  1. Hi I have a Suzuki RM 125 2000. I ran it out of petrol. Someone filled it up with about 1 Lt of Petrol, apparently and did the 2 stroke by eye. I would estimate we probably used about 25ml (two bottle cap full), maybe slightly more. I have stored the bike for winter, however every week or so would start it up for 5 minuets. it doesn't idle with out pulling back the throttle back slightly. The time before last when I started it after about 10 kicks, it started but cut when i tried to pull back the throttle, I did the same again and the same happened. I left it about a week and tried again. The same thing happened. now it wont start. The obvious before I do anything is get a new spark plug. The bike has nice compression and had recently had a engine re build. I has been ran in. In relation to the 2 stroke, when it was running, in my shed there was white smoke, so even if there was less than there should be, there was 2 stroke in it and I only ran it on the stand for a short while in neutral twice. Being a old bike to start. It takes a few extra kicks. From what I have said., what are the chances that it has blown up, apposed to being flooded. In my mind at least there was 2 stroke in the bike, and even if i did use to little I don't think that this is the case If I put a new plug in it and try bump it and it doesn't start I take it has blown up. The reason why I ask is it is stored for winter and getting it out is hard., but if it doesn't start off the kick, im going to have to drag it up a hill and bump it.
  2. Said I recently brought a Suzuki RM 125 2000 this Autum for £1,150.00, about 1400 USD. I haven't rode for a few years so didn't want to spend too much on a bike again if I didn't get back into it. I've been out on the bike a few times and considering the year it seems not too bad. I have now stored it for the winter and I am looking forward to spring and getting back into MX. I will be looking to do a minor over hall of the bike next year, fork seals, air filter, exhaust baffle ect. One thing that is playing on my mind though, in the past, about 10 years ago I used to ride KTMs, notably a 125 sx 2004 and 125 exc 2006, fantastic bikes. The RM does feel notably slower than both those bikes, lower end and power band, it seemed to bog alot more so need to cluch and down alot. The guy I brought the bike off said it had seen better days when got it. When I got it he had Just done rebuild on it and ran it in. I saw the pictures. Taking this on to consideration, and the age of the bike, I have no idea how many times the engine has been cracked. I have been advised that there is a limit as to how many times you want to crack an engine and rebuild it. It is running not too badly, I do however want to jet it and have a look at the I side my self. If it does need a new piston and rings, would it be worth putting the money into such a old bike? I say this because I like riding on the pipe and tearing the f out of it. I.e would such an old engine be able to handle that amount of revs a.d how many engine rebuilds realistically can you get out of an old bike before it's days are up? One thing to consider as well is it is 20 years old, before to long may be worth something if in good condition stored?

    2001 RM125 Project

Hey guys, this is my first post but I have been reading threads from this forum for a long time. Good to finally join! So, I bought a real project bike, a 2001 Suzuki RM125 that is already torn apart. Had a good condition Hotrods crank but it looks to have the original Koyo bearings still in it. The left side case has a small hole and crack in it, that I am working on repairing, and the crank bearing has some surface rust but doesn't seem to be in bad shape. Also, the previous owner bought the number 3 shift fork to replace one, but I believe he really needed number 2. I am trying to keep costs as low as possible on this bike while still doing it properly. With that said, if you were me, what would you absolutely have to buy and replace and what can be salvaged? Thanks guys.
  5. So I was riding my dirt bike and everything was working fine but then I went to shift into third gear and I couldn't shift, i could shift it back into first gear but it was very hard, and when I shift into first gear, my shift lever gets stuck down, same with shifting up into second, it gets stuck in the up position. If you need a better explanation I can give it, I have the motor out right now, just don't know where to start looking

    Weird squealing noise

So I was riding down a small hill on second gear, really low rpms, and my bike just died. The kickstarter got progressively harder to kick, so I pushed it up the hill at my neighbors moto track, and tried to start it and it makes a weird squealing noise coming from the engine. Any ideas? It was being ridden decently hard for a few hours. The engines not locked up.

