    Kawasaki KFX 90 starter not working...please help

    Hi. I'm new as a forum member to TT, but have been reading articles and learning a lot for a couple years now. This one has me stumped. My son's 2007 kfx 90 will start fine when kick started, but the start button only starts it very intermittently. Battery is new and has 12v. I know the starter is good, because if I bypass the starter relay (jump the wire that has 12v to the one that goes to the starter) it starts right up. This led me to believe it was the starter relay. Replaced and still won't work! I tested the push button itself and I get continuity when I push it. I tried jumping the two wires that go to the push button, just to be sure, no start, so this should mean that it isn't the push button right? I have two wires, a yellow/red and a green that come from the push button and I think they go the starter relay (same colors, although green wire is slightly different) I tried jumping those each (from push button to starter relay connector) and no start... So I have a new battery, a new starter relay, a starter that I've confirmed works, I think the push button is working. Any other ideas? Any help is appreciated.
  2. Well today I flipped my quad front/sideways lol jumping off a jump and straight into a foot deep rut in a sharp corner when trail riding today and bent my handlebars 1/2 an inch. Anyways I've always wanted some flexx handlebars and now I have an excuse to get them. My only problem is they come in 12 and 14 degree, but I don't lnow what degree to get.I laughed when it happened all I did was get my foot stuck under it and had to finesse my way out of it. Well a few pulls while lifting my quad off me. Yay for proper gear no injuries or bruises even!!! What are the stock degree handlebars? 12 degree or 14? I have no idea I have fly aluminum ones now and think they are close to the stock handlebar bend? Either or will work I just need to know which to get. Mosty I do aggressive trail riding, little track and dunes. <------- no clue why I posted that. Thanks for the help in advance. oh and if you have any for sale new or used(I like used I'm a cheap ass) I would love to take them off your hands.

    Kawasaki 2nd Starter gear in 3 mos

    I have an 04 Prarie 700 that has just blown the teeth of a second starter gear in under 3mos. The gear is cheap but pulling and completely diaassembling a v-twin twice in 3mos is a pain in the a** I also have had a problem with my rear intake rocker sticking and staying depressed on my valves. I have backed out the adj screws and had no clearance, sometimes the rocker will pop up and freeplay. F-Y-I rockers, pins and valves are all less than a year old and in excellent shape While the rocker is stuck down, rotating the motor the rocker and valves work as should. Have set the valve clearance and started motor sometimes up to 6 times before it works right. Except for being a cranky cold starter she doesnt miss a beat. Could the Dyna CDI advance the timing too early for starting causing a backfire or too much compression? Related or Unrelated that is the question lol Thanks

    Kawasaki brute 750 sit, now wont start

    just got an 07 750 brute force. the old man had it for a year and only put 5 hours on it with the same gas in it. then it sit for 6 more months with sill the same fuel in it. i put new plugs in it. it will hit and run for about a second. i know i have to change the fuel in it. but will the injectors need replaced (if injected) or the carbs cleaned (if carb)? fuel pump, maybe? any info is appreciated. thanks
  5. i just got offered a 2002 raptor 660r with the 700 big bore kit and some other upgrades... for my 03 kfx 400 with minor mods like slip on pipe and wheels and rotor... i like to ride on motocross tracks and hit huge jumps... i sometimes ride in the trails... but i want the quad that will be better for the racetrack ??? should i trade???? what do you think ????

    Kawasaki cam chain 99 220 bayou

    I just rebuilt the top end bored .030 over new piston and rings and valves.It ran great for about a week and it just stalled on my daughter and would not restart.after insp. I found the cam chain of the crank grear and a bent valve.so I put it all back together with a new chain and gears now I have slack in the chain oppisite of the tensoiner whats the deal any help would be great thanks
  7. Recently picked up a 05 KFX400. Noticed the lock for the parking brake is missing, can someone take a pic of theirs so I know what I need to replace. 2 weeks and it has rolled off on me twice for not putting it in gear. Thanks.

    Kawasaki 650 Prairie help

    i have an 03 prairie 650. it started ticking alot in the lifter area so im trying to set the valve lash. i have a good mechanical ability but im sure setting the valves on a V twins is different from my raptor. anyone out there done this before? help would be appreciated. thanks in advance
  9. I have a ltz/kfx with big bore kit always worked well. Today when going up hills it boggs down so bad it crawls up the hill and barely makes it. On flat ground it rips. sometimes going up the hill it will clear out then go fine up the hill. Only thing I have done since last time to the quad was to install a quiet core in my pipe as it was to loud for ranger dick.im wanderin could it be that? Or maybe CDI? it has aftermarket CDI on it. it runs like someone putting rev limiter on while i go up hills. like when its in neutral it wont rev but when in gear it will. it feels like that up the hills any suggestions ?     Kawasaki KFX400 Clutch problems...

