  1. What transmission fluid should I use for my 2004 yamaha raptor 350?
  2. I am completely stumped. I am working on an 07 Raptor 350. It has a intermittent spark. However, the spark only shows up occasionally when releasing the start button. It never sparks when cranking. Only occasionally when releasing the start button after attempting to start. I have replaced the stator, swapped CDI's, swapped batteries, swapped ignition coils, checked ground continuity for the CDI and the battery, cleaned the ground for the ignition coil, cleaned all connectors, checked continuity between all wires in the ignition circuit and checked power to the CDI. I have become completely stumped. I have no idea where to go from now. I have found several threads started on google for this same issue but no one ever has a solution. Please help!!!
  3. I traded my zero turn that needed some work for a Warrior that needs rebuilt. I traded with my friend and luckily he has all the parts for the rebuild except the crank and gaskets. I'm thinking about building it up and trading it for a nice 250F or 450F but I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with the Warrior and end up with it and a bike. I'm probably going to mod it a pretty good bit and may black it out. Right now it is white with a red tank cover and all the plastics are in great shape so I'll keep them as a spare if I get black plastics. Anyone know where I can find a blue hood with maybe a scoop? I plan to black it out with blue accents and I think that'll look pretty nice. Are they any good for racing or are there any classes they can even race in? I want to see how I'd do in a race.

  7. Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself and some of the products we will be offering the community. I would also like to welcome any engineers, or technically inclined individuals to ask any questions so we can leave up a good technical resource for people that may want to know more. The plan is to day by day adding images and technical information on the product and leave some time for any inquisitive people to ask any questions so that they can better understand the inner workings and performance advantages of the product. For anybody that is interested post any and all questions. So you are aware of my background I am an EE that worked for suppliers to GM, Ford, etc and have also been an EE instructor as well. Also, I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a stupid question, especially if you are interested in the topic, so if you are interested please ask. To start I would like to introduce our TaKaI M-RAIKOU SUPER COILS (raikou stands for Thunder god in japanese incase anyone is interested). The M-RAIKOU is an improved version of our already high output lineup of WeaponX EFX and EFX2 super coils but are specifically made for bikes. The first feature I will introduce is it's capability to convert many bikes to direct COP technology. (COP = coil on plug) As some may have noticed, various bikes come with direct coil on plug technology while others do not. We should all note that 99% of all automobiles these days use COP technology in order to improve performance and efficiency of the engine. Many MX bikes have followed suit, but other manufacturers change year to year primarily due to cost reasons. Why the conversion to COP is superior? Let me know if anyone wants numbers but in basic form this is the explanation. The more interconnects / connection points between the coil and the spark plug the higher the potential losses. Every connection point has something called resistance and the potential to oxidise. Firstly, oxidation reduces the connections capability to conduct. Think about when a battery won't start a car. Its still connected fine but the oxidation prevents energy from flowing. In an ignition system this means poor spark performance and poor running characteristics. Also, any length of wire and in all connection points there is a set amount of resistance. Resistance is just as its name implies, it resists the flow of electricity causing electrical losses leading to a poor performing ignition system. It should also be noted that the higher the voltage the higher the losses so more connections on the high voltage side of the ignition coils are prone to greater losses then the low voltage side of the ignition coil. Just how does our system work? See the image below, for example. The newest RM450F uses a remote mount ignition coil with a connection to the ignition wire and another connection to the spark plug. TaKaI's M-RAIKOU super coil mounts directly to the spark plug removing a high voltage connection which improves electrical conductivity and performance of the ignition coil. The M-RAIKOU is a super high performance ignition coil which is designed to reduce high voltage losses. If there are any questions so far let me know. I will start getting into the differences of our coil vs similar Denso, etc, coils and what we do with 2 stroke applications that cannot be directly mounted. Below is a picture of the conversion of a RM450F when prototyping.
  8. I'm in the market for a used wheeler for my step daughter who will be 18 in six months. She has some limited riding experience on a Honda utility but I'd like to get her something lighter and more agile. I'm thinking a Honda 300EX or Raptor 350, but maybe the 250 class would have enough power also? Any suggestions out there for an ~100 lb 5'4" girl who will be riding hilly/rocky/muddy trails? Local dealer has an '06 Raptor 350 for $2400 that is in good shape. A decent deal?
  9. Great E-Course for ROV/UTV Education http://thegeneralsrecreationden.blogspot.com/2010/09/rov-online-course-get-educated-about.html
  10. When I moved into my house, I moved into property with access to hundreds of acres. The land is part owned by the county, part by my neighbor, and part is power line ROW. The old owner had bikes and had cut single track in the woods. Fast forward 9 years. I have a bike now and I'm reopening the single track with a friend. We are trying to be smart about it by keeping the entry's and exits concealed, and keeping it tight between trees when we can. Even so, I just rode a loop and found our best and longest climb torn up by quads. They can get there from the power lines. They found the bottom, climbed the snot out of it over and over apparently... But never went further. Luckily that is all they found... So anyone have suggestions for something we can do to close it off to the quads? Thinking about putting up some signs, but I'm trying to figure out something easy to do that physically stops a quad but not a bike. For all you single track builders... Hide them well ... Hide them well.
  11. I am interested in KTM's around the 450 range but am not sure as to how much they are going for. I came across this one the other day that seems fairly nice but I am unsure of the price point on these. Any suggestions or help on KTM 450 and up, as well as this dirt bike would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. http://bozeman.craigslist.org/mcy/4503373769.html
  12. I have a baja 250 that has some sort of carb problem. When the bike is cold it does fine, but when it warms up It spotters and sputters pretty bad. I have bought a new carb and it didn't help. Pulled of the air box lid, and left it one, but neither helped or hurt. I have adjusted the valves with no help either. I believe the bike was made in new Mexico so could the bike be jetted for that altitude. I am located in NC about 1000ft above sea level. I'm not sure but it might be a vacuum carb, would the sputter be caused by a lack of engine vacuum? PS. SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST, BUT I CHANGED THE MAKE HOPING TO GET MORE HITS THROUGH THE SEARCH FUNCTION.
