  1. Would like to find guys to ride Single track with in indiana
  2. Saturday, March 17, 2012, conditions permitting. Around here, the middle of March can produce anything from snow to thunderstorms, 70+/sunny to tornadoes. Let's not forget flooding. I guess most of us are beginning to feel the effects of cabin fever. In the interest of preserving my sanity and yours, I thought it would be fun to pick a somewhat arbitrary date far a day trip in the Madison area and see if anyone's interested. There's a thread started over on ADVrider that has a poll and pics and video and stuff, but I'm unsure if linking to other forums is allowed here. If you'd like to see it, the thread title is the same over there and it's listed in the Regional Forums > Central. I'm planning to be on the DR-Z400, but have ridden this area on a 950A and got along just fine. Initially, let's plan on the usual meeting at WalMart and heading out around 10:00am, finishing the afternoon eating wherever gets the most recommendations. In searching back through all the NOAA and NWS records I could locate, there seems to be a significant warming trend that peaks statistically around the 15th of March. Nothing balmy, but usually quite a bit above freezing. By then, I suspect we'll be ready for a ride regardless of the temps! At any rate, I'm sure the slab bridges iced-over would be not one whit slicker than when covered with that snot-slick moss in mid-summer. Who's interested?
  3. Hi All, Just thought id put up a friendly post on here about our race we are putting on later in the month. we have a awesome trail system cut out and ready. There are plenty of rows left to get in on the ride still. I personally have cut and marked around 10 miles of single track on the north west side of interlake, some of the trail was old trail from a few years ago and we have cut 3-4 mile of new trail in just our section. We will be section 2 of the 6 sections. C riders ride 4 sections, B riders ride 5, and A,AA,Pro do 6 sections. the trail is cut to be rider friendly and bottleneck free. if you have the extra $ to buy a AMA memebership and sign up im telling you that you wont be disappointed. 75% of the trail is on interlake so all winter and next spring it will be available to ride it also. im sure some of you have rode a lot of the old stuff from the other year. http://static1.1.sqspcdn.com/static/f/532858/26497316/1440857543190/2015+LAblackcoalFlyer.pdf?token=xhRY7v7nyIP6E5qDJFxkzRtjxfo%3D there is the flyer, sign ups are on the website. http://www.moto-tally.com/NEPG/PreEntry.aspx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk2y2CgsQcY video of me preriding the trail 2 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ds--g52GSKQ the Mathews enduro in northeast Indiana is awesome too, I highly recommend it. if you have any questions contact me on here or post a reply. thanks Andy Kraus
  4. ABATE Welcomes a New Addition to the Family! We have some interesting news here at ABATE. We got D.I.R.T.!!! What’s that? D.I.R.T. is the acronym for Discover Indiana Riding Trails. D.I.R.T. was founded 15 years ago by some passionate off road riders. We would list some of the founder’s names here, but we're afraid we would leave someone off and you probably wouldn’t know them anyhow. Just know the people who started D.I.R.T. really had to get their shoulder behind it and pushed for a very long time to see results. D.I.R.T.s original plan was to get some off road riding for off road vehicles, OHV, in Indiana. See in the 1970’s the state, in a broad stroke, shut down all OHV’s from state owned land and in that same time period, the Hoosier National Forest was also closed to us. Yes, we organized and fought back then, but we lost and off road riding has been tough in Indiana ever since. We may have been down, but not out. Off road riding and racing has flourished since the beginning of time. Indiana has produced many champions in all types of off road racing and hundreds of families spend their weekends racing and riding around our state. They just do it on private property. So, D.I.R.T. was founded and picked up the fight for access to state land again. Over time they have had many and great successes. Many miles of secondary