    My buddies quad had a burnt up clutch. I replaced it. We rode it around today an it still rides like it did when it had a burnt up clutch. There is almost no power in 2nd an 3rd, an ABSOLUTELY no power when your on the gas shifting. The only way you can feel a power increase is when you shift an let off the gas an then get back on it. I was wondering if anybody else had this problem or knows how to fix it. I had the idea of it needing a new cable but i thought i'd check here first. Quad is a 06 KFX 400. We tried adjusting the cable an it just made it worse. Anybody?

    Kawasaki Am I missing something

    I went to check the oil on my 06 KFX400 at the oil reservoir and oil came pouring out of the top of the reservoir. Not just a little, but a lot. The bike came this way from the factory. The oil filler plug, does have a dipstick on it doesn't it? Was there back pressure or was there too much oil in the bike to make it come out like that? Psychoone 2003 YZ timed WR450 2006 KFX400

    Kawasaki 04 klx400 cam timing

    could someone help me out on setting the cam timing on a 04 klx400 timing chain was strechd and broke and exhaust valve.. now im getting ready to put everything back together but im not sure as to how to set the cams. i know how to set bottom end to tdc. any help? Thanks

    Kawasaki 04 kfx400

    hey all my kfx400 is having a weird stall out issue.. the bike will start and run fine for sometimes 5 sometimes 20 min but it never fails to just clonk out on me in the middle of a ride will do its constantly but then i just fire it back up and ride again for another 5 - 10 then clonk again has anyone else had this same issue in the past could it be the cdi rev box? bad ground battery no good? i have no idea any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Kawasaki Kawasaki BaYou 300

    Hi folks, I have Kawasaki 300 4x2 1987. It will not start, not with the electir ignition or if I try to draw it with my car. The spark plug gives a fine spark, while trying to draw it I think the compress is good. Any ideas what might be the problem or what I should look at? Thanks for any advice. Regards, - Bjarni

    Kawasaki Bayou 300??

    I tried to start my 98 bayou 300 after setting for about a year. Battery was dead of course. I hooked up the charger and got it started. As soon as I unhooked the battery charger it would quit running. I am going to buy a new battery but should the engine keep running even if the battery is no good? I am guessing it is not putting out enough voltage to keep the engine ignition system running without a battery. What is the problem? The new battery is not going to last too long if it will not keep it charged right?

    Kawasaki to many choices

    Well i own a 2005 kfx 400 with full ct racing pipe anyways its been a really great bike but i'm ready for something new. and with more power and would like reverse i am open to all brands which is not normal for me. i ride in the river bed and trails mostly and some times the dunes. i rode a brand new yz 450 and the quad seem to scrape on everything in their river bed and it also seems that all the new quads out have terrible ground clearance. SO>>>>>>>>>>>>>>what bike to get?

    Kawasaki Kfx400 Problem Help!

    I am having a stalling problem with my wifes 04 KFX400. When it was last ridden it was running fine. (I must add that the quad was purchased new and no work has been performed to the engine other than routine oil and filter changes). After sitting for about a month and a half, when we went to ride it again it was hard to start and sputtering, I eventually got it to idle and rev but you would have to rev it slowly or it would stall, I figured whilst being ridden it would clear up. Well it eventually shut off and whenever restarted it would just shut off. We parked it and I eventualy got around to it about 2 weeks later, I pulled the carb down and although clean I went ahead and cleaned the jets and the float. I also pulled down the Tank valve and althiugh clean, cleaned and checked it, all is fine there. Now when the bike starts it idles and revs clean but only for about 30 seconds tehn it just stalls as if it has run out of fuel. It will only restart if left alone for about another 30 seconds. I am stumped as this happens even if the tank valve is on "PRI" and fuel is flowing????? Help anyone???????

    Kawasaki 2001 Prairie 300 ?

    Problem starting, but once running no problem yet. The way I used to do it, from the factory, pull the choke and hit starter button and fires right up. Now, pull choke and crank and crank, etc. Not until I give it throttle input does it want to fire up. Once fired, no throttle input needed. and it idles up like it is suppose to. Then take it off choke and no problems, idles fine. Is it the idle air screw, that I have messed up? Looking for some light clarification. Thanks.

    Kawasaki Need HELP :bonk: Bayou

    I have a 92 Kawasaki Bayou, and just a few months ago had the motor went thru and a they installed a new piston, timing chain, etc etc w/e needed replaced. Now the motor seems to not want to rev up. It is like a stick in the mud. The carb was gone thru a year ago...the bayou is pretty much a cattle chaser, and i need it back up and running, it still has factory exhaust. Any help beside junking it and upgrading would be helpful thxs Thumpers

    Kawasaki Holeshots on the kfx 700's

    Hey Guys... Have a quick question... Got offered some OEM take off holeshots from a kfx 700 (XCT rears, XC fronts I think) for my raptor, as the guy is going with paddles + smoothies... Haven't checked out the tires yet, but are they the normal 4 ply or 6 ply holeshots tires rather than some cheap OEM version with only 1 or 2 ply. (Like you get on many new cars, OEM versions of name brand tires with less plies and half the tread I realize that they're 10 inch wheels all around. Thanks. Alf 06 Raptor 700
