Bought the bike with a devastated counter shaft bearing, leaking oil everywhere... took it to the mechanics to get it fixed & ended up investing in an cylinder upgrade. Oil & water pump were replaced, all bearings substituted & the counter shaft upgraded. --- Next in line substitute the front a rear wheel bearings drive shaft bearing replacement installing a new black 14L Acerbis tank front a rear brake light installation black SM mask installation to match the tank new Odometer installation (old ones RPM counter is busted & I don't like it's handling much) new mask holders (those rubber things ? ) new back tire eventually! ... can't think of more and it's already enough ? ... --- I don't know how many km it has on it's back... It's third hand, and there was no odometer installed on it with regularity ? As of October onward I will be spending a lot of time in the countryside & I will need the DRZ mainly to commute over badly maintained gravel roads in order to get to work. Those roads kill every car suspension

    440 Athena BB Kit

Great bike to start off on. Tons of modifications to do along the way. Bulletproof. Don’t get if you need to run errands. For me, I get on to go to the store and I’m gone for 3 hours and don’t even make it to the store. Leave 2 hours before work because you can’t just ride it for 15 minutes. SM wheels are a game changer. Bigger tank for sure. Ride all day. Yep. This thing definitely saved me from certain doom 👻

CP-CARRILLOHIGH PERFORMANCE PISTONS Pistons are the backbone of any true hardcore racing engine and that’s where CP-Carrillo excels. Our Engineering department started off analyzing the competition, gathering industry data and deciding to make the highest level of pistons, period. The heart and soul of our pistons are built through our Engineering Department and its resources. This department is made up of several factors that push them ahead of the competition; Reverse Engineering, Design Experience and Flexibility, Analysis and R&D. As in racing, it takes a lot to be number one; here at CP-Carrillo we have it all and are number one in piston design, enabling our customers to come in first on race day. Our commitment to excellence continues to advance as the industry changes. This commitment has resulted in more forgings specific to certain applications, proprietary treated wrist pins and rings manufactured only for us. Each of these aspects has been put through stringent research and development stages to ensure that our product will exceed your standards. Our staff is committed to your success through technical support and account maintenance. All of our sales staff are equipped with comprehensive information from piston specs to applications, and are committed to grow our business in a positive and professional manner so that your business can do the same.

Eric Gorr Racing follows a pattern of sending out parts with issues and then offering free return shipping to correct them. The problem is that we racers are on a schedule, needing to get engines together, and that some of his things can't be fixed. His offer sounds good, but is a big problem for those on a schedule. Example: I paid $60 (by check) to machine a two stroke KTM TC65 head to fit a 2mm overbore and got back an untouched head that hit the piston, damaging it. I got a $460 (paid by PayPal) TC65 ported, +2mm, offset bore top end kit. Issues: head wasn't machined to clear piston, and would have hit for that reason, and also because it was surfaced .010". He claims no knowledge of this, despite obvious machining marks. The piston was also inexplicably .013" above the cylinder. Piston and head were obviously going to collide. And, the cylinder was not ported, just scuffed up with a sanding cone in the long part of the exhaust port to fool inexperienced buyers. No raising or re-angling of any port, no altering the intake skirt of the piston as is common when porting a TC65. Fake, a fraud. Consider the obvious lie, that he will fix plated cylinders that were not ported. Since they are sent to a specialty shop and stripped, bored, plated and sent back to him for sale w/o porting OR stripped, bored, sent to Eric for porting, sent back for restripping, plating and finally back to Eric for sale, he's not going to do all that after a fake is noticed. One bike got out in time for the first race by recycling/opening up the first, unsurfaced head he sent me to fit the $460 +2mm bore kit. I cut the piston intake skirt as it typically is on properly ported TC65s to increase intake duration, as it should have been sent to me. I had to recycle his parts and make them work. No time for him to “correct” things/drag it all out, as he has with others many times before. PayPal should realize he's a serial violator of the public trust when yet another Conflict Resolution case comes around. He sounds innocent when offering shipping to get parts back and fix them. I pointed this out to them. Many reviews talk of missing a lot of races waiting for him to "correct" parts. He doesn't take credit cards, likely to prevent Dispute Resolution cases. Interstate Theft by Check is what he's guilty of in the case of my first head, where he reboxed it and sent it back to me unaltered. You may get a good modification kit from him, but you're very likely to run into a world of trouble and disappointment with Eric Gorr Racing. Perhaps he suffers Alzheimer's or dementia, as he's old now. He revealed something when he asked me to send him head bolts with my top end to get the head/cylinder aligned correctly, since it's the factory alignment dowels that do that job- not the bolts. He has no business doing offset-bore top end work without knowing that, and having dowels on hand to get the head fitted correctly. Thumbs Down review. PayPal, please stop enabling this person by conducting business with him.

I bought this 7/19 brand new. Sitting on the dealer's floor for a long time and he wanted to get rid of it. $6000 out the door. I've de-smogged, mikuni tm40, DG slipon, FMF powerbomb headers, IMS tank, 15-50 sprockets, 40 sprocket I match with a 15 for extensive highway riding. All front sprockets are Fritz. Tusk handguards, cyclerack rear rack, uni filter, desnorkled, Sutton oil cooler, xrs only temp. dipstick, stage 1 hot cam,1 inch silencer in the DG. Got a jug bored to 670, wiseco 10.5 to 1 piston I haven't installed yet. Best bike ever!

Not the best handling bike, but it's been super reliable. I've owned it since 2008 and never had any major issues. I replace topends every 100ish hours, mostly because the wrist pin. Everything else is always within specs, but the chrome on the wrist pin is always galled. Stock DID rims were destroyed in the first year. Laced up some Warp9's and been good ever since.

295cc big bore with NSC plating. Came with Wossner forged piston. Chose the pump gas/more power everywhere porting package.
  14. i have a '02 cr80r that i am thinking of changing the sprocket size on ,the bike has an insane topend which is absolutely amazing but i would like to be able to get just a bit more torque out of it on the bottom end . i am leary of the bb kit and have been told that simply changing my sprocket size will do the same thing what are the best sprocket combos to acheive max efficiency
