  1. Ok now that we found out that the bike is a 2000 xc125 gasgas. Where i can i locate a service manual for this model? A free download would be perfect.
  2. Today I heard a strange noise, that only appears when the engine is hot. When cruising in any gear as soon as I close the throttle I hear a knock. It is one single knock. The bike is stock, except that I installed a GP head with 1,8mm squish (instead of 2mm of the stock head) GG says use 98 octane fuel but I only could get 95. And it never did ping/knock before with 95 octane gas. The knock is only audible when I ride with low rpm's in any gear and it is only audible the moment I close the throttle. It is pretty loud. I checked a lot of things but I fear it comes from inside the motor. I called a GG dealer and friend in Germany and he says the GP head has too much compression for the EC 300. But to be honest that's hard to believe as piston and cylinder of both engines are identical. I measured 2mm of squish with the standard head and 1.8 with the GP head. But he says the squish aint the problem, its the combustion chamber which raises the compression too much. My OEM head has been on the lathe and 0,5mm been taken off, creating higher compression and 1,55 squish. So I took off 0.25mm of the squish band and also took a little bit off the combustion chamber. I will try this head and check if the capacity of the chambers off both heads differ. If it is not a typical ping, what else could it be? And why would the engine knock/ping only once in exactly the moment I close the throttle. Bike runs fine, has good fuel consumption and rips like an animal... (will crosspost to GG Rider Forum)

  4. DOES ANYBODY MAKE A FXXXKING SLAVE CYLINDER FOR A GG 300 EC ,2002 model?? I challenge anyone to prove my wrong , it is worthless without a functional clutch!! Please I'm actually desperate as hell right now do I have any options anywhere in finding a slave cylinder for this bike ?? I saw something about a dryclutch once but I couldn't imagine finding even one of these either...Oh wait , rekluse makes one ,but you can not just buy it alone ,no , u must spend a grand on a CX RADIUS CLUTCH KIT???? Are u kidding me right now? somebody somewhere pls show me there's atleast one option out there !

  6. 2019 EC 300 (not 2018) Only 2018 models are known for starter issues... Starter worked flawless for almost 50 hrs, even with a smaller Shido battery. It never ever hesitated or had similar issues as the 2018's. On Saturday I rode with a friend and the starter worked like normal. After the ride I washed the bike as usual. Today I changed the jetting and when I started the bike it hesitated almost exactly like in the well known video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXXjFw9ghDE&ab_channel=MotoCenterPowersports It just turned the engine half a turn then stopped and made a weird whining noise. I tried several times and always waited about 20 seconds between the starting attempts. As the voltage indicator on the dash said the battery is empty I measured the voltage which was 13.2 volts. However, I charged the battery and tried again once it was full. Funny that though the battery was full (13,75 volts), the dash showed it was empty. I tried to start several times, but always the same problem, the engine did not crank, just half a turn or so and the bike made weird whining noises as long as I kept the button pushed. Like something was mechanically blocked. I then tried a different battery of my friends GP 300 but still no joy, just a few turns then a whining noise. So i checked and cleaned all connections from battery to starter relay and so on, but this did not change anything. I decided to take the starter and bendix cover off. I realized that the starter was pretty hot when I took it off and it smelled like burnt metal. I held it against the engine and pushed the button and it spun. I cleaned the gears, bendix and starter shaft applied some fresh grease and put the starter motor back in. Needless to say it did not crank the engine... Used the kicker and it started immediately. I warmed up the engine riding up and down the road as I wanted to see if the starter motor will crank the engine over when it was hot. When I tried to start the hot engine all I heard was a clicking noise from the starter relay. 😡 Close to kicking the &%$#@!ing bike from the stand I went for a break. When I had cooled down I measured continuity of the starter and immediately knew it was toast. The starter smelled like burnt copper and insulation paint. When i opened it the first thing that fell out was piece of copper wire. 😤 Called my friend and asked him if I can take his starter for testing and he said no problem. So installed his starter, pushed the button and BINGO! It cranked the engine over like mad. I tried ten times. I removed the spark plug cap and tried and it cranked like mad. The starter did not even get warm though I let it crank for almost 10 seconds at least 6 times. I am puzzled now as I can not imagine why my starter motor failed to crank the engine. A new starter motor is on order and should arrive on Monday. As far as I know a starter motor is either good or it doesn't work. In 45 years of wrenching I have never heard that a starter motor gets weaker. What do you think? I'd be happy to hear your opinions. Doc

