  1. Hey everyone just wondering if there are anymore plans to open up a track here in OC. I know its a stretch but 10 years ago it seemed like everyone was trying so hard to open up a track here and now theres no one even attempting to? Last I heard was that the Irvine hangers were going to be converted into a MX track but that never happened, or maybe its still in the process? Screw all the liberal rich trash that seem to think that dirt bike riders are these obnoxious loud partiers trying to destroy the environment.

  7. Looking to come down to Chappie Shasta OHV weekend after next to escape the rain from northwest (coming from Eugene, Oregon)..just wondering if anyone had any tips on good trails for bikes (gnarlier the better). Did some research and found trail 7 and 11 as possible fun single track candidates!? I did find some info talking about some newer trails that may or may not be on the map? We will be using GPS so coordinates would work also.. Also, we are going to camp for the weekend, wheres the best place to camp? From my research it looks like if you come from out of state with a valid OHV sticker you're covered in California and don't need to purchase any additional permits\stickers etc? If it's simply NOT raining the weather will be perfect for us... 🙂 Thanks
  8. Everyone should be calling the Miwuk Ranger station about this at (209) 586-3234 Closing this road blocks our access to ride Deer Creek. I ride and travel that road frequently and there is no reason for it to be closed. It is another attempt by the Stanislaus Ranger District to limit our access to OUR Forest! This is from their Facebook Page Stanislaus National Forest, Forest Service Road 3N58 (Deer Creek Road) is temporarily closed due to high hazard tree danger. Call the MiWok ranger station at 209-586-3234 for more information. OHV users are encouraged to use Crandall Peak Road or Hull Creek Road.
  9. I've done this trail and find it much harder then trail 6. That said I have not done it in years and currently I am not ridding as my ride buddies know. My goal is next summer to do it again but I was wondering if any body has seen it lately. I was wondering about its condition and if it was even in decent shape.
  10. Does anyone have some details about the Los Coyotes MC enduro race at rowher? Jan 19th..... Format?
  11. I'm sure most of the guys here never rode there 15 plus years ago when it was considered an A level riding area. Those were the days, no trail maintenance and bike swallowing ruts with nothing but single track. Too bad they ruined it, it kept a lot people out and was a safer place to ride without the fear of a head on. There were no fenced off areas, and some of hills were flat out gnarly.
  12. I was taking my kids, a buddy and his kids to Bear Reservoir. While walking the cooler from the SUV I stopped a loan ATV'er and asked him where all the bikes I saw cruising around were going since they were not plated. Seems like a nice area. It seems there is a whole dirt biking world out there to explore. Anyone know the area really well and can speak to it? I think life would get possible twice as good if you could explore miles and miles of that scenery with a dirt bike. Say it is so!
  13. Kennedy Meadows trip planned for Jul 5-7 2013. Vintage Slide show from 2006 Most will arrive Friday night riding Sat & Sun. Typically we camp together at Troy Overflow. If the group stays small we can use Troy instead if you prefer. Nice new facilities for a few bucks. Group is made up of guys from RIDERS, ADV, DBA, Café Husky & TT. Since we are coming from multiple sites a master RSVP list is here : http://ridersonline....opic,195.0.html No login required to RSVP .
  14. Starting a new thread for people that like to or want to go to Ocotillo Wells, I go a lot and know the areas well. Figured I would start another thread for this season to try and meet up with riders to go have some fun! First weekend is this one, lemme know if your thinking about coming out and I would love to go ride and give tours for those that are unfamiliar with the region. Leaving tonight until Sun eve or Monday, bringing my RV, Jeep TJ, and a few motorcycles (YZ250, CRF450, CR500) Should be a blast! At this point I dont have anybody to ride with this weekend so post up if you wanna go play in the dirt. There is a little bit of everything out there so its extremely diverse and a lot of fun as long as you know where to go, it can get boring if you just follow the map around to the points of interest...but I know of much better ways around, as well as the BLM areas where there is so much more to do! -Speed
  15. Went out to Cow Mountain today for the first time in 2+ years. I had one of the best rides in quite some time. There were just a few people out there and I didn't run into anyone on the trails. My loop was from Lakeport side to 17 to 24 to 6 to 3 down the road to 11 to 19 (never rode it before but it's my new favorite trail. Reminds me of an trail 24 some time ago) to 20 to the horse trough. To finish the day I figured i would drop down Benmore (23) and take it 25 around and up to the main road. From the Benmore Bridge to the steep climb up it seemed like it was better but where I thought it would get better the trail seemed like it was way rutted out where it used to be really nice. So I continued down the rutted and shale trail 23 turned right to jump on 25. Boy was I in for a surprise. From where 25 goes deep in to Scott's creek down to the Lp side to the creek crossing on 25 was a mess ! I couldn't believe the ruts, erosion, and everything else that the trail has endured. My dad used to ride his quad with me on these trails all the time and it was like our favorite loop. So I then crossed the creek and started the climb out 25 and I made it about half way before I came to a halt with a big rut on one side and shale on the other. I kept making attempts walking etc. until my bike started to over heat. I shut her off let her cool and thought about which way I should pick to get outta the mess while in the middle of the hill. I decided to turn around and take the rutted up mess. I managed to make it up that side after a lot of clutches and straddling the ruts. Even with a new front and rear tire it was a mess! Was the trail just kicking my butt or does anyone else struggle through those parts? I don't even know how they could call that a dual track trail for quads and 4x4s with how nasty the single track was now a days. I am glad my Dad wasn't on his quad because that coulda been real nasty. Please let me know what you guys think of it !
