  1. Hello fellas, I got a 96 cr125 basket case that I have invested a small fortune into and the engine needed a full rebuild and both cases changed. I got the bike running (only with choke on) and I am trying to get it to idle; while its spitting tons of premix out of the exhaust. The engine died like many other times but this time its locked up and the kick starter lever wont move. One might say "Your bearings locked up" or "You did not adjust the valves correctly" which I assure you I have done the exhaust valving correctly. Here is the kicker that is throwing me for a loop, you can spin the engine backwards and it is smooth as silk but spin it forward (the correct rotating direction) and it starts to get tight again and acts seized. So can any of you point me into the right direction what I have done wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi. I am new to dirt bike riding and recently bought a 1999 Honda cr125r. When trying to start moving with the bike in first gear I have to let the clutch out extremely slow and give it a large amount of throttle just to prevent it from killing. If I try to let the clutch out quickly it seems I have to give it so much throttle that I just end up doing a burn out. I don't have a direct comparison to try but I have driven ATVs with a clutch and they did not require this much finesse. All I wonder is, if this is a symptom of something being wrong? Or if this is just how it is. Thanks for any help.
  3. Any1 know of honda of troy on ebay are they good reliable??
  4. At the end of last season I had some really weird symptoms and it turns out I shattered the main transmission bearing(the one pressed into the right crankcase, under the clutch basket). I tried to take the easy way out to get one last ride and I only replaced that bearing. I flushed some oil through and ran it. When I did a test run down the road 1, 3, and 5 hooked great but 2 and 4 slipped. If I was gentle, I could get it moving in 2nd, but it would start grinding if I got on it. I’m guessing I have some round gears in there? Is there anything easier that could be wrong? I know I’m looking at splitting cases either way but I’d like to be a little prepared before I do.
  5. What would cause this bogging when I blip the throttle at idle and the high idle surge ? If I leave it it does idle ok 92 cr125 brand new carb, top end and reeds. Pretty much rides fine though. Stock jetting. Video here : https://imgur.com/gallery/YYrK9WK
  6. I’ve been building a cr125 and have hit a roadblock, the right crank case is shot and I need a new one. I’ve been looking all over the internet and it seems like it’s the only part that you can’t get your hands on, is there anyone out there with a 02-04 Cr125 parts bike that I can buy the cover off of? Also I don’t mean the clutch cover I mean the one that the clutch cover goes on to
  7. Have a fresh bottom up rebuild with 5.4 hours on it, I’ve got an hour meter, and all of a sudden while practicing at the local, my throttle started climbing and then fluctuated at a high idle. Checked my throttle cable, no pinches or binds. Turned my air screw which bogged it dead or climbed it higher so I set it back to where I had it. So I figured it’s an air leak somewhere. I saw some splooge around the power valve cover and on the same corner of the jug, as well as leading up to the spark plug. I checked the plug and looks good, it was tight, and crush washer looks good. Anyone have any idea ? Races are on Saturday and Sunday !
  8. Just acquired the bike last week and going over it as it was sold as not running and needing a new top end. Compression checked out and spark was good. As it turns out it has some POS Chinese knock off PWK carb on it. After investigation I realized the float was wacked, and the main jet was just laying in there. So off to eBay I went to find a genuine Keihin, which I now have, and wanting to place an order for some carb parts. The carb was from a 2000 RM250. I have a #6 slide, and an N3WK needle. Would like some advice on pilot, main, and needle to purchase to work with the #6 slide if possible. It also has the 3-wire pigtail I need to address. I guess you just plug that with a bolt and solder the tiny outlet on the bowl side? Also the choke has multi-positions you can rotate? Should that be swapped out for the standard style, or leave it alone? My elevation is approximately 750ft in central Indiana.
  9. Hey y'all!! Looking to put my 2001 cr125 onto a 2004 crf250 frame and swingarm. Does anybody know if they are compatible? Any help would be much appreciated 🙂
  10. I have a 2000 CR125R and I was wondering if the 2002 CR125R plastics would fit onto it? I have been looking around and I can't find any restyle kits for my year and model, if you know of any it would be great if you could point me in that direction. Thanks
  11. I have been looking to replace all the graphics/plastics on my 1998 cr125. Because of the bikes age and relative good condition I wanted to keep it looking like a 23 year old bike, and want to find the original style graphics, and the same font for the white on blakc number plate but can't find it anywhere. I think the company that makes it just doesn't make those graphics anymore, as well as the seat cover, but is it possible i could find the graphics still? here any way i
  12. Hey guys, I was going to rebuild a 2004 Cr125 for a friend of mine when we discovered the right side case was cracked. We have been looking for over a month for a case half or even a complete set and can't find one new or used anywhere. Do any of you guys have any leads on where I might be able to pick one up? Thanks!
