It's a new 2016 EXC and I've barely ridden it. What I can say is that right out of the box the emission crap, flame outs, gearing, and seat are in desperate need of attention. On the street the front end is scary over 50mph. The hand guards are a joke for trail riding. My initial impression is that KTM (just like BMW) gives you a great basic bike but (for various reasons) leaves it's up to the owner to make it awesome.

Great gas mileage, a ton of fun offroad and on the street. You feel sexy riding it. What more do you want?

Have owned this bike almost 5 months, since then I hardly ride my other bike. To be fully appreciated you need to ride it on both dirt and slab.

On dirt it's a scary beast, And if you can max this out on a dirt track then you're mental. Personally, I have way more fun on slab with this thing.

Riding it on slab with an A/T tire on the back and it's the most fun on two wheels, it really is stupidly fun! The bike is so incredibly agile and forgiving that nothing will overtake you on twisty's, save for another 500exc with a Sumo kit lol.

This bike is the wheelie king- with just an aftermarket pipe this beast will power-wheelie even in 5th gear And you'll find yourself on one wheel most of the time. Though it's not all sunshine and rainbows, the bike does have flaws, most of which are attributed to the nature and class of bike than the bike respectively.

On dirt, it's pretty easy to stall (especially with stock gearing).

The seat is like wedging a brick between your buttcheeks, very hard and too narrow.

If your boot size is bigger than a smurf's then you'll need a different shift lever for wearing MX boots.

Servicing intervals suck hard, it's one of the most high-strung and volatile bikes ever made.

Generally expensive to own and maintain.

It's Orange.

Would I recommend this bike ? ... Hell yes, but only to crazy people.

GREAT SO FAR. I HAVE AN 2003 450 EXC ALSO. Sold the 450 to my neighbor. I've had my 500 a little over a year now. 6000 miles all off road in the National Forest (550,000 acres), one new valve shim, oil change every 10 hours in summer (Florida heat) 15 hours in winter. Checked valves 5/12/2016 at 8,000 miles no adjustment needed. This 500 is amazing!!