Good bike for being dug out of a recycle pile. Would smoke that KZ650 on dirt. Ring locator pin migrated through the transfer port and that was that. Best $50 of fun I've had legally.

#2 of 2. 2 stroke (oil reservoir, no mix)Starter bike for the kids. Passed down to each kid as they got old enough to ride. Great little bikes that have been been through alot of little kid/learning to ride abuse and have held up really well.

My completely restored, better than new, 1996 RMX 250. Every nut, bolt, washer, and slightly worn part, all new (or soon to be new). Love these bikes The last of the Suzuki 2 stroke enduros... Mods include, Custom Zeeltronic programmable Ignition (PDCIS-MX11T) Custom Welded, wide squish band, high compression head. Pro Circuit Platinum 2 pipe, with TurbineCore2 Spark Arrestor. Ported cases. Boyesen RAD valve. DR-Z 400 forks with stock .44 springs swapped out with .40 springs. BRP top clamp. Driven oversized front rotor. Braking rear rotor. Galifer SS brake lines F&R. Brembo Front master cylinder (better hydraulic master to caliper ratio). Maier front disk and fork protectors (fits perfect with O/S rotor). Ricochet skid plate and (not pictured) Acerbis X factor hand guards. Hammerhead gear selector and IMS super stock O/S footpegs. Guts Racing Seat cover and soft foam (Very unhappy with the fit and quality of stitching with this cover!!!) Glad I bought a new/used pan, and kept my original seat... Floating ground stator mod, Baja Designs R/R, LED tail, and GTR Gen 3 LED Headlight. And, TT Voyager trip computer (not installed yet). Once I’m done finishing off this rear tire it’ll be replaced with a MX3S, and a new Excel rim with SS spokes to match front Also, will be soon replacing the long body PWK with a new late model YZ Power Jet/TPS PWK carb to take full advantage of the 3D ignition maps, and the rest of the awesome features of the Zeeltronic ignition...

Great value, do-it-all dual sport. Not a performance machine, but an endless number of modifications are out there. You can turn this bike into anything you want. Super easy to work on yourself, and a great first bike for an aspiring self-taught mechanic. Mine is used for anything from light adventure, to rugged OHV trails.

    2002 RM250 under restoration
  22. The problem occurs about the midrange, the motor runs uneven and dont produce any power. The motor starts easily, don't smoking, and idles very well. Under and above this certain rpm range the bike runs well. In neutral the problem dont occurs. In smaller gears and in sliperry terrain where the wheel can spin the bike runs better. My first thought was it is a carburetor problem, but douesnt matter the throttle position, the problem always occurs on the same rpm range, so I start to think maybe the ignition has the problem. I found the stock carburetor setting is: 170 main, and nldt-4 needle. The bike had 175 main and I changed it to 162 (because there is 2 type of k9 rmz 250 and the other type of k9 stock main is 162) but it dont solve the problem, I also tried different clip positions. I changed the spark plug and the old the spark plug has a perfect brown color. I dont check the float level and needle because I think if its bad the bike would run bad in every rpm range. By the way the bike is totally stock. Sorry if I made any mistake in my write, my english knowledge is not perfect.

My first real 2T. I bought it in a box and built it up. I sent the cylinder and head to Millennium Technologies. they did a big bore kit and shaved the cylinder and head, made it for single track per my request. I rebuilt the lower end and crank myself, new rod. I had to learn how to jet, it ran horrible after I got it together had drool running out of the exhaust. Bike came from Canada to Texas and the previous owner blew it up and sold it for junk, that's where I got it. I hate seeing it go to waste so I bought it for 250.00. I don't know how much I have in it now don't matter to me. I don't plan on selling it. I had a older Honda XR250 that I rode for years, after I rode this bike I sold my old red pig, after 1 year of never riding. I installed a 2010 RMZ 250 front fender and number plate on it. I installed a FMF turbine core 2 silencer, I ride in Forestry land need the spark arrestor. Bike came with a bills pipe and shorty silencer, I love the way it sounds with the FMF. I trail ride with it so I added a kickstand which on a 2002 is hard to find a bolt on.
