  2. The U.S. Congress will be holding field hearings and listening sessions in various cities around the country. The AMA and ATVA encourage riders interested in learning about the development of national transportation policy, including off-highway programs such as the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), to attend one near you. A meeting is scheduled to be held Saturday, February 19th, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., in Indianapolis, IN. The location address is: Indianapolis City County Building, Room T-260 200 East Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46204 The event will be in the fashion of a listening session, presided over by a member of Congress, with the public being invited to provide information and perspectives on federal transportation issues as it relates to their communities. If you have an interest in learning about the transportation issues being discussed in your area and applying them to your perspective as a motorcyclist, this is a unique opportunity. If you would like to participate in the public input portion, please contact the AMA for talking points on motorcyclist specific issues by sending an e-mail to grassroots@ama-cycle.org, subject line “Listening Session.” The AMA encourages all riders to be as informed as possible when it comes to your rights and the policies affecting motorcycling and the motorcycling lifestyle.

  6. We want you to join us on October 9th & 10th, 2010. ABATE DIRT will be holding an Adventure ride and will be using LCRP as its base of operations – Kick-stands up at 10am. Wait, there is a twist, all OHV’s are welcome! You must either have a licensed street legal vehicle or the vehicle is registered with the Indiana DNR and you posses the state decal. The Indiana DRN state decal cost $30.00/3yrs and the funds go back to the state OHV parks. We’ve worked long and hard to route this ride so that any and all OHVs with an Indiana DNR state decal or licensed street legal vehicle can join us on county roads… Yes, that also means quads and side-bysides! We are doing our best to have a gas stop as often as possible, so get gas when you can. Lunch stops will be set, yet you’re on your own for your lunch. Please be aware that you will be riding on county roads that pass through farm country and farm homes. Reduce speeds when passing homes to keep the dust down. That’s right; this ride is open, truly open to all… Due to the potential for large amounts of dust (gravel roads) we will most likely have several groups leaving the property at different times, to keep the dust down. Camping will be allowed at LCRP (Lawrence County Recreational Park) as we will be using LCRP as our starting and destination points each day. So, come early and socialize. FREE camping & NO gate fee will be applied. . All county and state speed limits and laws of the road also apply. Visit and read the Indiana DNR’s website (http://www.in.govdnr/4278.htm) regarding the state’s OHV registration process for more information regarding registering your OHV. The application for the Indiana DRN decal should only take a few minutes to fill out and to process. We will not allow you to leave the property without either an Indiana DNR state decal or licensed street legal vehicle. If you are stopped and do not have proper plating or documentation it is on you. You have been warned. Let’s make this one heck of an adventure!!!! NO GATE FEE/FREE CAMPING
  7. ABATE Welcomes a New Addition to the Family! We have some interesting news here at ABATE. We got D.I.R.T.!!! What’s that? D.I.R.T. is the acronym for Discover Indiana Riding Trails. D.I.R.T. was founded 15 years ago by some passionate off road riders. We would list some of the founder’s names here, but we're afraid we would leave someone off and you probably wouldn’t know them anyhow. Just know the people who started D.I.R.T. really had to get their shoulder behind it and pushed for a very long time to see results. D.I.R.T.s original plan was to get some off road riding for off road vehicles, OHV, in Indiana. See in the 1970’s the state, in a broad stroke, shut down all OHV’s from state owned land and in that same time period, the Hoosier National Forest was also closed to us. Yes, we organized and fought back then, but we lost and off road riding has been tough in Indiana ever since. We may have been down, but not out. Off road riding and racing has flourished since the beginning of time. Indiana has produced many champions in all types of off road racing and hundreds of families spend their weekends racing and riding around our state. They just do it on private property. So, D.I.R.T. was founded and picked up the fight for access to state land again. Over time they have had many and great successes. Many miles of secondary and abandoned roads have been opened for OHV travel. Also over 5,000 acres of state land have been opened for OHVs! Two large riding areas have been opened, Red Bird near Linton, Indiana and Interlake near Evansville Indiana. All this was possible through the hard work of the people behind D.I.R.T. Now here is the news… D.I.R.T. and ABATE have joined together. We are all bikers and we are all fighting for our rights. ABATE gains over 500 D.I.R.T. members and D.I.R.T. gains about 30,000 ABATE members. ABATE has been soliciting off road riders to join for several years now. ABATE knows we need to keep growing membership to keep our voices heard, strength in numbers. Now don’t worry, ABATE is not going all off road and D.I.R.T. will not be lost. The same people, who are running both organizations will still be at the wheel, ABATE fighting for your rights on the street and D.I.R.T. fighting for your rights in the dirt. Everyone we have spoken to feel this is a good merger, of course there will be growing pains and problems, but knowing the people involved, all this can be overcome because we are ultimately fighting for a common goal, freedom. For most of you, the only real change will be on your ABATE renewal form, there will be a box to check if you own an OHV. Many of you already are OHV fans, we know many people who have street bikes and ATVs in the garage. We also know that more of you would add an OHV to your toys if you had more places to ride. This merger is a step in that direction. As always we want to hear your feelings and ideas, good or bad, please let us know what you think. Contact Gary Williams (gary@abateonline.org), Roy Garret (roy@abateonline.org) or call 800-23-ABATE with your thoughts. So, now all of Indiana is covered by ABATE, not just the roads any more, now we have the dirt too.

  14. Looking for insight. Did the calculation from above and come up with the following Age = 41 Weight in KG = 109.0909 Weight in lbs = 240 height in cm = 185.42 BMR =2202.045 Estimated Daily Energy Expenditure = 3743.477 Now I used the factor of 1.7 (Reasoning below): I work out an hour a day first thing in the morning: I guess I need to check my calorie intake --- I'm not loosing weight.
