  1. 2012 49er Family Enduro Update The Polka Dots MC has scheduled this year's 49er Family Enduro for Saturday May 12th, back on Mother's Day weekend, and in the Mother's Day spirit we will be offering $25 entries to all Moms. As always the event will be held at the Gold Note OHV Trail System in the Eldorado National Forest, and we are looking forward to making this a fun event for all that attend. There is one new issue that came up this year in our permit to run the event, and that is that the Forest Service has heightened concerns about "Noxious Weeds", and the potential for the spread of these weeds across the forest. What does this mean to us? Well, the Forest Service will be performing motorcycle inspections at the event looking for dirt that could contain seeds of "Noxious Weeds". The bottom line, IF YOU SHOW UP WITH A DIRTY BIKE THEY MAY NOT ALLOW YOU TO RIDE THE EVENT. Please help us show the Forest Service that their concerns are unfounded by showing up with a clean bike. That way you can enjoy another great 49er Family Enduro, and perhaps we can show the Forest Service that this type of inspection is unnecessary. Here's a link to the flyer: http://www.polkadots...ly_Flyer_V3.pdf Thanks, Curt Backhaus President, Polka Dots MC
  2. the offroad world has lost another champion.wec champion mika ahola.ride in peace.
  3. I pulled this from ktm talk I hope if loads
  4. Anyone game to ride some fire roads south of Corona today.
  5. What's it like. I read the review in W2R, but need more info. Is there kiddie riding (50cc) some on training wheels. Would it be crowded and all CG spots taken Fri am of Pres. Weekend? Is ther emore than a day of riding there? Review says hard hill climbs or boring trail. What else is there to say about it. Is their circle them up area for the TT. 4 families in our group? Any Pix?
  6. First off I didn't take any pics, forgot the camera back at the house. After getting my folks settled in I tried to do a quick trip up the switchbacks heading South out of Silver Lake. There's a lot more snow up there than I thought, with the temps being cool it's not melting. On Saturday it pretty much drizzled all day long and even spat some snow on occasion. Global Warming MY ARSE! So anyway, there's always a snow patch on the second leg of the switchbacks that stays the longest and I wanted to see how big that particular patch was to judge the rest of the system of trails. Well, I didn't even get close to the switchbacks. I didn't even get half way up the trail between all the downed trees and mountains of snow drifts. It'll be at least until 4th of July weekend before that trail might be open. I'm sure there's some out there that can do it beforehand but those are the guys that do re-routes and tear up the ground around the snow drift and really piss of the "other side." (forest service included) So I turned around and decided to hit Horse Canyon. After raining off and on all day the lower half of Horse Canyon was fantastic-anybody mention potting soil! I rode about 3/4 of the way up and since I was alone decided not to ride the last 1/4 rock climb to the top so I turned around. The forest circus has cut the trees somewhat that cross the trail, but it's another quality job. I saw some snow drifts up high but they should be open in a couple of weeks (assuming the weather warms up.) Ran into a couple of other guys that were going to run Buck's Pasture or maybe Strawberry but I didn't find out how they faired. Since most of Strawberry jump run sidehills a south face it should be clear. I'm assuming Buck's Pasture would be good except for the pasture itself, I'm sure it's really muddy and wet. So I thought we were told we had a bad winter this year? No, we just had a late winter this year. Stick to the trails, don't do re-routes, the MVUM map is for free at the forest service stations or you can download it from the El Dorado map page. New rules are in effect, if there's no sign stating it's open than it's now closed. Be safe and 👍 Ed
  7. click here This is only my 3rd time at the track. I'm the big guy #78. How do I look?
  8. Guys, Let's hit the LPNF this Sunday. I'm picking Sunday as there are a few who may be interested, but are workin on Saturday. This just may be the last run in the LPNF for the season. I'm hoping we can do a semi technical route. gotta test out my KTM and my knee. I wanna go up Tejon, through the rock garden. Then head UP Arrastra, across the fireroad to the tower. down Whata to Tejon. Across Tejon to Long Dave. Down Long Dave to Lockwood. Up Lockwood to Piru. up Piru to Goldhill. sneak over to Goldhill. Up Goldhill to Tejon. and back down Tejon into the park. Arrastra could be difficult, but fun (loose shale rock and washed out switchbacks) Lockwood climb can get you too, but it's worth it. (torn up and rutted by jeeps) Piru has the few obstacles (water crossing, sand, rocks, and ramp) Who's in..? 👍:ride:
  9. As the title says.....I want to enter some D37 races. Would like to do the whole 2012 season next year. What is my first move? Join AMA then D37? What class should I put myself in? Im 30...bout to turn 31......30+ beginner? Novice? Or the reg non-vet classes? Never done any kinda dirt bike racing...but have been riding many years. Not sure how the points system works as far as the different kind of races. Point me in the right direction, thanks.

