Use your "tour" capabilities in GoogleEarth to see it even better. We look forward to many of you returning to our first NIGHT RACE of the year. We know you're going to have fun. Tell your sponsors that we are also looking for a few dollars to sweeten up the "pot" for the racers. If you have any questions, please call us or go to: www.altavistaevents.com Remember, you must have lights in order to race our next event. See you soon. AVE Lou and Lois Peralta
  2. Will be in mammoth lakes at end of month and have 2 days to ride with a couple buddies. Looking for suggestions for dualsport/ trail rides. Riding a wr450 plated and looking for fire roads singletrack but nothing really extreme. Perhaps 100-150 miles per day. Any recommendations on must do trails would be a great help as I am not familiar with the area at all
  3. Very Nice! Rocks, Roots, Dust & Loam! The Swimming Hole, The Hill of Death, The Bee Trail, The Cow Trail. A few locals may even show. I saw Santa Clause there once! Who knows................... Charlton Heston might be there!? Ted Nugent might come out of retirement. I know the He-Men from the TBSA will be! http://www.trailbikesportsmen.org/sac/schedule2011.htm

  5. Hey guys, quick question. Ive been riding in the SBNF for awhile and am now searching around for the more obscure trails. Today I found myself on a mountain bike trail south of Big Bear around Bluff Lake. I didn't intend to get on the trail but it was a absolute blast. My question is, what is the deal with these trails? Are they considered walking trails? Does the forest service even acknowledge them as official trails.? I'm assuming they're off limits for dirt bikes, plated or not(I'm plated) but I'm not sure. If anyone has any info or even opinions on the subject Id be curious to hear it.
  6. I am taking a couple of total newbies out to teach them some fundamental riding skills. Obviously being July it is raging hot out in the desert. I am thinking of taking them up to Big Bear but i dont know the area. Is there any particular areas up there that s od for beginers? They have all bought bikes and all of their bikes are GREEN stickered. Where could I take them that has some good rookie area to learn and then maybe a little bit of terrain that will start challenging them. They are all very athletic guys and ride bmx and have had little pit bikes so they are not true first timers and I am sure with a few pointers for braking and turning techniques they will want to move into some nice tails. Not TOO tight and technical but not just fire roads either. Any ideas gents? Thanks in advance.
  7. " Come ride, come ride with me...." LA freway # 405 shuts down for (3) days. Pefect for a little Pavment MX. Or not.....? "In planning for this closure, we gathered the best emergency around," said Cmdr. Andy Smith. "We tried to think of everything but some of these requests to bike on the Freeway, or hold 'on-ramp' parties, are beyond even what we had anticipated." However unusual the circumstances of a major freeway closure, Smith said that the law still applies, no matter what. That means anyone who thinks it would be fun to have a impromtu block party worthy of a beer commercial or zip their bike, skateboard, or do wheelies on a CRF450X while being chased by all the slow Orange Pumpkin-mobiles down the freeway, should expect "a swift and certain police response." Couldn't have said it better my self.
  8. CaveMike have flaky friends. Him want ride Saturday. Weather going be good, only going be low 80s. CaveMike intermediate rider. Him want ride at 8 or 9. You come ride, it be fun. CaveMike leave club at home.

  10. Does anyone want to go for a ride at Cow Mtn this Sunday? None of my friends or regular riding buddies can make it and I really want to ride. We should get a little rain on Thursday, and then have nice cool riding weather for the weekend. I was hoping to do 40+ miles, but would be up for more if anyone else was. I'm an intermediate rider on a yz250 2 stroke.
  11. Just picked up a XR650L and wanted to get the tires changed out by a shop the first time around so I can see how it's done. Any recommendations? Haven't really found any around (Torrance area) that seem reputable. Thanks guys! Mike
  12. I'm trying to plan for a trip to Stonyford on this year's Memorial Day weekend, it will be my first visit there. It's supposed to be a 3-day riding trip(3 days, 2 nights), camping with tents. For those who know the place, what's the best way to get there?(coming from the south through I-5). I hear there's two different entrances. If I'm sleeping in a tent, where are the better camping spots for that? I'd say I'm sort of an intermediate rider and I love woods riding, prefer narrow trails rather than "fire roads", and some hill climbing in between is nice too, not afraid of challenging areas. Also, how far out is it to "town" or some area with gas/snacks/food/drinks? I'd welcome some suggestions/advice on riding and camping there.
  13. A few of the highlights from a nice loop on Sunday. The real fun starts at 4:20. Working on a second video and will post shortly!

