    capacitor size

There is a guy testing Li-ion batteries over on KTMtalk. He sent me one to test on the WR - it is the size, roughly, of 2 decks of cards and weighs just under a pound vs. the Yuasa 7 that is 6.5 pounds. That and a lighter exhaust/header combo and I've lost almost 15 lbs up top. Of course I've probably just put it back by adding an IMS tank and a scott's stabilizer.... oh well.
  2. ...which one for the 04 WR450f that gives the right amount of clearance, etc? Does the carb have to be drilled out to install?

    TPS unplugged ?????

Uh.... I have no idea how to use a multi-meter or back probe a circuit. I have a manual... I'll go read it and try to figure it out. I know that mine is unplugged and taped off.

    TPS unplugged ?????

What is the process for checking it and then adjusting it? How do you know to what degree it is out of adjustment?

    Where to find frame guards?

Thanks - e-line has a cool skid plate and pipe guard but no frame guards. The acerbis is what I'm looking for but they're no longer available. Anyone else?

    Where to find frame guards?

04 WR450f I'm not interested in the metal Works Connection guards - I'm looking for either a carbon fiber, or even better a hard plastic frame guard that zipties on similar to a KTM frame guard. Couldn't find what I needed with the search function... thanks - mike

    450 on ice

I can make a set for ~$750. You supply the box of bolts, the tires and the 12 pack. I'll supply allll of the knowledge, drill and razor knife.

    Oil Strainer Removal?

    It is a 19mm wrench.
  11. Wow... overwhelming response. I'm going to go with a 158 MJ from a 165 - hopefully that will suffice. thanks -
  12. Eddie, et al, I'm heading out to Vail next week over Columbus Day to ride and am curious what kind of jetting changes I need to make. I just bought the bike and haven't had a chance to get into the carb to see what main is in there now, but the previous owner mentioned that he had upped it one - I *think* to a 168 for riding here at +/- 1,000 ft. Any ideas what I need to drop this down to for elevation at Vail? thanks, Mike

    So long my old friend...

I recently sold my trusty 2001 DRZ 400e, which did me right for a long time and was a great, reliable bike. I used it for lots of dual-sport riding, woods riding and general street mayhem. As great as it was, I needed {wanted} more power and less weight. To accomplish this, I had my mind set on a KTM 525 but there was too much sticker shock. Instead, I found lightly used 04 WR450 that was plated and minimally legal for a more than fair price. The previous owner seems to have taken good care of the bike and has performed all of the free mods. Some pics... I haven't been able to get in the woods yet, but so far around the neighborhood I'm sure that the neighbors are tired of my marvel at how easily this bike puts the front wheel skyward... Ride report coming soon... Hollywood

    Upper Shock Mount

cool. that's all it does - but it twists just enough to make me think there should've been a thrust washer in there somewhere.... back to the shop.
