2017 XT250

This is certainly not my first bike. I have owned and ridden probably 20 different bikes.  Most came and went over the years,  including everything from Yamaha 80 circa mid/late sixties to a 1941 ULH 80" Flathead Harley.   I'm on the older side, over 6' .  Anyway, my son who owns a Honda CRF450 suggested I look at the XT250 to tinker with and have local fun .  So I recently went down and sat on a 2017 250XT at a local dealership.  I found it light weight, with ample engine clearance, with a  simple, basic air cooled engine AND with a significant lower seat height than most in the dual sport bracket.  And I know after some research the 4-stroke engine is a tried and true reliable motor. Reliable, simple and dependable are  big with me.

So I started looking on Craigslist and found one that looked interesting with less than 25 miles on the odometer and was described as basically brand new at a very fair price... I bought it.

I am very impressed with this 250. Seems well made, very quite, no kick, electric start and fuel injected. The response of the throttle definitely got my attention. And I noted things like oil changes are real easy. I have not yet ridden this beautiful machine much at this point, but enough I can say it's way fun to ride and plenty of power for me as my going flat-out days and taking youngster risks are in the past, so this bike rates a 5+ in my book.☺ Can't wait to go on some back roads and trails. This only thing I plan on doing is getting a rack and a skid plate. Oh, and I'm thinking about going LED on the lights, but I am still reading the reviews on the LED lighting. The bike puts a smile on my face, looks great and for what I want now, it's perfecto!

Great first dualsport, low seat height boosts confidence. Soft suspension gets overwhelmed quickly once the speed picks up over rough trails. Enough power to maintain 120 km/h on the road and cruise at 100. A great bike for what it is. An affordable, reliable, low maintenance trail bike that is also surprisingly competent on the road.

Fantastic little dual-sport. Low Key all around. Suspension needed upgrading but other than that it is a solid performer and does whats its made to do very well.
