  3. Hey guys, Got a curly one for ya's I've got a 02 WR-426 which has just started spluttering "BADLY". I think i've narrowed it down to being a bad ignition coil which tested with a multimeter measured (approx 23 ohms resistance) between the plug cap and orange wire terminal. I borrowed a mates coil which measured (approx 7-8 ohms resistance) then fitted it to my bike and ran it and it seemed to work fine. Then after swapping them out again as a test, my coil was obviously still bad and then the good coil decided to shit itself too. I'm just curious if has had a similiar shitfull experience or may know what could be causing coil failure. ANY INFO GREATLY APPRECIATED..! BASIC RESULTS SO FAR INDICATE: Good coil has approx 7-8 ohms and book states 9-14 ohms, and the 2 coils i now have are 23 ohms resistance and the bike is un-ridable...

  5. Yeah Eddie i did have the slide out and when i first re-installed i had the detachable plate upside down but i've since rectified that with no gains. Secondly no i haven't checked my timing, but thats on top of my list today. Thanks again Eddie.
  6. In addition to the above post, the needle is slightly bent would this normally affect operation..? Also after fitting yet anoth new plug it ran great at idle for a minute until it got HOT!! and then it was like it b4.......
  7. G'day guys, To keep it realtively short, i've got a WR426 '02 that has just started spluttering and backfiring like crazy. Had 42pj 168mj with FMF system & YZ timing absolutely flew until i started playing with the jetting. Put a 45pj in, played with clip grooves 3-4 etc done (BK-MOD) bike still went great. on my last ride after a long stretch on mid throttle when i opened her up it backfired and crackled a bit, it seemed like until i burnt the shit off then it was ok. Removed the carby to check AP squirt & timing and since then its a pig to start, will only run with choke out, still backfires BADLY when revved. I've changed the plug 3 times just so i can start it her, i've got this nigly feeling it could be a spark (coil) problem that has happened to raise its head at a very inconvenient time which has pointed toward the carby but not sure. Last night i removed everything worth removing from the carby and checked it all out then re-installed.....still..
  8. I've changed the timing on my wr426 to YZ (1-tooth), did'nt notice a great deal of difference. What is everyone elses thoughts on this mod and others..? i've set my AP timing to squirt just under the gate, once again no real difference...? BK mod same again....?
  9. Try this mob, Australian Kawasaki dealer of the year just gone. They are my closest kawasaki dealer i'm sure they'd have to be able to point you in the right direction. Kawasaki Newcastle 5 Lang Rd Broadmeadow NSW 2292 ph: (02) 4952 4955 Insurance--Motor Vehicle map
  10. Where abouts in oz..? have you tried to get the info thru your local dealer..?
  11. Thanks Eddie, you are a legend. It must clip in from the side of the link b4 you slip the bowl back on yeah..?
  12. What are everyones thoughts and or experiences on high and low octane fuels for 2002 wr426..? high here in Australia is 98-octane and i think low is 92 or 95. Does altitude play any part..? 150ft above sea level 168mj 42pj 3rd clip standard needle FMF powercore -4 full system yz timing
  13. This is a silly question but here goes...Does the top of the AP rod where the little ball is, clip into the actuator link or does it just rest against it and get pushed by the link lever..?...My bike used to fly but is now spluttering like an ol' boiler after a few shandy's...revs smooth until about just under 1/4 throttle then just cough's farts and i'm waiting for it to shit too... 2002 wr426 42pj 168mj 3rd clip standard needle FMF powercore-4 full system yz timing..? is this a good thing..? Australia 150ft above sea level
  14. Hey guys, great site. I'm a 426 owner from Australia and i'm trying to sort out the problem of my bikes flat spot when i blip the throttle, its dangerous and caused me enough greif already can someone offer any ideas on a fix or fixes..? thanks and keep rippin it up.
