenbriar and if you are legal come to our dual sport. We used to be able to ride down to "Port" as we called it when we were kids... never trailered just rode from home in Vineland hitting all the pits along the way. We used to have a network of trails that connected every gravel pit in South Jersey.
  10. More trail work photos from the Hammer Run a few years ago... Tools of the trade...
  11. One of our community service projects we do annually is a tree planting for NJ Fish & Game in wildlife management areas.
  12. Some more photos... Washing, waxing and organizing our supplies trailer after and event so it's ready for next time.
  13. I am a member and I can tell you membership is closed right now. Living in Pa it may not be a good fit for you because there are requirements to be met. When I first asked my riding buds about getting into the club I was told "We need workers NOT riders and let me tell you they were right. It seems like since we are members we work more than we ride. First off you need to be an AMA member. To actually "get in" you need to know someone that will sponsor you into the club and be responsible for you living up to your end of the deal. If the club decides a member is not "active" enough it lands in the sponsors lap to let the person know that they will be tossed out if they don't shape up. New members are place on probation for 90 days during which you are required to make EVERY meeting and a certain amount of work days. Work days are EVERY Sunday for several months leading up to an event and we have three events a year the only time we don't have work days is Summer and it's really too hot to ride and around the Holidays when it is usually too cold to ride. Work days usually consist of being dropped off at a trailhead and walking several miles to the next road trimming brush with machetes and lopers and cutting larger stuff with chain saws. This past Spring while getting ready for our enduro and hare scramble we were often trimming trail in a foot or more of snow. I am more or less in charge of "infrastructure" consisting of the club trailers that we use for events so I do that between trail work days. Back to membership being closed... by charter we limit ourselves to 150-160 members and new members are not accepted unless we loose or expel current members. The reason for capping membership is we carry insurance on our members and it gets expensive once you go above a certain number of members. This insurance is what allows us to ride the properties that were mentioned in the original post as the sand mine owners are named on our policy. Some club photos... Registration work for the Greenbriar... A trail work party stops to discuss route changes with some of the section leaders... Walking the Hare Scramble course where it crosses the pit... Building the awards podium for the Hare Scramble... build it Friday morning and tear it down Sunday afternoon.

Our meetings are not "Open Public Meetings" and even prospective members are not invited/allowed at meetings unless that have been approved. The main complaint of the homeowners is noise both exhaust and "squeeling tires" from the track. The track/racing associations may be shooting themselves in the foot on this issue because unlike the AMA mufflers are NOT required on the cars at the track. We were there to point out that sanctioned AMA racing does in fact require mufflers and since it takes place on dirt there are no squeeling tires.
  15. There is an "Open Public Meeting" of the Porecca Drive Homeowners Association to discuss views AGAINST the track. It is an open meeting and we encourage all concerned riders to attend. Our regular meeting of the Tri-County Sportsmen MC has been moved to this location to show support of the track. Please attend if at all possible. Wear riding jerseys, etc. to show you are a rider! Tuesday August 10th 2010 7PM .... TOMORROW!!! American Legion Hall... Buck & Mulberry Streets, Millville, NJ Get there early so we can all get inside! Sorry for the late notice it seems like the Homeowners Association was trying to keep this a secret to eliminate representation from the riding community.
