  1. If they're that bad, it sounds like your forks could be on a bind. Are your pinch bolts too tight? Loosen them all and re-tourque them. You might need to tear them apart.   2. The best nitrile gloves i've found are the black lightning gloves. They're more expensive, but totally worth it. Super tough. Here's some info on them: http://www.atlanticsafetyproducts.com/ProductDetail/?productid=4 A chrome and wire-wheel cleaner will clean up the heavy oxidation on your aluminum case.
  3. The float is probably stuck, or there is some dirt or junk in the little needle valve assembly that the float opens and closes. I would take the carb off and pull the pin that the float pivits on, then blow out the place where the needle travels up and down with some compressed air.
