Amazing bike. First FI bike, not missing the carb one bit. Clean manageable power. Had some flame out issues when I first got it, but after adding a Yoshi exhaust and getting the ECU remapped by Toyko mods that issue is gone. Ditched the Dunlops MX51s and went with MX32s and couldn't be happier. Love it so much I had to go all out making it a one of a kind. Tore it completely apart and got the frame, swingarm, skid plate, rad braces, and triple clamps anodized black.
  4. Craigslist ad said the motor was locked up, but I decided to roll the dice. After getting it home and draining about a gallon of gas out of the crankcase, it's not locked up anymore... 👍 dumped some oil back in, gave it a shot of carb cleaner and it fired right up. I've read about issues with vacuum petcocks on the tank...and this one had some problems I imagine, based on not only the crank case full of fuel but also the epoxy all over the thing to "fix" leaks. I threw the tank back on to take it for a lap, but by the time I put the plastics and seat back on, it was hydrolocked again. I'm planning on rebuilding the petcock and changing the needle/seat in the carb. Is there any other common causes of this that I haven't read about in my searches?

  6. I won round 6 of MotoFXGraphics.com custom MX Graphics contest hosted by Thumpertalk! First off, gotta say I was very impressed with the speed and level of communication provided by MotoFX. I kind of put them to the test and ruthlessly had asked for quite a bit of stuff done to the original mock-up. I emailed a list of close to ten things for them to do late one afternoon and they knocked it all out overnight and sent me a revised mock-up the following morning (who does that?!? haha, don't know if that could be expected with a purchased kit or they're just taking extra care of me as a contest winner?). I had also asked in the email if I could paypal them some money for the application kit, and they simply threw it in...very cool. So let's start with a before and after pic. Let me know what you think? Here's the before pic. It was a sticker kit done by Decal Works https://www.decalmx.com. The shroud material was textured for grip. I liked it a lot, but my knees wore through it pretty quick (after maybe 6-8 days or so of riding?). Good thing is that it never really peeled up, it just wore away almost like paint. There was small front and rear fender stickers on there also, but those got scratched up and the edges peeled up within the first few rides in sand dunes so those were removed a while ago. Here's a shot of the MotoFX kit as it arrived. It was recommended to lay the stickers out flat for a few hours. Here's a shot of the stuff in the application kit. I also used an old hair dryer and cheap paper towels (the cheap ones have less lint). The blow dryer on medium heat is hot enough to "form" the sticker around curved plastic spots. I then go over all the edges with high heat after all the application fluid and air bubbles are squeegeed out. When I took the plastics off, I realized they were pretty scratched up, so I sanded them down in three steps. (just real quick, those three little half sheets did the trick for the whole kit, no need for it to be perfect, just no "jaggedness" to the scratches). After sanding, I cleaned the plastics in three steps: 1) adhesive remover 2) surface prep oil and wax remover 3) application fluid. When I place the stickers I spray a light mist of application fluid on both the plastic and a light mist on the actual sticker adhesive. Both get fairly wet, more than you would think is ok, but if you use actual application fluid (as opposed to just water or soapy water) you can get away with using quite a bit. This helps with a few things, it keeps the adhesive from sticking to your fingers, it allows you to slide the sticker into position before applying pressure to set it, and it helps eliminate air bubbles when squeegeeing the liquid out. The felt squeegee they included was a cool finishing touch that smoothed everything out while kind of polishing the kit up. Here are the finished pics: Overall I'm really happy with how everything went. Only flaw on MotoFx's part is minor and it's that the cut path for the fork guards was wrong. It wasn't a big deal since most of it was white anyway and it still fit, so I just ran with it. As far as a review, I'll keep you guys updated. I am concerned that the laminate seems to be slightly thinner than I'm used to. It is glossier than normal though and the colors really pop...Maybe this laminate is better suited for vehicle wraps and they should look at the Convex line of materials for their dirtbike stuff? (If you guys ever have a printer do your graphics have them print on 6mil Convex material and laminate it with the 12mil clear, that seems to be the sweet spot for dirtbike stuff)...With whatever material MotoFX is using, a few spots that I trimmed with an exacto knife trimmed REALLY easy...It was a fairly dull blade too, yet it took very little pressure to slice the sticker all the way through, so I'm a little worried about the longevity of it, especially on the rims. My rims are pretty speckled from dune riding and have plenty of tire iron scratches in them, so I'm not even sure attempting to ride with the rim graphics is wise. I'd hate to have a melted mess of rim stickers all tangled up in my wheel. Each side of the rim took like 4 strips of stickers, so seems like lots of little seams to catch and peel. We'll see, but I'm thinking those stickers are better suited only on new rims? Before: After: I have a trip coming up in a few weeks so I'll post updates as to how everything holds up. Questions and comments are appreciated. And again, a huge thanks again to TT and MotoFX!!!
  7. Ooohhhh proud new owner right here! Just came off a 2012 yz450. I found myself doing more desert stuff, and after retrofitting the yz to the point where all I needed was a light, I decide to grab one of these bad boys. I ordered the ecu comp and programmer to get the power out of the bike, as well as a fmf power core pipe. I am looking for some racing theme graphics or a trim kit that will fit my bike. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am not too sure if older model yz's or wr graphics will work. The front fender is the same as the '12 yz450, but the rear fender is a little different. Any other suggestions ? I plan on taking out the air box snorkel. Also, if I remove the coolant overflow tank, will that harm /effect anything on the bike? I figure it will just dump the coolant on the ground like the yz? Thanks amigos!!
  8. Where can I but new blue or blue and white plastics for a 2002 EC300? I found some red, white, and yellow, but no blue. How about factory style graphics? I heard that certain years of KX plastic may be interchangeable, but which year and model ( can you even buy blue KX plastic?)? Thanks. -Todd
  9. So, on black friday i ordered factory effex dx1 custom graphics and number kit for my 04 yz 250f. got a conformation email later that day. its now thursday and i havent gotten another email. has anyone had experience with Dx1 customs? How long did they take to get to you? were you happy with what you got? Post Pics of your bikes! thanks!
  10. I am looking for information on how to print some graphics for my dirtbike at school. Are graphics made with vinyl? We have a vinyl cutter. Are they printed on a plotter? We have a plotter. Are they even made from vinyl? What type of material? The teachers said they tried printing on the vinyl once but the ink never dried. Is that how I would make graphics? Thanks!

  12. I recently applied my graphics kit(first one I ever did). I was worried about messing it up because they aren't cheap. So I'm just here to say to anyone worried about putting graphics on, buy Sticker On it's like 7$ and it makes putting graphics on so easy.
  13. On my last bike I used Motocal to design graphics online. They turned out great but I didn't like the online aesthetics. I felt like I should have an online account that would give me better flex for my designs library. Not to mention the methods to get the design the way I wanted was at time archaic. If you have experience with other online DIY graphics engines, I'd like to learn of them. Whop
  14. Hey y’all! I recently just upgraded my wife to a 2021 SSR 189. I’ve heard rumors that it has the same plastics as a 2018 KTM 85, and can use the same graphics kit. Anyone know if SSR has the same plastics as another brand for this year so I can add graphics to my wife’s bike? I’ve found one site that has graphics for the 189, but I don’t like them that much, so I’m looking for other options if anyone has another website they recommend?
  15. I wanted to get some graphics but I wanted to know what is more durable and affordable at the same time.