  13. Hi all, so I bought an 2003 cr125 last year and it already had a vforce3 reed installed on it. I was reading eric gorr's recomended mods for my bike and he said that the vforce reeds were good but they had to be modified. I was a little confused about what he was saying needed to be cut off to so I grabbed some pictures of it and circled the parts I thought would be the correct ones. Could you guys let me know which parts need hacksawing? Thanks
  14. I know the 89' CR250 had the right crankcase cover aluminum instead of magnesium, but what about the 89' CR125. Is it alum. or mag.? If it's magnesium what year did Honda start the aluminum cover?
  15. HY MY FRIENDS. I NEED HELP FOR MY CR125R 2005. I BUY A CYLINDER A IN ROCKYMOUNTAIN BUT I NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE SAME OF MY OEM IN THE PICTURE. 16. Hello everyone. I need to paint the motor on my 1981 Honda CR125R and I can not seem to find the correct color in a motor paint. Thank you in advance.
  17. hi all, looking at the attached photo, the large shouldered collar (right side) came off an '04 cr125r, and the equal size came off a '05 cr125r. both purchased used so i have no faith if properly reassembled. parts diagram shows the same part number used for '04 and '05. I'll add I have a 2nd '04 and it's collar is similar to the '04 shown. Is this a sign of wear? or the wrong part used in reassembly of the '05? tia, parker
  18. 1984 CR125 If this is in the wrong forum I’ll move it. Anyways, hey guys, starting to get back into bikes and would like to fix my dads old CR back up. What happened is about 8-9 years ago in middle school I rebuilt the top end and it ran great for a long time and then one particularity hot day and hard riding the thing blew up. Cylinder was boiling hot and I thought it was from the coolant lines being clogged or the water pump going out, but after pulling it out of the barn today and inspecting it this is what I found. The cylinder has been honed and bored before, so it may can be again and or it may be shot anyways. From what I can recall, the rings were intact but stuck in the piston. What do you guys think happen and what are my options moving forward? Other than this and a few other little odds and ends, the bike could be back to running in a very short time. Bottom end is fine, I plan to flush it though so to get out any metal shavings. Ignore the surface rust I guess. Thanks!
  19. Hey all, first post long time lurker. I just picked up my 1st 2 stroke it's a 99 CR125R. The bike needs a rear tire, which I picked up. My issue is the rear axle nut. I've been searching and people say it's a 27mm (looks about right)...I gotta grab a 27mm socket that's NP,but in the meantime I noticed the nut was marred up a quite a bit so I called a few honda dealers for a replacement for when I reassemble. So far everyone I called said that a 99 125r rear axle nut is an 18mm. I know mine is not 18mm for sure,i had sockets up to an 22mm that was too small. Can any 100 percent confirm the nut size for me? Or shed some light as to why all the dealers are saying it is an 18mm and from what I've found on thumpertalk it's a 27mm? Thanks in advance!
  20. I got a 1990 cr125 a while ago and the cylinder and piston were in pretty bad condition, so I sent it to millennium technologies and had them do a 144 bore on it. Of course this also came with a new piston and ring. After assembling it the first time, it wouldn't start at all. I took it back apart, measured ring gap, resurfaced the head and checked it with a straight edge, etc... Everything checked out. I put it back together and it actually starts and runs now, but not very good. It starts easy enough but it has almost no low end power and refuses to rev out. After measuring the compression again, it's getting about 110-115 psi. What else could be causing the low compression? Is it possible I bent the ring when installing it?
  21. I was rebuilding my 2003 Honda Cr125 and I cracked the right side crankcase while assembling the cases. I need a 2003-2004 CR125 Right Crankcase ASAP. Will a 2002 right crankcase fit onto a 2003 left crankcase and jug? If you do have a 2003-2004 Right crankcase please message or email me.
  22. Well lads sorry if this is in the wrong section it's my first post on here, Im trying to figure out if any other mx exhaust will fit my 2001 cr125 as my hgs exhaust is gone to far to be fixed now but I know alot of tm racing 125s come with hgs exhaust and alot of cr parts fit them so I'm hoping a tm exhaust (or other makes) might fit I'm just looking for clarification it's only to keep me going untill I can buy a new hgs one, any help would be much appreciated
  23. I was wondering if anyone has put a 02-07 oversized tank in there 01 I came across one on Facebook and I could get a good deal on it I just don’t know if it would fit in my frame, Thanks.
  24. My 2001 cr125 is getting minimal power in 1st and 2nd gears. When in 1st gear it will not climb anything with a slight elevation or it bogs out and stalls. It needs some run to get some power, and will not grab any powerband. 2nd gear also has minimal power and wont grab powerband. 3rd-5th gear pull hard and as they should. Last owner I bought from is a bike family who took amazing care of this beautiful cr125, and replaced the top end right before I bought it. Any suggestions where to start? Could carb needle be off? Could whatever he rejetted the carb to after the top end rebuild be off and causing this? I havent torn it apart yet, and havent ordered any parts yet. Wanted some advice before I begin.
