  1. Thinking about going to the Elk Basin race this weekend, was going to see if anyone wanted to meet up and ride on Saturday. I usually have a group of guys to go to these, but seems everyone is busy this weekend. If anyone out of Bozeman wants to go I have a spot on my trailer for 1 bike.
  2. I'm moving to Bozeman in Sept. Once there I'm wanting to check out the riding areas nearby. Where is the nearest desert type terrain? I know Nevada is only 8 hours or so. Any sand and rock in Idaho? I rode the Malcolm Smith Baja Ride in April and really love the desert trails.
  3. Had the pleasure of riding some of the finest hills in the Little Belts (Montana) last week. Anyone else ride the area? I'd like to find a few partners next time I make a trip so I don't have to go solo! Tippy top of Yogo Peak, in the clouds Highest hill in the LIttle Belts, Big Baldy Big Baldy in the distance Fun climb, gave my sea level elevation lungs a good workout. Just need a couple buddies for next time!
  4. There are several key senate races in UT and MT. There is a real chance to help swing the U.S. Senate so pro-trail legislation and oversight hearings can occur. 7. I'm looking at getting a quad. Mostly mountian trail riding. But I want to head to St. Anthony dunes a couple times a year. What is a better machine? The yfz or the raptor 700? I've never owned either one.
  8. Anybody been there this winter, just wanna ride. Never been there either how is it?
  9. I'm thinking about relocating to Bozeman. I like doing dual sport with my 950 KTM and race hare scrambles with my 300 KTM. I found the site for MTXC. (looks great) Are there other XC/enduro racing series in MT? Are there many dual sport rides? What months are you typically able to ride? Are there many bike dealers in MT? Thanks
  10. Take us with you on a ride! Here was my trip up Black Peak, on the ID/MT border on Saturday.
  11. So I assume there is ample singletrack to be had, is this true? Any MX tracks? Wheres the best place to live riding wise? Snowmobiling is also very important. Lets hear it..

  15. Is there any riding in Flathead Lake area? I have a business trip in the area in late july and wanted to know if there is any good riding in the area. I would need to rent a good dirt bike or borrow one. since I will be flying there. If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it I am not an Idiot (even if my wife tells me I am) i am not fat I do train regularly, I ride and race regularly but I am not very fast. I promice not to complain, I can buy beer after riding but I try not to drink during riding. I am thinking i can schedule my trip to fall close to a weekend day. Anyone have any ideas?
  16. I am going to be at lake Inez, north of Seeley Lake for four days the weekend of Memorial day weekend at a friends house. I was just wondering where a good place to ride might be if I bring my plated KTM 450 EXCR?
  17. I am planning to ride Pipestone tomorrow if anyone would like to join. With the recent sunny days, I am hoping it has some ride-able terrain. I am shooting to get there between 9a and 10a. Shoot me a PM. Curt
  18. My son and I are coming out next month for a wedding and want to do some riding. I'm on a '13 250XCW, and he on a '04 200EXC. We will be staying at the 320 Ranch just south of Big Sky, and would prefer to tide right from there and not have to trailer as the wife would like the truck for running around. Can anyone help us with planning where to ride?
  19. I am going to try to get to Pipestone tomorrow (Monday) afternoon. If anyone cares to join me, I'll be parking in the lower lot probably around 2pm. PM if you wanna let me know you are coming.
  20. Hi If you’ve been following my various post recently ref parking my borrowed DRZ close to different airports and think that I should make my mind up, I apologise! As I’ve written here: /forum/showthread.php?p=9403602#post9403602 for my CDT/TAT/Oregon Discovery/Lolo Motorway loop starting and finishing in Phx, AZ, different options seem to be coming into my head daily. My latest plan is to head east from PHX, AZ and meet the CDT in northern NM and do the loop anticlockwise. I have gps tracks for everything so am not restricted in having to do the TAT east to west via the usual roadbook. If I am able to park the bike near Missoula, MT or Spokane, WA, I think my timings for things to see and do en-route might be better. I have to join my wife and son for a family vacation in SoCal between 23rd July to 9th August and hence wish to park a DRZ400e with minimal luggage (v small and compact: fits easily into corner of garage or yard) close to either Missoula, MT or Spokane, WA so I can catch flights to/from SFO/LAX. Nothing is set in stone... I really don’t want to mess anyone around and really appreciate if anyone can help me out. Cheers Chris
  21. Hey any of you Butte guys: My son and I will be in Butte around Evel days and are looking to hook up and bang some branchs on our dirt bikes. I am orginally from Butte, but I am sure all the areas I used to ride are probably closed. Let me know, I'll check back.
  22. A few friends and I decided we're going to run in the mtxc series this year. Out of the three of us, there is absolutely zero race experience. We all ride strictly trails, but just aren't really sure what to expect at the events. Anyone have any insight or advice for the races such as the Ought Six Enduro that's in two weeks? Thanks guys, James
  23. Any one know my problem? I have some hesitation while accelerating at the high rpm end of 2nd and 3rd gear. The bike came with a 3x3 mod, and jet kit but had a stock pipe. Things I tried: added pro circuit slip on, cleaned carb - checked jets and needle (all checked out), checked spark, added new plug, checked the fuel mixture screw and made sure it had 3.5 turns. Bike still hesitates but now has a slight backfire (I don't mind the backfire). Any ideas? Thanks,
  24. My DRZ-400 had too high of gearing and not a good enough rear tire for me to get out of a ravine. I went off the low side of the trail, had to cut a trail with an E-tool (folding shovel) to get back on the trail. once i did, I went over some large roots trying to find a turn around place, on the way back up the bike did a 360 out from under me and then landed on my foot, and those two falls scared the waste matter out of me. I was too shaken to ride confidently, and even attempting to walk the bike back up the roots failed. I gave up after I halucinated or actually saw a grizzly crest the far ridge. if it was real, it turned around after i yelled and headed away. i packed as much of my gear as i could and hiked out, thank god I was only two miles in. I made it out find and home, but my foot is very swollen and I don't think i can ride it out. 1) if you come across a bike on trailhead 156 west of lower deer creek road, do not panic about the rider. 2) if you happen to live nearby, I wouldn't mind some help getting it out, as i don't know if park rangers help with that sort of thing. 3) anybody else have any helpful info on how to remedy this? i don't have any friends who ride dirt bikes, and my father is too old to ride that rough of a trail. I guess im just feeling embarrassed about the whole thing, and lost on what to do next. I was unable to go back today, too exhausted adn my foot too swollen to really do anything. some friendly forum conversation would be welcome.
