  1. I can’t remember how it started but whenever I shifted into 5th I’d feel and hear a loud grinding noise. Ignored it and never used 5th because the problem sounded expensive. Then one day while riding my motor locked up on me, luckily I managed to channel my inner JS7 and control the immediate stop. As I’m immediately investigating, thinking I heat seized the motor, I also couldn’t change any gears. I later had a buddy help me strip the engine, top half was in mint condition and the crank was still perfectly fine. One shift fork broke, denting and scratching the shift drum, another shift fork bent and the 5 gear wheel and pinnacle had been slightly worn down. I had a mechanic replace the 5 gear wheel, 5th gear pinnacle, shift drum, all 3 shift forks and I replaced the shift shaft. The bike now shifts into 5th but still acts as if it’s in neutral. Even though there is no ware on my clutch basket after 4 years of riding and never changing a plate not once, I’ve researched and found that changing the clutch plates might work. Putting this out there in case anyone has experienced this and can help pinpoint what the problem may actually be before I replace the entire transmission. Thanks for any suggestions or advice in advance! 🤙🏼 PS.. This is my first mx bike ever and I am not a mechanic, learning how to become one after all this though.
  2. Hey, anyone experience this... My bike is a 2018 KTM 300xcw, I've come to a problem and haven't found anyone else posting about. I bought a replacement water pump impeller (Slavens Racing) for this bike and operated with no issues. I've got about 40hrs on the the bike now. Last ride the bike was overheating. Trouble shooting lead me to remove the water pump cover and discovered the impeller just resting, detached from the pump shaft. Completely sheered off! No other damage noted. I'm waiting for replacement shaft ($$!!, it's one piece with pump drive gear$$!!). Looking for suggestions, tips on the disassembly / reassembly of the water pump shaft, bearing, and seal. Also have bearing, seal, bolt, washer, gaskets on the way.

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone can help clear this up. vertex high compression pistons for FE450/450 EXC engines have gone up over $100 in price but they are also a lower ration @ 12.8:1 vs the high compression vertex FC450/450SXF pistons @ 13.6:1 compression ratio. besides the bigger valve depressions is there an issue running one of these? I've already got an FC450 Camshaft and I'm considering putting an MX head on the bike in the future so if it will work I'd rather get the MX higher compression ration piston for this bike to help get some more bottom end and power out of the bike. I've got an Athena GET Ecu on the bike so I can modify the map if needed. I'll save $100 and taxes if it will fit aswell as the other benefits. Hoping someone can help confirm if they will fit without any issues, Thanks for your time, TheWhiteDillard

