This is my first motorcycle. Well, technically it's my second, but I made the mistake of thinking I could learn to ride a motorcycle/dirt bike on a CRF 150RB, so I don't count it. Boy, was I wrong! Having zero previous motorcycle experience on road, dirt, or otherwise, the little Honda was too torque-y for me. I should have gotten the CRF 150FB, in retrospect. Luckily, after seeing videos of the likes of Graham Jarvis (5x British trials champ) and Toni Bou (gazillion time international trials champ), I decided to go, on a whim, as a spectator to a local trials event. After some kind souls let me try out their 80cc and 125 cc machines, I immediately fell in love. It was quieter, the engine wasn't as intimidating, it didn't stall as easily, and the "hit" was minimal when I twisted the throttle. I sold the little Red Rocket after less than a year (Oct 2018-June 2019) and got this sweet little Gas Gas! Since then it's been an amazing learning experience. 2 years ago, I couldn't even get going on a dirt bike without stalling the engine 3 out of 4 times, and I didn't dare go any faster than first gear when I did get going! Now, after owning this bike for 10 months, I can kick start my little bike myself, get going without stalling it at all, shift through my gears, and even go over some smaller logs! It is so light, I have no problem picking it up off the ground if I happen to take a spill. I have learned how to slip my clutch to keep traction on my rear wheel, and I can beat my motocross racing fiancee (who has been riding for years) at the slow race any day of the week. My endurance, balance, and clutch/throttle control improves every time I ride. I also have the good habit of keeping my feet on the pegs and constantly covering the front brake and clutch levers with one finger. I highly recommend this bike (if you can find one!) if you have an adult who has never ridden in their lives and wants to learn (aka me, 2 years ago). I'm 5'4", and I fulfilled the stereotype of a shorter adult woman who wanted to learn to ride a dirt bike, was not an "aggressive" rider, and was VERY intimidated by a motocross bike. I don't know why more people in the U.S. don't learn to ride on a trials bike. I'm excited to make the jump to a KLX140G/KLX140R F in the next year and hopefully have a way better experience learning to ride the track/woods. The skills I've learned and the FUN I've had in 10 months on the Gasser is so much more significant than the 9 months I had the Honda (which was an AMAZING little bike, don't get me wrong. Just not for a new rider!)
  21. Where can I but new blue or blue and white plastics for a 2002 EC300? I found some red, white, and yellow, but no blue. How about factory style graphics? I heard that certain years of KX plastic may be interchangeable, but which year and model ( can you even buy blue KX plastic?)? Thanks. -Todd
  22. Hi , seem to be having issues with my Gas gas txt 280 stalling when turning left down hill in trials sections ( going slow) . Carb is clean and jetted well . Any ideas?
  23. Is it too picky to ask a dealer when you’re buying a brand new bike to give you one that’s fresh out of the crate instead of the showroom model? Asking since my buddy will be buying a brand new Yamaha YZ450F and is worried about buying the showroom model since the last showroom model he bought had a bent radiator, bent rim, and a cracked subframe and air box. Luckily he discovered all this before riding it and after getting home. The dealer did end up fixing and replacing all those but it took awhile to get all the parts. (Bike was a 2013 KTM 450 XC-F)
  24. Looks like to me the GasGas talk out numbers any "exotic" bike in this section. Maybe it's due for it's own page? They aren't to "exotic" anymore. Any thoughts?
  25. Hey guys i swamped my 2007 wr450f. Bad. The bike fell onto its left side and covered most of the seat, when i went to hurry and pick it up, my dumbass pulled the clutch and throttle so it wouldnt die. It hydro locked and was able to break it free after an hour. Kicked it slowly over and over and over without the ignition on so it wouldnt fire over. I was able to start it 5 hours later when i pushed my self home. Took the filter out and drove it into the garage. Yes i drove it the garage. Oil was MILKY AF. I started working 12 hour days so i didnt tend to the oil problem. I filled it up with as much oil as i could. And drained it twice a day for 4 days when i got off work. All the water is out now. The bike now will only stay running with the choke on. And bogs out when i take it off or pull the throttle. I air sprayed all connections, took the sparkplug out, saw a lot of dirt in there, blew most of it out. Looked through the carb, can notice a little bit of rust. Not bad. Bike has compression, when the choke is on and bikes running, the lights go bright so i know the stator isnt &%$#@!ed. The computer and the wiring were all submerged, dirt in those connections. Any info or anyone with simuliar issues that can help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks
