  5. So anyone else rides this bike in Mexico? Alguien mas maneja esta moto en México?
  6. Every winter a bunch of us riders from Montana & Washington get together for our pilgrimage to the Holy land of dirtbike riding, that is known as BAJA!!! This years crew consisted of Pete, Jim, Tony, & Larry from Washington and Matt & I (Mitch) from Montana. Everyone except me, has their bike stored in Mexico, so they are able to fly in while I had to bring my WR down, so Matt rode down with me to help out on the brutally long drive. Driving non-stop takes us 18 hours just to get to the U.S./Mexico border, and from there it's at least another day's drive just to get to Loreto, where our ride begins. Matt & I arrived in Loreto a day before the rest of the crew, so we got some much needed sleep and then the next day, prepared our bikes and got in a quick shake-down run on a portion of the Baja Mil course just outside of Loreto. It was one rocky son-of-a-gun!!! Some of the vado's still had running water in them due to all of the storms that had hit the area months before! While we were heading back after our little pre-ride, we saw the plane with the rest of our crew coming into Loreto! Woohoo!!! The ride begins tomorrow!!!

  10. I searched for "Baja Rally" and didn't find anything so I thought I'd post up on this event I attended last week. I'm the sponsor guy for Baja Rally as well as covering it for TT's big bike sister site, XLADV. You can check out a report thread here if you like and if you're into the bigger adventure bikes then take a look around and get to know us. I have a ton of great photos here too as well as some video interviews and still some small bike action to come. This one is kind of cool... it's Garrett Poucher who shocked the field by winning the prologue the first day and was out front day 2 but fell and busted his wrist, taking him out of the game.

  13. Hey all, Thought I'd throw this up here and see who else will be in Baja Norte and the likes. Been going for a few years now and this year I'll be travelling with a pretty good friend who's coming down for his first taste of desert riding, Bikes: - 08 450 EXC essentially loaded... it's been tweaked over the years to be my perfect bike in Baja. 24L tank for 220 mile range Hard parts galore 15/48 gearing for some shred 908's (there-and-backs) A lot of lights... More than necessary. BD headlight and a cyclops light bar. - 15 690 Enduro - Mostly prepped, around the same fuel range, plenty of hard parts in the right areas. It'll be the first desert test for the 690, but we're bringing plenty of spares. Gimme a shout out if you'll be in the area and if you wanna do some trails or riding. The first few days we're down there will tell me more about how he's going to handle the sand and whoops (yay whoops!) and then we can plan more around that as to whether we want to go to Mike's or Erendira or further south to Coco's or something. Cheers! Joe

  18. Longest crossing ever, got to Otay at 1pm Sunday fully expecting 2-3 hrs ...- 5hr 32 min! There was only 3 lanes for "regular" visitors, a couple SENTRIs and a LOT of Ready Pass lanes. I'm going to have to make sure everyone in the truck is RFID ready, are there any restrictions about trailers thru Ready Lanes? Can anyone detail how to get into the Ready lanes at Otay if you come up the 2000? Thanks
  19. Help me plan once in a lifetime dirtbike adventure hello fellow riders, Heres my deal, I am an expert rider and 50 years old, I have never been out of workand I am one of those family guys who never took vacations, BUT i got laid off, good news is VACATION, I just got back from three weeks in BAJA and rode 19 out of 20 days, and I have an idea that YOU guys can help me with. I have a 30 foot rv with enclosed trailer with bikes and gear. I live in laughlin , nevada, close to vegas. I was thinking i could drive rv to a nice area known for awesome singletrack etc. say for example moab, utah. If i plan in advance I could have networked with some locals and guys who frequent the area. I hang out for a couple of weeks, riding every inch of the trails in the area. Then move on to say idaho, and repeat, then say washington, etc. In a perfect world I could have the connections ( thank you thumpertalk, adv rider, aztt and all the other forums) for this too flow. Now here is another part. To avoid using way too much gas, I was thinking I could store the rv at wherever I am and ride my dualsport on the pavement back to home every couple of weeks or so, I could also fly back and see the fam etc.. The key to this plan is networking, finding people who want to share and or ride together etc. Realistically by the time unemployment runs out and i have to back to work, next time i have this freedom I will be older and not in the shape I am in now, SO this really is a once in a lifetime for me. i am tooled up for, dualsport, motocross, technicall singletrack etc, Count me in and lets RIDE. p.s. anyone who wants me to share the 1000,s of miles of singletrack I have and i have also MADE alot from scratch, no problem I AM EASY. oh yeah, young guys, dont let the age fool you, I love to be abused, the harder the ride the better, so please dont write me off. sincerely BOONIEBASHER keith