and abandoned roads have been opened for OHV travel. Also over 5,000 acres of state land have been opened for OHVs! Two large riding areas have been opened, Red Bird near Linton, Indiana and Interlake near Evansville Indiana. All this was possible through the hard work of the people behind D.I.R.T. Now here is the news… D.I.R.T. and ABATE have joined together. We are all bikers and we are all fighting for our rights. ABATE gains over 500 D.I.R.T. members and D.I.R.T. gains about 30,000 ABATE members. ABATE has been soliciting off road riders to join for several years now. ABATE knows we need to keep growing membership to keep our voices heard, strength in numbers. Now don’t worry, ABATE is not going all off road and D.I.R.T. will not be lost. The same people, who are running both organizations will still be at the wheel, ABATE fighting for your rights on the street and D.I.R.T. fighting for your rights in the dirt. Everyone we have spoken to feel this is a good merger, of course there will be growing pains and problems, but knowing the people involved, all this can be overcome because we are ultimately fighting for a common goal, freedom. For most of you, the only real change will be on your ABATE renewal form, there will be a box to check if you own an OHV. Many of you already are OHV fans, we know many people who have street bikes and ATVs in the garage. We also know that more of you would add an OHV to your toys if you had more places to ride. This merger is a step in that direction. As always we want to hear your feelings and ideas, good or bad, please let us know what you think. Contact Gary Williams (gary@abateonline.org), Roy Garret (roy@abateonline.org) or call 800-23-ABATE with your thoughts. So, now all of Indiana is covered by ABATE, not just the roads any more, now we have the dirt too.

  10. I just moved to hudsonville Michigan and I'm wondering if anyone knows any good riding areas close to hudsonville. I have a 03 crf450 and I just rebuilt the whole bike but I don't know anyplace to ride lol. If you ride or know any good places close by that ppl go to at this time let me know I really don't care about the cold I got cold gear and plan to stud tires for the winter.
  11. I have Thursday off work and the weather looks good. Anybody want to ride somewhere? Haspin is closest but I'm open to anything within a couple hours of SW Ohio.
  12. So I have been arouond this sport since 1984 and just love it. Been racing a fw seasons here and there, most recently in 2003 anf mainly at Casey Il, LTM and a bit at the old track south of Effingham. Getting a new bike this coming Spring and want to try to learn of the various places to fill up my riding calendar if I can. LTM and the new facility at Staunton, N will be my primary riding spots, maybe a time or two to Attica when and if they hold prepped practice days. I want to do track days, some general offroad stuff and some fun trail areas if they are too far from me here in Terre Haute, IN. So, I have a few places that I rode with differentbuddies just 3 years ago but places have a way of being closed and or a guy moves and the land no longer is available for riding, so I am wanting to get some ideas on where I might ride next year. Pobably won't have the ability to venture more than 2 hours from home. So....where are good riding spots to be found?....Thanks
  13. Lookin for some people who like to shred on two wheels over in southeast Indiana. You gotta be able to hang in the wood though, no pokin around. Let me know.

  16. Does anyone know any reputable mechanics in the indianapolis area? I have a 03 cr250 with a lot of good parts, and I'm tired of trying to mess with it to get it running 100%. Apparently, I am not doing it right. Thank you.

    Indiana Riders

I'm just looking to see who rides in the northern IN area, and where they ride.
  18. D.I.R.T. is pleased to announce the first annual Indianapolis Enduro Cross to be held August 27th 2010 at the Indianapolis state fair ground's Pepsi Coliseum. This is an all day event with free admission from 8am -- 4pm for all spectators. Spectators are required to purchase tickets for the main show/race which begins at 7pm. Stay toned for more deals as they develop.