  8. I am restoring a 2010 Yamaha PW 50 . When looking up parts . The years go up to 2009 and skips 2010 2011 and goes to 2012 and up . Is there any thing different in the years ?

  10. This wouldn’t let me pick Yamaha. So I went with something 2 stroke. I just purchase a used 2017 yz250 ideal fine. Plug is normal color. Had boysen reeds when I bought it. It severely lacks power and at 1/2 throttle misses poops and sounds horrible. Had stock jetting 178 main and 50 pilot. It has pro circuit pipe and silencer. Pro circuit ported cylinder also. I have changed jetting that pro circuit recommended 45 pilot and 175 main. I also tried leaving stock pilot at 50 and changed main to 180 and 182. I live in Indiana. Also put a v force 3 reed block in. What is going on ?? Help please

  12. So, went to Idaho last week and wife's GG Contact 250ES (basically a TXT with seat) got coolant in oil. Couple of questions for anyone with more bike knowledge than me. Is this a common occurrence? If so, what is typically the problem? This bike has a sealed system, so if it was overfilled with coolant could this have blown by seal at pump? If it did blow past seal is seal trashed? Rode on it for a while before it was noticed. Could additional pressure inside the gearbox have pushed coolant/oil mixture into crank area? Is this something I should look at as well? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, G.
  13. I could get a s3 head kit for my 300 for a decent price. Waht I don't get is why would someone install an insert that has the same shape/compression and probably squish (not sure) as the OEM head? There are three inserts, standard, standard + and standard ++. What does it mean? Just different compression ratios?
  14. I am curious how you have set your PV and why you have set it different from what the factory setting (2 turns cc) is. I have mine currently set at 2.5 turns as I felt the engine did not rev out as easy. Also I have the impression that the further I open the PV set screw the less torque I get while if I close it torque increases but the engine is revving up slower.
  15. HELP! My 1974 Suzuki TS250 has an electrical issue. My headlight just recently burned out and my high beam indicator bulb also burned out. I replaced the high beam indicator bulb and the bulb came on but it was very bright and then it burned out. I have several of these vintage bikes and I some knowledge of how the wiring works. I need to test the lighting coil in the magneto but I can not find any info on how to do this and I can not find any specs on what the ohms should be for the lighting coil either. I did some checking on the wiring under the seat and I found the red wire that comes out of the rectifier had gotten hot and was burnt in two at a connector. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

  20. I measured the charging voltage of my friends GP 300 2018 and it showed a maximum of 13.4 volts only. My 4 strokes always delivered up to 14.5 volts. Is this normal? Could you check yours please and let me know. In idle I measured 13 and it than got up to 13.4 when revved....

  22. Hi all. I have a XC 300 18 model with 80 hrs on it and thinking about giving it a freshen up. Problem ive got is what size piston should i order as my cylinder is stamped with an E. As I live in NZ it will take atleast 2 weeks for a piston to be shipped to my address and don’t really wana open it up until im ready to go
  23. Should a contact 250 recharge the battery while running? I see no alternator, though not sure if it could charge from the mageto or something? I find my battery getting weaker through the day when using the starter and only see normal battery voltage while running (<13 V) and want to confirm if something is wrong or it's by design. Thanks!
  24. Looking at a 2012 EC 250 locally to add to the garage if the price is right. I've never had a Gas Gas. As I said its a 2012 EC 250, are they prone to any serious issues? Any major flaws for the year? Looks like a fun bike. Anything to look for or be wary of?
