  1. Time to buy a new bike and wondering what would be better for me, a yz125 or a yz250 2 stroke? I’ve been stuck on a Kawasaki klx140g and have outgrown in and want something with more power, I’m 15 6’2 and around 150ish. I’ve been riding for 2 years so not a beginner but surely not a pro. I do mostly trail riding and will hit the track once and awhile. I also do a whole bunch of riding on the sidewalks and pavement around my city too. Thank you! (also if you have any other recommendations for other 2 stroke brands let me know not strict to yamaha) also based on 2021-2022 models
  2. Daytona is considered by many to be the Premier Supercross event of the year - nothing against Anaheim or any other event. That said, what's considered to be the premier Outdoor Motocross event?? Lot's of contenders but none really stand out as the "if you can only make one race this year, you gotta make this race". This years contenders: Fox Raceway - Pala CA. Thunder Valley - Lakewood, CO High Point – Mt Morris, PA Southwick – Southwick MA Red Bud – Buchanan, MI Spring Creek – Millville, MN Washougal – Washougal, WA Unadilla – New Berlin, NY Budds Creek – Mechanicsville, MD Ironman – Crawfordsville, IN Pala – Pala, CA Hangtown – Sacramento, CA
  3. I just bought a 2012 KX450 on a brand new top and bottom end, still in break in. So the countershaft seal (behind the front sprocket) is leaking super fast, just pissing out oil. I replaced that seal and it is still leaking the same. Is there another seal behind it that can be bad that I would need to split cases for? Also there were metal flakes (silver and copper) in the filter and oil when I changed it. Does this sound somewhat normal to all of you?
  4. I saw him selling ecu get gp1 on ebay of kx250f 2011 I want which price is worth it. Will it match my kx250f 2012 year? Has anyone tried it on?
  5. Howdy y'all, this may be a strange request but I am looking for a small peice of land or property, perhaps even a small personal moto track, to practice moto techniques on. I live in no land having Largo, FL and only get to ride once or twice a week. I go to Tampa mx and attempt to focus on certain aspects of riding but that task can become very difficult to do as its packed on the weekends and I dont want to be that clown cutting people off to practice one turn 🤷‍♂️. I would rather practice figure 8's, circle tracks, and braking all day long than spend 4 hours just staying out of people's way! So basically if you have any open property that you want to "rent out" for the day or know of anything like this reach out, I appreciate you all! Pic for fun 👍
  6. Hey guys and gals, this is my first ever post on here so go easy on me! I wanted to share my build with everyone and give some insight on those who may want to attempt a similar build. I work on bikes, restore bikes, and part out bikes for a living. So I just so happened to have a 2003 Yamaha TTR-125LE (Big Wheel) with a seized crankshaft that was waiting to be parted out, I had been pondering the compatibility of the suspension between the CRF/XR100 and TTR, DRZ, KLX, 125cc bikes. So I decided to try it out and see if there was anything to it. I took measurements of everything and noticed it was all VERY close. I tore the TTR down to bare frame and got everything I would need from it. I started out with a bare 98’ XR100 frame I had laying around and parts from an 85’ XR100. The main shock link from the TTR wasn’t even close to fitting, So if I wanted the TTR swingarm to fit at all I had to use the rear main suspension link from the XR100 (the one that looks kind of like a fidget spinner) as well as the XR shock absorber. The frame mounted link from the TTR (U-Shaped) will be required. The TTR swingarm is maybe 1/4” wider than the XR swingarm at the neck where the swingarm pivot bolt goes through, it would not fit with both dust caps installed so I removed one of the dust caps at the swingarm pivot and replaced it with a thin washer. Not ideal but it works for now just to mock everything up. The pivot bolts between both bikes are the same diameter and length. Unfortunately the lower shock linkage mount on the swingarm takes a much bigger bolt than the XR linkage takes. Currently I have the normal XR linkage bolt ran through it; this does create some “slop” in the suspension travel since the bolt is so much smaller. I plan to try and remedy this by creating some shims that fit into the swingarm where the lower linkage holes are to accommodate the smaller bolt. I don’t trust it to ride as is, it’s not worth it to ruin those bolt holes or worse. The only other down fall to this entire modification/conversion is that the linkage mount on the frame of the XR is a little bit wider than the frame mounted linkage (U-Shaped). I will have to make some spacers when I finalize everything to line it up properly. This is only a minor inconvenience compared to the other downfalls of this mod. After the swingarm was mounted, I moved the front end. You’ll need the entire front end off of the TTR including the triple trees. The only thing stopping this from being a direct bolt-on conversion is the steering stem bearing races in the XR frame. Just knock the races out and the new bearings will ride in the space where the races once sat. Slide the lower triple tree in, install dust cover, place the upper triple tree on top and tighten the nut down. Really torque the nut down to get those bearings well seated. You’ll feel like you’re going to break the bearings but you’ll probably pull the press fitted steering stem out of the lower triple tree before that happens. The lower steering stem bearing is unnecessarily tall and won’t go in ALL the way no matter how tight you get it. I plan on getting a dust cap of some type or a thick square sided rubber gasket to go around the sliver of exposed bearing that remains once I go to finalize everything. Once I finished tightening the steering nut down, the steering was buttery smooth and I had taller suspension and a hydraulic disk front brake. Once you have a complete roller you’ll notice the bike sits MUCH higher than stock. I am thrilled about this because I’ve always felt that the seat height of the original suspension was way too low (for an adult obviously). I’m 5’10 and After this conversion I had a hard time keeping my feet flat on the ground while sitting on the bike, and that was before the seat or fuel tank was installed. After I installed everything on the bike it feels even taller. The height of the bike reminds me of a 125 or 250 motocross bike. Now this 98’ Honda XR100R has an aluminum swingarm, taller suspension, and a hydraulic disk front brake. I plan on installing a BBR 120cc Big Bore Kit in the future, and seeing what modifications I can do with the body of the bike. It’s still a work in progress and it’s definitely not perfect, but it’s different and in my opinion so much better. Oh and please don’t mind the grungy plastics, they’re very dirty and front fender/number plate are just place holders for now. Let me know what you guys think!