  18. I've posted a picture report of a recent trail maintenance day my wife and I participated in on the SD Adventure Riders site. I hate diverting traffic away from here, but frankly TT has a totally sucky picture size limit that just doesn't do the pics any justice. The report can be found here: http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10041-trail-appreciation-day/
  19. To All, In February 2011 during the drier conditions, the Forest Service performed trail maintenance on a segment of the 1 Trail (also known as the Rock Creek Loop Trail) southeast of Bald Mountain. The tread condition was still soft on this recently maintained section of the 1 Trail, so we plan to keep the closed to OHVs, bicycles and equestrians for some additional days to allow the trail to firm up. The trail is too soft to allow vehicles or horses on it without causing excessive damage. The trail closure would be temporary, but it is also dependent on how much more additional precipitation we receive. The past storms have kept the trail system closed since February 16. The trail closure would involve the segment of the 1 Trail between the 4-1 Trail (also known as the 12N71A Road) and the Bald Mountain Lookout Road (also known as the 12N72 Road). Signage would be placed to alert trail users of the trail closure at the staging areas and on the 1, 4, 4-1, 6 and 10 Trails. We appreciate your cooperation to temporarily stay off this segment of the 1 Trail, while trail conditions dry and firm up. The Rock Creek Trail System is currently still closed due to wet weather conditions. The storms continue to come in with rain, but it has been warmer, so the snow has melted from the western trails in the Rock Creek Trail System. Please call for the latest status of the Rock Creek Trails.
  20. OHMVR Commission will hold their April meeting in Hollister at Veteran Memorial Hall. Having been informed of the release of the new report, I made a point of making public comment at the Board of Supervisors meeting yesterday morning, alerting the Supervisors to the OHMVR meeting next month. I understand that the Board of Supervisors plan to place an item regarding Clear Creek on their agenda of their April 5 meeting. I do not have any more details about the OHMVR Commission meeting at this time and could not find any details on the State Parks web site. I also understand that the commission wishes to tour Clear Creek on April 6th. This is our chance, the California OHMVR Commission want to open Clear Creek. They have given the BLM $ 7,000,000.00 of our green sticker money. And then closed CCMA more info http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=144
  21. So how badly do I really need a paddle tire to ride at Gordons Well? I've got a brand new D606 out back, and I don't really feel like spooning on a paddle tire. Is the paddle tire worth it here?
  22. looking to ride tomorrow, all my partners have other "comitments"going with or without, would like to hook up with like minded rider or riders. thanks Steve 760-814-76foursix live in Encintas
  23. BLOG with photo http://thegeneralsrecreationden.blogspot.com/2011/03/hq-update-ohvers-testify-at-march-14.html Story The Recreation HQ wants to thank all members of the OHV family for attending the special OHMVR Commission meeting yesterday in Sacramento. HQ believes the commission admirably fulfilled its duty to represent OHV recreation by taking public testimony from a wide array of interests. This was the best attended commission meeting in the last 3 years and it showed the high level of concern by the OHV community regarding the $10 million dollar “shift” out of the OHV Trust Fund to the General Fund and the potential loan of $21 million dollars from the OHV Reserve Fund. HQ noted four reoccurring themes in most of the public testimony and commission comments. 1 – Stealing money from the OHV Trust Fund violates the public trust 2 – Stealing money from the OHV Trust Fund is a double tax 3 – Stealing money from the OHV Trust Fund is illegal 4 – Stealing money from the OHV Trust Fund violates the legislative intent of SB742 After an hour or two of public testimony the commission voted to send a letter to the Governor and legislature regarding their opposition to taking the money which violates the public “trust” in the Trust Fund. They are also going to send a letter seeking to resolve the fungible issue based on what many feel is an illegitimate decision made by the Legislative Analyst’s Office in 2009. After taking a short break, the commission reconvened and took additional public comment on non-agenda issues. BRC’s Don Amador updated the commission on some recent developments regarding Clear Creek. Those updates and issues included the congressional hearing last week where the BLM Director was asked about the closure of Clear Creek, the commission and public should receive an update or status report on the OHMVR Division’s Asbestos Study, and the FEIS is on the brink of being published in the Federal Register. HQ believes the commission is considering a meeting in the Hollister area in the next 3-4 weeks to review the Clear Creek issue. That is a good thing. Thanks to all for taking time off work to attend this meeting. Your commitment to the program made a lasting impression on state park staff, the OHV commission, and me.
  24. First off, anybody going? Second, why is this track consistently opinionated as the best track in the nation and it is only open for one race series once a year? Why don't they have weekly practice days like every other track?