Hey all- Using the search, I didnt have any luck finding anything about replacing my OE water pump with a Boyesen Super-Cooler Do I need to remove the side cover to do it (shaft/bearings/etc), or can I just replace the impeller... Off Season is coming and if I need to replace all of the other pieces, then I'll do it during the down time The service manual does not address the replacement of the impeller alone thanks, everyone for your time RIDE HARD!
  5. Hi everyone! I have a 2018 YZ450F, and I found an empty 12v circuit on the left side of the steering head. I’m trying to add a charge port for my Quad-Lock for days spent on the trails, and was hoping to use that as its only on when the bike is on, and it can’t drain the battery. Anyone know the amp output? Is this ok to use this, or is there any other places to get switched power on the bike?
  6. Hi, everyone! I finally decided to do the emissions delete and put a Vortex ECU and FMF 4.1 on my 2018 Husqvarna FE350S. I live in CO at 7,500 ft. and some of the areas I ride are as high as 13,000 ft. I ride singletrack and enjoy the technical, rocky stuff. The trails here are almost always muddy and slippery. I understand the 4.1 silencer makes the bike run lean. What map and settings would you all recommend? Thanks for any input!! Tiffany @VagabondDelight <-same handle on IG
  7. I just bought a 2018 husqvarna fc250 and need to know on the compression knob on top and the rebound screw on bottom which way do I turn the dials to soften the suspension some?? Please Help tonight if possible!! I don't have time too mess with the air chamber just the Compression and rebound tonight! There just a little to stuff for woods riding! PLEASE HELP!!
  8. (backstory) Hello!! Yesterday I purchased a 2018 yz250f off marketplace. I normally don’t buy bikes not running but with what’s going on and the deal I got I’m optimistic it won’t be too bad (we’ll see). The guy claimed he was not mechanically inclined whatsoever and didn’t have time to wait for a shop ( 3-4 weeks) to fix his bike before the next race so he sold in order to get something running . He gets it rebuilt every winter by a reputable builder and the current build has 8.4 hours on the meter. (Problem) He was able to race the bike in the first and second race of the day. Come the third race he started the bike and it bogged off the line not wanting to run etc. I’ve attached screenshots of his conversation to his mechanic and his explanation of what happen etc. Basically he can’t kick start it but tried pulling it behind a vehicle and it will sort of run but will just bog if he tries to let out the clutch or even give it gas. ( sounds to me like fueling issues ) (possible solutions) So I’m not too familiar with newer fi bikes etc but based off my initial research I’d like to look into the following : - new fuel pump filter - possibly clean or replace the injector although the tool to to clean is like $170 - map sensor?? - fuel pressure sensor / regulator? I’ve read online that these are the typical fixes / reasons for these bikes bogging but I couldn’t find much reference to these parts as far as the sensors go. I saw one guy on the forums fixed it with a “fuel pressure sensor” but I couldn’t find the part online. this guys mechanic I bought the bike from says he feels it is a “map sensor” and i also couldn’t find reference to that either. If it’s not the fuel pump itself I feel like it’s just some sort of sensor out of wack but I’m not sure what sensors to replace / check because these newer bikes have so many. Let me know what you think I should do or any ways I can diagnose. Thank you in advance!
  9. I’m looking to buy a full exhaust system for my 2018 rmz 250. I’ve been looking mostly at the yoshimura rs-4 but am unsure if they make a model that will fit my bike (2018 susuki rmz 250). Has anyone done this? Any better pipes for performance across the board? Thanks in advance!
  10. I am looking to do a mx-tech lucky carbon spring conversion on my 2018 susuki rmz250 that is equipped with KYB PSF2 air forks. I’ve been told that I may have trouble removing the fork lugs to install the new lug adapter at the bottom of the fork (damaging threads). Any tips to do this job correctly? Thanks in advance!

  12. PLEASE HELP!!! For my 2020 Crf250l I have installed the FMF power bomb header and Q4 exhaust, and I still have stock gearing Now I understand that the bikes changed at 2017, along with the EJK model. 2017-2020 stock EJK settings are: 3/4.5/4.5/5/4.5/4.5 NOW- Soooo what are BETTER EJK settings. I hear over and over, that EJK stock settings are Way too rich, I don’t live near a Dyno tuner. PLEASE help someone !!!! theres someone with a 2017 -2020 Crf250l model that has figured this out, I can’t get a direct answer , nobody follows up with there posts!!!!!!!!!! I’m newbie at posting but I have read many threads on EJK, ( that’s how I found out about the two different EJK stock settings from 2017+ models! Thankyou for that thumpers and for helping with that and many other information . But::::: I just haven’t found the thread on my main question Crf250l 2017-2020 EJK settings!!!??????????   13. I am shopping for a fmf q4 slip on for my 2019 crf250l. The only ones in stock are for a crf250l rally. After doing some research the oem exhaust for a crf250l and crf250l rally are the same part number. But the fmf site has different part numbers for each bike. Does anyone know if they are the same pipe? Because I accidentally orders a q4 for a rally and I just have a normal L.
  14. The motor on my 2018 kx250f locked up in the middle of my race the other day, the drain plug managed to fall out during my second GP and I heard a loud screech noise then very shortly after the bike completely shut off and locked up. Not sure what to do for my next step. Any recommendations?
  15. Hi guys I have just purchased a 2018 Wr450f second hand and everything on the bike is in good nick it has only 2,300km on it. But only issue I have with it is I have problems starting it up when it’s cold with the electric start. How can I fix this? Because it just keeps ticking over and doesn’t fire up until it’s warm. When it’s warm it starts up fine
  16. I have a 2018 ktm 350 XC-f with just over 100 hours on it. I took my bike out a week ago after sitting for about 2 months after the end of the ice riding season. I rode single track only and put about 3.5 hours on with no issues at all. loaded up and went home, when I got home my bike wouldn't start. It would turn over just fine, but the cluster next to the kill switch was not lighting up and neither was the fuel pump, it has good spark and the plug was dry, I'd assume no fuel. I checked literally every connection on the bike and all the fuses. Nothing made a difference or seemed wrong. Couldn't find any other articles about this problem anywhere...
  17. Good day I have been having a problem with my spark plugs. Every 0.5-1 hour of riding the bike will begin to miss fire due to the spark plug insulator being cracked just below the electrode. (exactly the same everytime) The plug has some oil on it as, expected, but nothing close to causing oil fouling. 2018 ktm 250 xcw (carb) nothing has changed with the bike, the problem suddenly started at random. I have been through roughly 8 plugs (ngk br7es) and it continues, bike runs perfectly with a new plug until the it breaks once again. All jetting seems good and as I said this problem started suddenly and randomly as the bike had been running without a single problem since I have had it. a new piston and rings were installed at 60 hours and the problem still continues exactly the same. Thanks in advanced 50:1 oil ratio (moterx) as I have always 55 hours on 1 plug and then 8 within less than 10 hours??? this isnt my spark plug but the damage to the white insulator is similar
  18. Hey everyone, I have a stock 2018 crf250l and Im ready to dump money into it. I’m thinking of FMF exhaust with mega bomb headers, seat concept seat, warp9 wheel and tire setup, and a EJK. Just wondering what the best sprocket setup would be? I just want the most out of the bike I can get for fun street, wheelie stuff. Also, do I need to stiffen the rear shock?

