  1. I guess it is a east coast ,west coast thing. In New England,we have very limited riding areas. To link a nice trail loop together you have to be plated to use roads to connect everything. I agree with you about your DR,but to ride a DR in the way I ride my plated KTM. I would probably be dead from exhaustion. It is great you take the nice long trips on your DR. I ride my KTM year around also and have not had any problems. I really do not understand your post to be honest, I was not bashing other dual sports.I started on a DR350s and would love to buy another one. I was just explaining to the person that posted that KTMs are expensive, can not get parts and unreliable.I really do not understand the bashing of the brand.I ride with people who own all brands. We do not bash each other we just get together to ride.I guess am just to soft for the people on the internet.
  2. Paid 1500.00 for it in 2006. Dealer half an hour from my house has what I need or can get it the next day. i have put 3000 miles on it. Change the oil every 25 to 30 hours and check the valves twice a year. I ride 100 mile a day dual sport rides on the upper east coast. I think most people who bash KTMs have never owned one. I know this is the non ktm thread, but I had defend my bike. I will post this in the KTM thread also. The quote from metricthump is from the non ktm thread. I posted this over there to defend my bike and stated I would post over here also.

SOS - Newbie out of control on 09 EXC530!

Rob, As a guy that rides in western mass. That is alot of bike for western mass. I would say before you do anything just ride it for the rest of the season. Then decide if you want to do anything. You have to get use to the bike, after taking 10 years off.I ride in the same area and some times my 400exc seems like to much. I do not want to imagine what that 530 is like to ride.
  6. A thermostat is also there to slow the water down, so it can cool more efficiently.
  7. 44 ft lbs for the countershaft The rear axle use your trail wrench like burnrider stated I tightened my to spec then had to found a wrench in the middle of Maine. My wrench that came with the bike turned in to a taco.
  8. If you want it be legal for the street KTM. Just double check can you legally plate a dirt bike in New Brunswick?

    02 400 EXC wiring

If the bike has had a dual sport kit installed, the vr might have been changed if the previous owner floated the ground on the stator. My 2002exc matches the US version in the manuel. You look beyond what is there and take all the extra stuff off,you get to the stock wiring. Also some people unplug the TPS,maybe this guy cut the plug off after he unplugged.
