This is a great tire. Especially for those looking to settle down the front end or broaden the footprint of the tire. I have ran two of these tires back-to-back. The first one was on for 2 races and 2 trail rides.

The traction is great, the compound is soft enough to increase your traction a bit but hard enough to not wear out in one ride. It is certainly not a gummy tire, in traction or wear. I notice the larger carcass when getting up to speed and you can start to feel the weight up front, I think.

First tire was raced at Thunder Valley and then a desert race. Thunder Valley was one of my cleanest races and the tire did great. The conditions were a lot of mud and the last hour was all rain. Still a blast and tire help up nicely. I raced one more race in the desert and liked its performance there. The wider body let me stay on top of the sand a bit better than a standard tire.

Then a few trail rides. I should have replaced it after the desert race. The tire holds up well and is not easy to chunk apart, but the performance just seems to fall off a cliff. Most other tires their performance wears down with the tread gradually. This shinko seems to go from good to "slid-out" sharply. That is my only complaint. Every other metric is awesome so i give it a full 4 stars.

Great tire for the new racer or trail rider, no doubt about it. And at $60 it is not terrible to keep a fresh one around.

Pros: cheap, easy to find, great profile for rocks or sand

Cons: sharp performance loss when worn, weight