  21. I bought my bike brand new a 2018 ktm 250xcw. I love this bike but here lately I've been having some issues with it. I was at a hare scramble and my bike over heated and boiled over blew coolant out the house on top the head I didnt think anything of it cuz it was a mud race everyone was over heating.. fast forward some time and I've noticed it's been overheating more often. Seems to happen when I'm stuck behind a slower rider or on some real tight technical trail also has happen when climbing hill climbs. The last time it overheated we were in Georgia riding highland park. All my buddy's hit the same trail and same hill climb but my bike was the only one 2 boil over and this time it blew out of the radiator cap. When I got home I changed the oil noticed it was a little milky so figured the water pump seal was bad went ahead and replaced it with a hot rods rebuild kit and a aftermarket impeller for better circulation. I run engine ice and I check my levels pretty regularly.. debating if I wanna get a fan kit for it but I dont wanna mask a problem I'd rather find the issue.. I find it odd that none of my buddies are overheating like me. Also I have 120 hrs on it now and I did a top in at 80hrs the cylinder and piston had normal wear. Any ideas would help me out greatly I'm not super mechanically inclined so I'm scratching my head here lol

Yes, I am asking what to buy, I’m sure there are a million other threads with a very similar question, but before bashing me for posting, please understand that although I am talking about the whole topic, I want to focus a large portion of this post on the expense of the two bikes, mostly the repair expense. Now that we’ve got that cleared up, I’m an intermediate rider, bought a brand new 2018 250XC last year and love the bike. I race hare scrambles, but lately I’ve been riding MX a lot and thinking about trying a new 4 stroke and getting something that will handle the track a bit better (suspension-wise). I’ve been told the 350’s are about as expensive as they get to repair when it comes to the engine, but I don’t truly know what the case is. Does anyone have some round-about numbers, any comparisons to the expense of the 450? Yes, I know the 450 costs a few hundred more up front, I don’t care about that, just looking at maintenance. Also, I’m worried that being used to the 250 2 stroke (and I ride with the red spring in, I like an aggressive feel) I will have a hard time getting used to a 350F, kind of like getting on a 250F where I feel like I’m pounding on the throttle to keep it moving. Is this anything to be worried about? In every other way I lean towards 350, being a 2 stroke guy, liking the lighter-weight, more nimble-feeling bikes.
  23. I am wanting to put fat bars on my 18 drz but the stock triple clamp has the bar clamps machined onto the unit. I'm not sure if this is year model specific but from what I can gather it seems the older models are different than mine. Any help is much appreciated
