  1. Anybody know where this Long Bridge and Big Meadow is in the pictures below? I’ve been to Kennedy but couldn’t find it.
  2. Don’t waste anymore of it
  3. Looks like they have completely closed Gorman. Rowher Flats has been closed for awhile now. Anyone know if Dove Springs is open for riding?
  4. With the CV 19 issue upon us, Repair cost will be important. SD has a "Best Value" Motorcycle Service/Repair "Ace in the Hole". Full Throttle Power Sports Racing (FTP) is located in Santee, CA. East of 15 close to 52 and Mission Gorge. Because of this location, the Overhead Cost is Less Expensive! I have used "Mike" from FTP since 2008, the guy has the "Intuition of a Kung Fu Master Motorcycle Mechanic"! If you are trying to get the Best Value for the Dollar, inexpensive Service, Mike is your guy, for practically all Motorcycle Service/Repair. Yes there are other good Service Repair Shops, but for the Money, FTP is hard to beat. http://www.fullthrottlepowersportsracing.com/
  5. Was wondering if anyone rides on the sequoia or Sierra National Forest? Seems like both places close whenever we have good weather (rain). If so where do you ride? Which trails? I’m in Visalia, but grew up riding on the Mendocino. Need something local because that’s one helluva drive to stonyford. Thanks in advance!
  6. Not the roughest trail we've ever been on, but definitely the roughest trail rated green. We have started exploring Frazier Mountain and it looks like it's going to be a fun summer. A week after this we unknowingly ended up on Snowy trail. We only went about 5 mile in before deciding we didn't belong on that trail 😂. By the way the Hungry Valley map has a mini Frazier Mountain supplement map that is completely wrong.
  7. Anyone local have a clutch holder? Putting a radius clutch in the bike. Special pattern.
  8. We started the ride today with number Juan, beta Erik, the orphan, mitchgyver, punisher, frankfurter and the bulldog and myself. The first hill was some big effort. Body’s, bikes and suffering all around. The effort was multiple attempts for most. I got video and pics of it all as I was perched above the peasants. The punisher has the best run up the hardest part and she payed dearly! Out for the day and back to the trucks she went. first victim! we cruised to the “end of the road” that’s where the orphan wadded up and needed repairs luckily the bulldog fixed her bike, saved from being the second victim ! Soon after mitchiepoo claimed her tire was flat and wanted to go back, second victim!! all the time, Frankie was still rolling like a champ, no! Like the new sheriff!!!!! once we approach the sweet dream mountain, Frankie chit the best and was out, such a valiant effort, yet the third victim After our fight up and down sweet dream mountain the troops were showing signs of misery, me included number Juan smelled blood and asked to go to our old loop in the canyons I obliged and off we went I lead them to a notoriously slippery climb that has broke the spirits of many riders as Juan , beta and I reached the summit I noticed we had two more defectors! Bulldog and orphan sneaked away and became the fourth and fifth victims! it was just me Juan and beta, I familiar feeling feel over me it has been just us three before Juan set the pace and the push, we did a few more canyons before we all agreed to do one more long nasty climb, it was a fight and I had to dig deep We got it done and headed back with the three of our ego’s intact celebrating the conquering of the other five riders, left for dead with no grave markers
  9. Riding the Orosco Truck Trail on dirt bikes and Jeep, part of the Cleveland National Forest in southern California. We're on Yamaha WR250R and TT-R230, and Honda CRF250L. I give directions and trail map. Like and subscribe, we are doing lots of dirt bike videos. https://youtu.be/trlrjJZUXf0
  10. My riding buddy and me are cooking up a ride, from his cabin in Big Bear all the way to Stateline, Nevada, via Furnace Creek Road, a few unnamed roads and some open desert, but using absolutely NO paved roads whatsoever. My buddy has ridden this route a few times on his KTM 500, so it's somewhat familiar ground for him, but it will be my first time making the run. One stretch will require 100 miles of cruising without refueling. My 1982 XR500R with 3.92:1 gearing (13TX51T) will generally knock down 38mpg (on flat ground and conservative 45-55mph speeds) and will yield about 120 miles from 3.10 gallons. His new KTM 500 holds 3.25 gallons and on average yields 130 miles cruising range on flat ground. In general, I carry 1 gallon of reserve fuel - often in the form of 2 liter soda bottles in my backpack - because they tend to balance out well because of their shape. On some of my more extreme ventures into Death Valley, I have carried a pair of 2 liter fuel bottles - zip tied upside down to the fork tubes - and 2 more in my backpack, along with water and a supply of peanut butter and saltine crackers. Some of my overnight rides have required me to literally use refueling stations as checkpoints. Furnace Creek Chevron is always welcoming with it's nearly $6.00/gallon gasoline... 🙂 So, I will add to this thread as we progress in the planning of this adventure...
  11. Who's interested in riding KM on the 7/31 weekend? The campground availability may be sketchy, but the trails should be great. I'm planning on leaving LA Friday morning and arriving at KM in the early afternoon. Both Troy Meadows campgrounds are closed this year. Fish Creek and its overflow as well a Mahogany are open. Who's interested in that weekend, or any other. I'm open.