  11. Looks like it's time for new sprockets and from what I've been told, if you replace the sprockets, you should replace the chain too. So I'm looking for a good deal on a quality product. I want dependablity and durability over a tiny bit of weight savings, etc. This is what pulls up on Rocky Mountain for my bike, but I'm not sure if these are good quality or not. Any advice? http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/vehicleFilter.do?prevVehicleType=2&prevMake=5&prevModel=4091&keyword=&vehicleTypeId=2&make=5&model=4091&applyFilter=Change+Vehicle&year=2007&navTitle=Drive&webCatId=9&navType=type&webTypeId=123&uri=%2FtypeDetail.do

  13. Raced this track twice in the past 3 weeks. I tell everyone I know (not many since I just moved to CA) about this track. So far since I moved here in June I have rode Milestone, Pala, Comp Edge, and Lucas Oil MX. Compared to FL I am impressed with all of them to be honest. I do like how Lucas Oil Mx runs their place and takes care of the track though. It is pretty cool that racing on Friday is free. Last night they had a total of 7 motos. The last time it was only 5 motos. Anyone else racing there? Any other places I should try? I like the Comp edge track also as they had some nice jumps that all levels could complete.
  14. Okay...Who wants to chime in on the best 2013 motorcross bike? I like the Honda CRF450r but concerned about the air shocks heating up, especially since I do more trail riding than motorcross. Please tell me your thoughts about pros and cons of all 2013s.
  15. Okay so I like to plan, especially with a wife and two boys. So who is in? Usual camp ground...I think Troy overflow?
  16. Anybody interested in riding KM Friday June 21 - 22? I was thinking of leaving Thursday night (6/20) and riding Friday (6/21) and Saturday (6/22), leaving Saturday night. Any takers?

    Gorman Sunday

Anybody riding Gorman Sunday? I finally picked up a green sticker bike so I no longer have to wait until October. I usually ride alone but I am interested in riding with others. Anybody going?
  18. Next weekend is our last seat time before President's Day.....Blake and I are considering back to back CC day rides next weekend. Unconfirmed as of yet but we're thinking more Big Boy on Saturday and Moto Chick on Sunday. I'm willing to tour again on Saturday as long as 1) Your ducks are in a row and 2) You are prepared to ride AIMLESSLY! Most of you regulars know the deal.....let's see how the week wears on. I'm thinking +/-70 mile capacity for those who need to carry fuel. Sunday would be Moto Chick seat time, primarily so my Chick can get used to the new flywheel on her 250X (Thanks Paul!). Actually my Chick rides pretty good and while we don't go big mileage, these rides are a nice mellow loop to Randsburg and back. I'm not looking for a freight train, especially because the dust will be bad. I've started a rain dance already for President's Day.....
  19. Gonna do an LPNF (Los Padres National Forest) ride this Saturday morning. It's gonna be a fairly easy route, call it my "Here's the Forest you Biatches..." route. a mix of single track with fire roads. nothin real difficult, but it's not the blue circles like in the park. If interested, meet us at Edison Stagin Area (first one on left in enter from Gorman main entrance) BEFORE 8am. We plan on headin out promptly at 8am. Even though it should be cooler up in the mountain than down below, bring plenty of water. Plan on a 40-50 mile run. most likely up east frazier, across foreroads, down whata, over tejon, down long dave, up west frazier, down whata again, down tejon. depending on the timing and the group, we could add going up lockwood and piru. but that all depends on the group and how froggie EVERYONE feels. Come on' I'm the Old man, can you hang? LOLOL. So far.. TrueP and myself. anyone else?
  20. With the LABtoV quickly approching and my 530 recently back from service. I figured I needed to get out and put in some miles. Leaving Ridgecrest I figured I would headout to find the B-24 crash site and maybe visit some others while in the area. Did 130 miles total and took some pics along the way... A quick stop at the X-15 monument.. What I set out to find the B-24 site. The plaque along with some parts. Heading east from the B-24 site I figured I would swing by the B-1 site. Passing the old Boron Prison along the way.. Found a few signs along the way.. Finally over to the B-1 Site.. Still alot of parts around.. Time to head towards home... Open house Downhill Looking back on the downhill Anyone know a translator? Some single track Flipped Caddy
  21. Itchin' to get back up the hill and check out some new to me trails up in Gorman and LPNF . . . wanted to check out a trail or two that I saw on the map that Rick made for me. Trying to keep it to a mild to intermediate run so I'm not over my head but not looking to run dirt roads or green trails . . . pretty much up to try any of the trails in the park, but am bit more selective when it comes to what I'll try up on the mountain! Let me know if you are interested in coming out or post up if you plan to head out locally and don't mind if I tag along! 😛
  22. Let's do another Cal City Desert Run on Saturday. The weather is suppose to be better than last week. Saturday 'Borax Bills' 8am Between now and then, we can come up with a route. we could go with a route similar to last week (around 100 miles), or change it up a bit. maybe add the prison and b1 crash sites. suggestions? who is interested?
  23. How would i go about getting it legal in cali want to run vin if anyone knows where i can run vin to see if its stolen. guy im buying bike from doesnt have it in his name but has pink slip and registered from Louisiana pink slip is signed off and reaady to sell from old owner is lousiana, I guess he never signed it to claim bike but something just seems off. he sent me photos of everything pink slip documents
  24. So I did the stupidest thing that no rider should do. I bought a motorcycle with no paper work but 4 loose lean of sale papers, checking that the motorcycle wasn't stolen by doing my own research with the VIN and bought it as is. I went to the DMV and they told me I was missing 1 paper out of 4. I currently have in my possession the Certification of Lien for Vehicle valued $4000/Less, DMV printout, and Notice of Pending Lien Sale. I'm missing the Certificate of Mailing (copy of proof of notification). Now, I don't know who would have this. The guy that sold it to me said that he never bothered to put it on his name and he doesn't have anything else. I only have the information of 3 parties that are on the papers mentioned above, and they are the Lien holder (a tow truck company which I called and said they don't have any information), Agent Acting for Lien Holder, and Registered Owner. I'm very ignorant about lien sales, so my apologies if this is simple for some. Who would have the certificate of mailing or how could I by pass all this and get my bike registered? I just read from other posts about CARS (California Auto Registration Service) which apparently for 3 different online sources coming from users, they can title any vehicle.
