2013 690 Enduro R Couple of vids, Am i just nuts or is this noisy? Details: New engine rebuild. 50 miles on new motor, changed oil (break in). Now has Amsoil 10w50, started up cold sounds awesome smooth quiet etc. Warms up, has a noise? Just looking for thoughts, Maybe new engine wear in? Tensioner/cam chain? Valves? Dirt Trix spring loaded installed, so Oil Pressure shouldn't affect, tension. Cold: Warm:

I used an infrared temp gauge to check the surface temp of my stock can before swapping it out with a Wings. A 14.5mi. route with 3000ft of elevation gain that peaked at the top of a 1mi. stretch of dirt road averaging 14.5% grade was used for each measurement. The stock can measured 210-220-degrees at the back weld, and the Wings measured 110-120-degrees at the same spot. Oddly, the carbon tip on the Wings was ~175-degrees. I thought for sure it'd be cooler, if anything. Oh, and for kicks I measured the temps of the stock heat guard and the Wings carbon guard. Stock was 95-degrees, and the carbon one was 130-degrees. Lots of opinions and vague statements out there about how hot the stock pipe is, and how much cooler aftermarket pipes are, but I hadn't run across any kind of tangible info, so this was my effort to provide something.

Looking for opinions on this rack. I like the grab handles and how it floats over the rear fender vs. using rubber bumpers. I don't intend upon using a big tail box, just some soft bags and a rotopax.

Kills the looks and likely some level of handling, but if you need the range, looks like a good option. Product link.

I am running out of luck trying to find handguards that fit my 2017 with stock Neken bars. I tried the KTM Evolution handguards but wasn't happy at all with the fit and they hit the ends of the levers: http://www.ktm-parts.com/U6910015KIT.html I tried to get these but they're on backorder for at least a few weeks: http://www.ktm-parts.com/7650297900028.html It looks like these might work, it says Renthal but they're also 1-1/8" like Neken: http://www.ktm-parts.com/U6951375-2.html What handguards work for you? I would love to know! Thanks

I'll start with an ABC, 123 mod for keeping your registration & insurance paperwork under the seat securely... Heavy duty, wet or dirty Velcro. Clean seat pan and KTM documents pouch with some rubbing alcohol to get good schticktion. Voila! This Velcro is tough (strong) and I really don't even have to separate the bag from the seat to get to my documents... not that I get pulled over a lot. ?

Some KTM 690 Enduro R and Husqvarna 701 Enduro motorcycles come from the factory with their steering stops waaaaaay too far out. You'll know how your's are set when you go to turn around and it takes enough room to turn around an 18 wheeler. Mine were horrible, buy my friend's 701 were set as they should be. Turn them as far in as possible, leaving just a bit of clearance between the fork tubes and the frame & wiring loom on the right side of the head tube. This free mod can make a HUGE difference in how your bike turns in tight conditions.

Need some electrical advice on my 2015 Enduro R. The instrument panel started acting weird on a ride resulting in the backlights come on, but no LCD info or needle movement on the display. Effects were temporary like a typical broken wire while riding, but now permanent. Bike rides fine. I have checked fuses, connectors and disassembled the front to confirm the multiplug is fine. Does anyone have a recommendation or even better, a wiring schematic I can use to start testing individual wires? I can't find anything online with regards to a wiring diagram. Thanks

so my 2016 has some light leaking off the rear shock at 9000km. Only one tiny stain on the cardboard I park it on – I wouldn't have even noticed but the shop flagged it when they were installing a new rear brake switch. I'm assuming it's likely a seal – any ideas how much labour + parts cost we're looking at here to get this fixed? I'm not mechanical at all so I like to post topics like this before walking to the shop with an open wallet. From what I read we're looking at good few hours as they need to dismantle most of the rear-end to remove the shock. I'll likely bring the bike to my independent guys rather than the stealer as ktm warranty doesn't cover 'wear' items. Although, it seems a little early in the bike's life to have a blown rear shock seal – especially seeing as 90% of my riding is street and my off-road chops are slightly above moderate with very minor jumping on rare occasion. I guess a seal can really go at any time though. Do they need to dismantle the entire shock as well? I hope I'm not looking at a $500 bill here. Front fork seals on my old crf 250L cost 30 bucks and 1/2 labour – $70.

Does anyone know if the oil that KTM puts in at the factory on a 2017 690 Enduro R is dino or synthetic oil? I want to break my motor in with dino, so I'm assuming that I'll need to drop the factory installed oil. But, figured that I'd see if anyone knows for sure. Going to be using this for break in:

What are my exhaust choices for 2017 690 enduro? I guess FMF stopped making mufflers for this bike. So is my only real option a Wings?