  16. Never ridden Johnson Valley OHV. Advice and riders needed. Where to go, what to bring, any thing to watch out for. Thankx Date: April 13-14 2013
  17. This sucks. . . http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/eldorado/news-events/?cid=STELPRDB5362068 Court Order Prohibits Motorized Vehicle Travel on 42 Popular OHV Routes Release Date: Apr 4, 2012 Placerville, CA Contact(s): Frank Mosbacher Forty-two off-highway-vehicle routes that cross meadows in the Eldorado National Forest may be closed to motor vehicle travel this recreation season while the Forest Service completes an environmental analysis, announced Eldorado National Forest Supervisor Kathy Hardy. The potential travel prohibitions are the result of a February 2012 court order by U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence Karlton. The order said the Forest Service failed to comply with the National Forest Management Act in 2008 when it designated “open for public motor vehicle use” portions of 42 routes that cross meadows. Judge Karlton ordered the Forest Service to “set aside” the decision that designated these segments as open and to reconsider the decision. A final court order with further direction to the Forest Service is pending. In the interim, Karlton ordered the 42 routes remain closed to motorized public use. The final order will identify specifically where travel will be prohibited until a new environmental decision is made. “I know that prohibiting travel on these routes will be a big disappointment to forest visitors, but we have to be responsive to the order.” said Hardy. “I have a team of people lined up to complete a supplemental environmental impact statement as quickly as possible.” The SEIS is scheduled to begin in April or May 2012 and to be completed by April 2013. Hardy says many popular high county routes may be affected by the closure. Some of these routes include: Barrett Lake Jeep Trail; Squaw Ridge Four Wheel Drive Trail; Clover Valley/ Deer Valley Trail; Strawberry Four Wheel Drive Trail; Carson Emigrant Trail; Allen’s Camp Motorcycle Trail and the Bucks Pasture Motorcycle Trail. The Rubicon 4wd Trail is not affected by this court order. Maps and a complete list of the routes affected by the court order will be posted on the Eldorado National Forest website at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/eldorado. These maps will be modified to reflect the final court order once it is received. A free-of-charge motor vehicle use map that shows the routes that are open to wheeled motor vehicle use will be available at all Eldorado National Forest offices in June 2012 reflecting the final order. “I intend to close the routes where it makes sense to do so if the final order prohibits travel on routes that cross meadows,” said Hardy. “A route may be closed near a meadow or some distance away depending on how difficult it is to turn a vehicle around.” Some routes will also be closed indirectly because they branch off closed routes and will not be accessible.
  18. Can someone tell me about it? I like to check out new places and it is close to home so I figure, why not? Even if it is small, I want to check it out. Also, What is the best route to Frank Raines from Livermore? Mines or 5 to Del Puerto?
  19. The Town of Stonyford Welcomes Riders Back Today (pics of trails, etc. in blog) http://thegeneralsrecreationden.blogspot.com/2013/05/town-of-stonyford-welcomes-ohv.html Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this happen. Don
  20. Heres a little helmet cam footage from the primetime hare scramble at metcalf yesterday. for some reason my camera stopped recording after about 6 minutes. i had a great time. thanks to the TimeKeepers MC for putting it on. 👍
  21. Took my new WR2015F to Hungry Valley this Friday and Saturday. I rode 61 miles on Friday (a bunch of 1 to 1 1/2 hour rides) and then did a 21 mile ride Saturday morning before heading home. I've read that for more advanced riders this place can get boring but as a skills building trip I was in heaven. I tried to divide my time between practice (drills) and just fun riding. I hit all four corners of the valley. Two crashes: the first was a numb skull couldn't make a turn and plowed into sagebrush, the second was a hill climb where I hit a rut and went down hard. The bike finally looks like a dirt bike! A few people said the next couple months are not a good time to go because of the heat but I don't mind the heat, especially when you keep moving. And this is an amazing stat: in 90 miles of riding, while I saw lots of riders off on other trails, I only met riders two times: a couple of ATVs one time and two dirt bikes another time. Blew me away. That said, breaking down on some of the more remote trails in the afternoon would not be fun. I could have done without the ATV riders who thought it was fun to let their kids race up and down the campground road, sending clouds of dust over my campsite even though there was a legit trail not thirty yards away, but oh well. As for the idiocy...this is almost funny. I'm just getting back to riding after thirty years. So when two ATVs passed me and waved, I waved back. A bit later when I met two bikers and they waved, I waved. Only when two ATVs later passed me and waved did it trigger a memory of reading some tips on trail etiquette. Of course you guys already know the punch line. They were indicating how many riders were following, and since I waved with an open hand they must have been wondering where those five riders behind me were!!! Fortunately those were my only encounters. I promise to never make that mistake again. I highly recommend HV for any novice to intermediate riders to improve their skills. I can't wait to go back.
