It has a very neutral chassis, turns very well but doesn't give much up in stability. The power is very linear and easy to use. If you wan't a hard-hitting 2 stroke, this isn't your bike. Even with the aggressive map switch and the powervalve adjuster turned in, it much more mellow than my Yz. Although the power may not be exciting, it's perfect for gnarly technical terrain. Stock forks were harsh on square-edge obstacles. The Pressure springs(small spring in the top of the fork) are known to be to stiff for most offroad riding. I had them changed out when the forks were revalved. E-start works flawlessly and starts the bike within a couple seconds when cold. Ergo's feel good to me...at 6'1", I was worried that it would feel to small to me, but that's not the case. The rear brake lever is a little low for most people, but I actually prefer it that way and it's adjustable anyway. Brakes themselves feel good, the front in particular is very strong. I don't feel they give up much to the Brembo's on the Ktm's. 40 hour update: replaced the stock rear tire within 20 hours and did the front at about the 35 hour point. I now have a tubliss front and rear, with a new rim in the front because of bad crash I had. In that crash, I also smashed the pipe, split a radiator hose, twisted both radiators, and popped the preload adjusters out of both forks. Beta fixed the forks free of charge, so no complaints there. Separate from that crash, the stock map switch is busted and I blew the fuse for the e-starter, although it blew in extremely wet conditions. The most likely culprit is the horn, it's a pretty common issue that's easy to fix. Also, the stock plastic is extremely brittle and easy to crack. -

I told my wife I was buying a bike with everything I wanted on it when it's new, so I ordered this on Beta's BYOB at $12,000 total, in July '14 and received it Sept '14, a great deal for what's on the bike, I was surprised she was good with that. The bike has been reliable and has me riding faster than ever. -

Super fun, light, and powerful bike. A little picky on what fuel it likes, comparatively, but still loads of fun to ride on or off the road. This is especially true as I’ve made mine street legal. ??? -

I thought I would add my 93 XR250R to the garage (again) to document what I have done to it, It looked like something you would find at a wrecking / salvage yard when I got it, It was missing the carby, Front caliper, Headlight, Front guard, Side covers & other odds & ends but I could see that it was actually still in very good condition & it just needed the missing parts replaced & a good tidy up, Luckily the motor is good & runs sweet after fitting an XR250L pumper carby which is now jetted to XR250R specs I am collecting the necessary parts to rebuild the top end soon At this stage n XR's Only seat cover & graphics would make it look a bit better Dunlop D605 fitted on the rear XR's Only stainless exhaust Header pipe Custom fitted White Brothers E-Series muffler (If anyone happens to have the discs or a complete maybe damaged E-Series muffler with the discs & Elliptical end cap setup (which would also be a great donor for what I need) laying round please let me know) New RHK fatbar mounts & Tag 1-1/8" fatbars fitted, Makes the ergo's much better for me, A bit taller & looks sweet too New white 15.9L / 4.2 Gal Clarke tank New 42 tooth Renthal sprocket fitted, + I have a spare 44 teeth Renthal sprocket also Just fitted, Baja Designs headlight, Moose skid plate & some XR's Only (Custom/were to suit XR600 oversize IMS) tank decals / Graphics Very close to an engine rebuild now, I have a new 77mm JE piston kit, Cometic gaskets, Brand new in the packet OEM XR250R camshaft, Brand new Honda rocker cover + lotsa other goodies to sort out the rebuild, Looking for a good used 88-95 XR250R cylinder head, Anyone have one laying round? Just fitted some CRF450R forks & a 2010 CRF450R front wheel using a set of Emig Racing billet triple clamps Time to move on & sell this sweet old 93 XR250, Anyone interested send me a PM! SOLD!!! Went to the new owner after he handed me $2750AU, A bargain really He is very happy with it especially being a very different looking & unique XR250, Sad to see it go but I am very happy with my near new 09 CRF450X which takes my riding level way beyond, The CRF450X is a whole lot more of a bike, Anyone looking to do a bit more than just ride trails should definitely step up to a 450X! -

PRODUCT DETAILS The cylinder heads on 2010 & later Gas Gas 2-stroke trials motorcycles have an insert in them that is is replaceable. It allows a rider to change the compression ratio, to alter some of the motor's characteristics. It's possible to raise or lower the compression ratio from the stock specs, depending on which insert you use. All three inserts (low-compression, stock compression, & the high compression) are sealed with o-rings, making installation really easy. I loosened & removed all the head bolts. Next, I loosened the spark plug a few turns, and then tapped on the end of the spark lug where the cap goes, using a rubber hammer. The stock "medium compression" insert came right out. Installing the new insert was easy. I'd recommend using two new o-rings where the cylinder head mates to the top of the cylinder. I used the Low Compression Insert to lower the compression on my 2010 Gas Gas 280 Pro TxT. I had a total knee replacement in January of 2013, and wanted the lower compression ratio to make starting easier on both my knee, and the somewhat fragile Gas Gas kick starting gears. It works really well, and accomplishes what I needed. As a bonus, I no longer need to run race fuel in the bike. Non-ethanol pump premium gas works fine. -

2stroke 300s are a separate class and enjoy a colorul history of being "almost perfect". The 2017 TE300 is no exception. There was a lot of worry about how the new suspension would perform since in past years components didn't perform up to expectations until after an expensive re-valve - adding to the already premium cost of the bike. The new Xplor forks and DCC link shock work very well with stock settings - and no one has reported (yet) how they perform AFTER break-in. The jetting sucks. You'll get close with the selection shipped with the bike, closer with jets you'll buy but jdjetting.com has a kit that works LIKE THE OEM SHOULD and will save you the owner/tuner much effort. 5 stars minus 1 for rich jetting and incorrect selection to get you there. -
