    08 CRF 250r needle help...

I don't have a manual and need to know what the stock needle is. I have a real bad stutter in my low end and think the previous owner switched out the stock needle. The number is NMGU. A link would help me also, been searching with no luck, thanks
  3. Just wondering how much of a difference there is between a 45 pilot going to a 42 pilot if you were to measure it by the fuel screw. Say the fuel screw is at 1.5 turns with the 45 pilot. Thanks Eddie.

Hard Starting When Hot - Valves are OK

Try and lean out your pilot/ fuel screw a little? If it is to rich they are real hard to restart when hot.

07 shimming valves and timing chain

It has about 35 hours on it and the adjuster is fully automatic. It turns out it is the cam cap bolts are screwed. When I do my first initial torque at 6 NM it is all good but when I do my final at 10 NM the bolts go atleast another third of turn inward. They are over torqued and it squeezed my pre lube out causing it to be hard to crank over. I have three torque wrenches and all seemed to allow this over torque. I ripped apart my other bike to have a look at the valve clearance on it and also reshimmed, however when I torqued the cam cap bolts from 6 NM to 10 NM the bolt only moved like 1/16th of a turn and the bike just rolls over. The only thing I can think of is to order new bolts, I am presuming they have stretched or something and I am also gonna use a plasti gauge to make sure my tolerances are correct.
  6. I have shimmed my valves twice now on my rmz 250 and both times the timing chain tightened up so tight after a couple of kicks it will hardly turn over. If i pull the adjuster out and reset it it seems fine. Anyone know why it does this. Is the spring to strong or am I doing something wrong? After shimming valves I did reset the adjuster and installed it as stated in the manual, i am just worried it is gonna tighten up when riding it and cause severe damage to the head. And I only turned the motor over counterclockwise when adjusting the valves. Thanks...

    spliting cases

You will need a case splitter, the crank bearings are a machined fit which is tight on the crank shaft.

    07 RMZ 250 Megabomb tested

Good info 455, was there any jetting issues or changes when switching head pipes or just bolt on and go.

    Race Gas vs. Pump Gas

It's funny, I have been reading everything I can on race fuel on this site the last few days. There sure is a lot of misconception out there. If you go to VP's site they say yes it will give like 2-3 hp more all the way through and that it is cheaper than buying a pipe. That was there claim on U4.1 I beleive. Then on the other hand guys say it doesn't do a thing, so what is it. Could it be that when you run an oxy fuel that it brings your stock jetting a lot closer to spot on which makes it feel like the race fuel is actually doing something. I would be really interested in having 2 bikes the same and jet them both so they are at there peak and just see. One on race fuel the other on pump. I am real curious to see some dyno #'s from VP on there U4.1 to state there claim. I personally do beleive it will improve some with race fuel but havn't had the chance to try it yet due to drastic temperature changes. I do know you don't want to mix it 50/50 or you are defeating the purpose and that 4 strokes love oxy. The race fuel is also cleaner and more consistent than pump which makes spot on jetting easier to do. Is it worth it, still don't know but going to try it and will let you know.

    Oil change on 07

Any idea as to how much oil comes out of the other drain, I didn't do that one? Guess I should do it all over again.

    Oil change on 07

I changed the oil on my rmz/07 yesterday and pulled the drain plug and filler cap. I let it drain for about 10 minutes. Now i pulled the bolt out where the brake lever is and started to add the oil. My problem is that I only got about 600 ml in the motor and it started to come out of the check hole with the bike straight. Now did I not get all the oil out or should I just go ahead and add the other 350 ml? Would it be ok to run it with just that much oil in it when it comes out of check bolt.

What do you think to your 07?

no issues with valve clearance after 22 hours on 2 bikes and also checked cam caps with no problems, torqued right on. The only small issues i had were the intake boot bolt that holds it to the cylinder was so tight i had to grind it off on both bikes and there is a real miss match of allen key bolts and 8mm bolts through out, now i switched it over to bolts it is easier to work on. Other than that best bike i have owned.

    07 250 jetting

I posted this in the jetting section also by accident so here it is again, Can some one tell me what the American settings are for the RMZ 250. I can't seem to find it in the manual. Canadian is like 170, NLCT 4th clip and a 45 slow jet. I found after riding it outside for the first time in warm weather it is pig rich. I went down to a 165 main and dropped the needle 1 clip, I think in real warm weather i will be at a 162 main. I am just curious as to what every one else is using for sea level.
