2018 DR-Z 400 SM

After streeting an 04 CRF450R for a few years,  this bike was "sleepy"- when new. Not quite the beast my CRF was, but just as fun and way more reliable. It came to life after the standard mods...

JD jetting w/ Extended fuel screw

3x3 Air box mod

Full exhaust - Delkevic

-1 from stock... (14t) countershaft sprocket

No clutch wheelies at 45+ in 4th gear are just a tug away now. Stock set-up was impossible and boring.  All is well now.

Getting there, not a rocket stock, not a rocket modded either but a lot of fun to ride.

Barely even broken this bike in yet and I am completely hooked. Pure joy every time I start it up, constantly looking for excuses to go riding on it. For my size (5'10" 180lbs) it is a great fit, easily touch the ground with both feet flat and can manhandle it how ever I want on the road. Sure the DRZ isn't the fastest SM or the most capable but its a great bike, there's a reason why they have not changed much in 20 years.

Well, what can I say? It feels a bit dated and it's power doesn't blow me away but it's the most fun I've had on a bike and it looks badass. Can't wait to do some modifications!

Great starter bike unless you update and upgrade. Jets, pipe, and intake work transform from a kitty to a lion. Very robust and alot of aftermarket parts. Personally love the 2017 color scheme.