  12. I'm looking to get a new 20 or 21 YZ450F very soon. Need to call around but wanted to see what some of you local so Calis are getting for OTD prices for 450Fs. At a normal dealer what is considered a good deal over Msrp for new bikes. Most dealers add on like 1500 bucks, that's fricken crazy. You can buy a new car 3-500 over msrp and you did good. How can bikes be so marked up? Must be lack of volume. ALSO bad time to buy a new bike cuz none in stock. How much mark up do they really need to get and how much leverage do we have as buyers. Most new bikes I've bought were at LA cyle sports. Not sure if they still operate like this but back when I bought my last new bike in 2008 they did not add any dealer mark ups, destination or set up to cost to the bike. As I recall the OTD price was the retail price that's it? No BS, no games. But I don't think they sell Yamaha.
  13. Martindale Fire near Bouquet Crossing staging area / Rowher https://www.kget.com/news/state-news/martindale-fire-200-acre-blaze-spreads-quickly-threatens-structures-north-of-santa-clarita/
  14. Hey y'all, it's been a minute. Chad (aka Neversurfaced) here. For some reason, I can't log into my old Neversurfaced account, just the White Gold (troll) account. Can't believe it's still active!! 😂 I had great fun with everybody on TT back in the day. Not sure if anyone here still remembers the days of White Gold & The Knuckleheads.... It's been a decade or so... Anywho, for anyone wondering what ever came of me (doubtful), my wife and I are back in Patagonia (Puerto Natales, Chile) on our Africa Twin. We've been living here the last 2+ years doing our best to keep the brewery & restaurant afloat during the pandemic. Since we had a bit of spare time on our hands, we starting putting some YouTube videos together about life & riding here in Patagonia. For anyone considering a trip to the frozen south, or anyone who may be wondering what ever happened to me, our channel link is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDchtzYOrSgb0652enpM1fw I hope all my old TT friends are doing well and keeping the rubber-side down. Drop me a note and let me know how y'all are doing!! Cheers 🍻 Chad
  15. Anybody up for some rocky single track in the depths of Johnson Valley. Either Sept. 26 or 27 works for me. I would prefer to meet up at Anderson Dry lake.
  16. Good day, I am reaching out to the Dual Sport riders in the Temecula/Marietta/Rainbow Area. I'm from Trabuco Canyon move here about a year ago. I see on MAPS there are allot of trails around me that I would love to explore. Anyone interested? hit me back lets hit the trails. Brad
  17. Can anyone share the directions to camp site/trail head for this area?
  18. Have you guy's ever unloaded the bikes and realized that your not even in the mood to ride? I wanted to find my daughter a quiet place to practice and Hungry Valley was as full as I've ever seen it. We ended up driving to keep Kings Campground so she could putt around. Dash and I saw a trail entrance close by and decided to explore it. Had I known that trail 130 was Snowy, I probably wouldn't have taken my bike off the trailer. We didn't get to far. It just wasn't my day.
  19. My 15 year old son has decided he wants to ride dirt bikes with me, which I am very happy about. We’ve been probably 6 times to SVRA’s here in Northern California. He started on a Trail 90 and by the end of that first day was riding my XR400 and trying to master the clutch. Now he’s got the clutch down but is still timid and a little shaky on uneven ground. He said he wants to go on a father/son adventure to the desert and ride. I’ve always wanted to ride in the desert but have never driven down to so cal to ride. I watched a YouTube video last night of a guy riding at El Mirage. It looks like the type of riding he’s capable of, he just needs seat time. I read about 10 pages of posts when I searched for El Mirage here but most were very old. Most were not very helpful either saying the place sucks. I'm thinking maybe end of Feb to go there and ride for a couple days? Does anyone have any recent info about El Mirage during Covid? My son is a beginner so I’m just looking for wide open spaces and fairly flat, wide dirt roads we can explore. We will be riding a street legal XR400 and a green sticker XR600. No camper, so plan to spend the night in Lancaster or somewhere fairly close. Is end of Feb a good time of year? Don’t mind heat, would rather have that than 30+ mph wind. Thanks for any recent info you can provide to a couple of desert newbies.
  20. Hey has anyone been in the Donk recently? is it still really overgrown?
  21. We hit our first real single a week ago and then went back this weekend. My son is now addicted to single track. We did a little bit of Deer Peak Junction in the vid below. Are there any good loops out there, or is it all out and back? He only has about 25-30 mile range on the 65.
  22. Planning a Hungry Valley/Gorman camping trip for September, and my brother and a friend will need to rent bikes for a few days. Both of them are older, experienced riders, and we'll be doing easy trail rides. Anyone have a suggestion on where we can rent some bikes?
  23. Hello, I used to ride my dirt bike all over Riverside when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. And all of my favorite places have houses on them now. I’m looking for a beginning place now to ride with my small kids, preferably really close to Riverside. Let me know a place where the police don’t bother you. Thanks , Mike
  24. Okay All it’s time to stop keyboard typing and time to ride…Kennedy Meadows is the place to show off your witty verbal skills in person rather than on the keyboard. Plus, we can also ride our dirt bikes. I was thinking the weekend of June 19/20, which is Father’s Day, so you can guilt your family into allowing you to ride or not or we ride the following weekend. Who’s in? I like to arrive Friday afternoon so I can save some sites. Get a Friday late afternoon ride in then ride all day Saturday. Riders can head home Saturday or stay to Sunday to leave or ride. Should be a great time plus I am sure there will be some craziness.