  19. Looking for places to ride dirt bikes, specifically for my son (He rides a KX65). Plan on attending the races at Podium1, but I am looking for places for him to practice in between races. If anyone knows of any places to ride or have kids that would like to have a riding partner, please let me know. Thanks
  20. Hello fellow riders. I usually go to moab 1 or 2 times a year with my son. He can not go this year, new job. I am looking for a riding partner or partners to share the drive and ride with to and from Moab. I have been going there riding for about 15 years. I know my way around Moab and surounding areas Green River , San Rafael swell, San Juan Mountain area etc. I am 57 years old and ride a 2012 wr450f, 3 gal tank. I have road almost every trail out there (Moab) as well as some in other areas. Anyone who loves to ride, in some of the most epic canyons and high desert areas in America would enjoy the adventure to be had. I encourage interested riders to search Moab Utah along with trails such as Poison Spider Mesa trail, Slick Rock trail, Fins N Things trail, Hells revenge trail, White wash sand dunes ( I do not use or need a sand paddle tire) in the dunes aera. The best way to do this we have found is to go weekend to weekend. that is a 9 day window. The trip can be economical if need be. However if you enjoy eating well and and fine dinning that is also available out there. Check out the Red Ciffs Lodge great dinning and the view is out of this world at around 15.00 to 35.00 a plate. As far as difficulty goes, there are E Easy trails to DD double difficult. I am willing to still do some of the more difficult trails because of how epic some of those trails are, although I also like riding the easy trails and can do so the whole trip if nessesary. A combination of both are great to. Middle of May or around then is a good time to go for good temps. or middle to end of September. Time to go is flexable. I have a small car and a low profile two place trailer, can average around 23 miles to gallon. So this trip needs 2 ( Myself and 1 other) if using my car and trailer. However if more want to go I am sure others have vehicles and trailers also. With the 2 in my vehicle one person drives a tank and the other drives a tank or so and so on. Takes about 24 hours to get there that way. I live in NW Indiana I am intersted in finding folks to ride with around here, although legal places to trail ride are not very close or many of them that I know of?. In closing some info can be viewed at motoutah.com, trail reports etc. familyrider. If any interest please respond, the phone my be another option for contact I do not type very fast. Thanks everyone
  21. I'll be riding at lake Waveland this Sat 8/28/10 with a buddy from work. If you see me there on a yellow yz 426 hit me up.
  22. Just trying to get an accurate count, and hoping we can exchange numbers and whatnot. I know fifthwheel and I will be there, and I have his number. Wanna make sure we all find/meet/ride with each other. Can't wait, been a long time since I've ridden with a big group!! If nothing else, I plan on being there around 10-ish Central time. I'll be in a black Dakota with a trailer-probably bringing my CRF450 and sissyboy CRF150F.
  23. I have ridden the motocross track at Haspin Acres once (Its ok) and I have ridden the track at the badlands a few times but I would like to know if anyone knows of any other tracks to ride in Indiana. I know about Wildcat creek mx but a guy I know that knows the owner says they don't allow open riding there anymore. I dont mind riding some woods trails but I don't like the slow pace, trees, roots, rocks etc! I love riding moto tracks though and love flying high over big jumps.
  24. I heard of the MWXC, but Didn't realize till recently that its in Indiana. I thought the only series in Indiana was the IXCR. I am super stoked for this year, because there is 6 races that are close to me, and they are all on saturdays. My Problem with sundays, is because I am dedicated to my church, in serving in any and all ministries, and that requires me to be there. its more personal to me than anything, and i really hate giving up sundays to race. I will do it probably only once a year for the GNCC Ironman, but now I don't have to, and I am super excited! just wondering if anybody else does it, and how is it for them? i seen videos of some, seems pretty awesome to me. Here is the schedule. http://www.midwestxc.com/2013-schedule/
  25. Hey everyone, my bikes were stolen from my garage while i was out of town over the weekend. I live in Greenwood, Indiana. Please keep an eye out! A 2008 CRF250R, 2003 RM125, and a 2004 XR650L. The CRF has factory connection suspension, new factory effex oem replica graphics, new bridgestone 403/404 tires, a bent up left exhaust can, and an hr meter with around 72 hrs on the left side of the frame up around the neck. The RM125 is a completely stock clean bike! It was mint. Any information to lead to returning these bikes will be rewarded! Thanks