  7. So one year ago, just before the Rona hit America, I was all set to buy a 2020 250 here in the midwest USA for just about $6000 out the door, total cost. The virus concerns made me postpone that buy. Then the market went nuts and all the bikes got sold out and nobody was really cutting great deals. So I am wanting to see what you out there are paying for your new 250's now. US prices only, by the way.
  8. The RM125 seems to be in good condition. It has recently had a full engine rebuild. My CR85R is in good condition and I just rebuilt my top end and put a new rear shock and wheel assembly on it. Do you all think this would be a good trade and why or why not?
  9. Hello everyone. I can’t find any good topics on a bad tip over sensor on a 2013 kx450. So my problem started when I hit a jump my bike sputtered and booged as a left the lip of the jump and then when I landed the bike stalled out so I pulled off and kicked the bike over stared up just fine and rode it about 3 feet when it died. Now every time I start it it has no problem but dies with in 30 seconds and the launch control light is flashing. I believe it could be the tip over sensor but not a 100% sure. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  10. Hey guys, I have a 2014 CRF250R on the right side of the gas tank where the tank bolts would screw in, the threads are stripped. I cant replace the pieces on the gas tank that are stripped and a new gas tank is not cheap. Wanted to see if anyone has ideas on how to fix beside Loctite? Thanks! Braap!!
  11. How many people hear Gary’s voice when they ride the track? “control that rear brake“
  12. I have a really nice chest protector however, it is very bulky especially compared to some of the other women at the track. I really want to find a good, petite chest protector that will fit well and do it’s job. Any suggestions ladies? Thanks!
  13. I have a 2018 Yamaha yz250f (fuel injection), the past couple of times I’ve taken it to the track I’ve noticed the exhaust makes a popping noise when slowing down/downshifting fast, it doesn’t happen every time and when it does it’s only a couple pops, I did some research but I couldn’t find much on if it’s bad or not. Is this something I should look into fixing or is it a normal thing that is just the engine slowing down rapidly. Would appreciate the feedback, Thanks!
  14. Hey guys I just sold my 15 crf250r and was looking at this 16 kx250. It looks pretty clean he said it has 13 hours on top end and looks like overall a good bike. He also said it has pc cams and 4.1 fmf exhaust system. Is there any concerns I should know about the pc cams? He’s asking 3300 for it thanks guys
  15. On my tc125 I have about roughly 40-50 hours on my airforks and when I go to pump in air the gauge on my wp air pump won’t go past 7.10ish bars and then proceeds to drop constantly and I am not able to reach my 8.5 bar of air. Is it the forks? Or the pump has gone bad. What can I do to fix this issue? Thanks, also even when I could pump up to the right pressure I could never get the pressure gauge to settle at a specific level it always slowly drops what’s up with that?
  16. We all know the older Unicam motor had been around for a fair bit and did not have the horsepower of the Austrian brands or Blu Cru bike but produced an easy-to-use type of power with good torque and was somewhat easy to upgrade if you wanted that. The new twin cam motor seems like Honda simply traded a punchy low-to-mid power for a high revving low torque motor that seems to not really be faster than the old motor but simply harder to ride. So, how many of you guys that own the newer 2018+ would like to see your new bike with an upgraded version of the old Unicam motor but in the great new spring-fork chassis Honda sells today?
  17. I blew a crf150r up again and took the motor to the shop and they said it’s gonna be 1700 for a full rebuild but they also lied to me many times so I’m taking this rebuild on myself at 14. I don’t have much money so I’m trying to salvage parts. The piston was worn and didn’t have skirts and caused it to flop over and smacked my cylinder head. The bottom end was locked up and I cleaned out the bottom and now it moves free. How do I know if I need a new bottom end.
  18. So I have owned a number of YZ-F's over the years, along with a ton of other bikes. I just picked up a 2007 YZ -F in really good shape, went thru it well cleaning, adjusting, and making sure of what I bought here. My sag is too much right now, as I could not spin the adjuster any more without removing the subframe to allow better access to the shock and the collar, which I will do this week. Instead of the usual 100mm or so of sag, I probably have 110mm. I also noticed that I have a slightly bent handlebar, which I did not notice when test-riding the bike...so it it not really much of a tweak but still not perfect. Anyway...today was my first ride on the bike at the track and also the trail and I felt this minor weave the seemed to have the bike making minor back and forth adjustments seemingly on it's own. My steering stem is not too loose or tight and the bars easily move thru the normal arc of the turning radius. So...aside from maybe the bent bars or the sag allowing the bike to sort of "chopper out" a little right now...can you think of any other reason I might feel this slow weaving motion as I ride in a straight line?
  19. Didn’t read yet.. Im wondering when guys will actually get them and they can report on how they run..
  20. So the camshaft bearing snapped and got in the valves and locked the motor what damage you think it did to the bike? Had oil and coolant so idk
  21. Bought the bike this summer and I blew up. Has the top end rebuilt and it blew up 3 days ago with 15 hours on new top end. The bike is timed right has oil has gas Has coolant it will go through the gear and goes to neutral but the kickstart is locked up. The timing chain has tension and is timed right but the camshaft bearing snapped and got all in the valves What you thing is wrong
  22. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies. There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out. There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.
